Sherry and I can’t stop talking about how good the toasts were at my cousin Casey’s wedding in Dallas (Wedding Crashing pics to come…). There were five in total (two groomsmen, two bridesmaids and my other cousin, the bride’s teenage brother) and each was remarkably funny, articulate and touching. Most weddings are lucky enough to have one of those, let alone a handful. So in that spirit, we think this week’s prize from Mikasa Crystal & Dinnerware is quite fitting.
Mikasa’s been dishing out classic and stylish servingware for over 60 years (perhaps they were even on your wedding registry?) so we were stoked when they contacted us to offer up some free goodies for you our lovey readers. This week we’re serving up prizes to three lucky winners from Mikasa’s new Cheers Too line of glassware. Each set of four crystal drinking glasses features simple, modern designs that just make you wanna throw a dinner party. With lots of “beverages” on hand, of course.
- PRIZE: Your choice of the Cheers Too White Wine, Double Old Fashioned, or Highball Set of Four by Mikasa
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “I’ll DRINK TO THAT” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: Tell us about a memorable toast you’ve heard (or given!) and what made it great. We could all use a few good toastmaster tips, right?
- CONTEST CLOSES: Wednesday, August 26th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: Three
- PRIZE SHIPS: United States only this time.
- THE USUAL: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

My husband and I collect glasses, so this is perfect for us! At our wedding a few months ago, my matron of honor ended her speech by saying “Love is not a destination, it’s a journey.” I always liked that. Cheers!

I love a good toast, especially one’s that get you all teary eyed(in a good way)… my best man’s speech was my favorite(of course I have no bias), but our friends wedding toast was probably the best I ever heard. He was sincere, funny and personal.

I just gave my first toast at my best friend’s wedding this past weekend. I was terrified that I would cry and/or pass out, but I survived it!

one time, I heard a best man do “Top Ten Reasons why you’ll hate living with ______” They were funny and he spun them into good things so the bride wasn’t overwhelmed.

My uncle giving his son a toast at his wedding. That God truly has had His Hand on him, from the time he was little, to him on his wedding day. The love that was in the air was just so thick, you could cut into it.
What a fab giveaway…thanks.
Blessings to you!

As part of the bridal party, I was once close enough to hear several “That’s what she said” jokes made by not only the best man but the grooms father, which of course went over the heads or unheard by most of the guests. A lot of laughs were listening to that one.

okay maybe not the funniest toast, but if you want to hear the WORST toast, at our wedding my brother in law went on a 5 minute speech about how great I WAS (not his brother) because he liked me for a long time. Then my husbands other brother basically said he would never have a wedding like ours, so “cheers” to being different.

The best wedding toast I’ve heard was at a friends wedding by the best man. He managed to relate several humorous stories about the groom from different times in his life, all with the theme of the groom managing to pull of something magical in the end. The last one was marrying the bride. Awww. Funny sweet and complimentary of all.

At a wedding recently, the groom’s sister (and best woman)and the groom’s best friend (and second best woman) gave two of the most rememberably speeches I have heard to date. The sister/best woman talked about how she was blessed to be his little sister. In the end we all were crying.
The groom is quite the story teller and often his “tall tales” end up being repeated so much that they become like fables or legends (where we really don’t know if they happened or not). The best friend/second best woman played off the groom’s “tall tales” ability and wish the happy couple a lifetime of “tall tales.”
(Really I can’t do either of these speeches justice!)

My sister’s maid-of-honor speech at our wedding was great! I didn’t know what to expect, but she ended up telling a story about a secret “knock code” we had when we were younger…for instance there was a certain knocking pattern for if you ran out of toilet paper (our bathrooms shared a wall). I had completely forgotten about that until she started telling the story up on stage so I was just cracking up the whole time. She ended it by telling my husband the code and saying he should remember it in case he ever runs out of toilet paper in our new house, haha!

And, I wish I had a good toast to share, but most of the memorable ones I’ve heard were in movies … though the bride’s sister when my sister’s brother-in-law got married gave a beautiful one…

I’LL DRINK TO THAT! No really, I will. The best toasts are done by good friends for good friends…when you understand all the inside jokes and make you remember lots of happy times! In my opinion of course.

The most touching, memorable toast for me was the one given by my oldest son at his brothers wedding. My husband died when they were in their teens, and he spoke about how proud and happy his dad would be that day.
On a side note…my son choose, for the “mother/son dance, the song “Dance With My Father Again” by Luther Van Dross. Between the toast, and the dance, there wasn’t a dry eye in the place…

Most memorable was my brother’s best friend, he quoted the Goonies in his speech (their favorite movie as kids). It was so heartfelt and wonderful to see two dudes and see how much they mean to each other.
This was the quote he used that he cleverly changed the words to…
“Don’t you realize? The next time you see sky, it’ll be over another town. The next time you take a test, it’ll be in some other school. Our parents, they want the best of stuff for us. But right now, they got to do what’s right for them. Because it’s their time. Their time! Up there! Down here, it’s our time. It’s our time down here. That’s all over the second we ride up Troy’s bucket.”

At my wedding, my sister gave one of the best speeches I have ever heard. She wrote a poem that share sentiments about my husband and I and our relationship. I cried and laughed throughout her whole speech.

At the most recent wedding we attended, the groom was a very competitive triathlete, and apparently used to have a fitness regimen he did every morning. So his ex-roommate and now-best man held a push-up competition, to see if he was still as physically fit. About ten other groomsmen and guests came up and a LONG time later, the groom won! Very fun and fitting.

The best toast I ever heard was from the father of the bride to his daughter and her new husband. He wrote a song about her growing up and finding the man of her dreams and performed it with his guitar. It was very touching.
