People sometimes question the purpose of Twitter, but when it helps us find great giveaways it certainly earns another point in our book. So imagine our delight when Fresh Leaf Designs tweeted us about giving away their signature Cushion Corset pillows to one of our lucky readers.
Okay, so it was actually a mix of delight and confusion. After all, what’s a cushion corset anyway? It’s actually a very smart and stylish solution to dressing up a plain ol’ pillow. Just like the name indicates, the corset (i.e. a band of bold fabric) wraps around the pillow and ties in the back creating a punchy accent pillow that, if your mood changes, can easily be “re-dressed” in another corset for a completely new look. Easy, right?
And as you can see from these pictures, Fresh Leaf Designs also sells complimentary throw pillows in coordinating fabrics to help bring even more color to your couch, chair or bed.
So if you wanna snag a set of Fresh Leaf’s great designs, just comment on this post with the words “IT’S A CINCH” by Wednesday, April 29th at 8pm EST. And while you’re at it, tell us your easiest trick for dressing up your house in a flash (ex: fresh flowers? a quick window cleaning? a bowl of fruit on the table? simply making the bed?).
One winner will be randomly selected to receive their choice of the two pillow sets shown in this post. This giveaway’s open to all of our international readers as well as everyone in the good ol’ US of A. Please limit one entry per e-mail address. Good luck…

IT’A CINCH!! I love to have a knockout centerpiece on the large island in my kitchen. I usually go for something tall
like white gladiolus in a tall silver vase.
Cindy says
“IT’S A CINCH!”. Yay for International Contests! :) Well, I’m a big fan of actually cleaning… but if I have to do only one thing. I make sure the house smells nice. I change the air freshners, open some windows, light some candles with oil diffusers, spray some febreeze and have the bf bake something yummy! Even if the house is a disaster, it smells, fresh and clean and at the same time, warm and welcoming!

For sprucing up the house we grab everything that’s out of place, and throw it in a closet! (which I will later clean!) But lighting candles is one of my fave facelifts for the house.

To tidy up for guests the biggest thing I do is attempt to get all the cat hair to disappear. I don’t really “see” it anymore, but I know guests do!

I say that a good cleaning–baseboards and all goes a long way to making a space feel well cared for and loved. Of course one bouquet of fresh flowers and some candles work wonders too!

Oh and my quick house pick-me-up is to run the vacuum. As soon as I see those freshly mowed lines in the carpet, I get a little bit happier inside.

It’s a cinch! We “pick up” the clutter, turn on the lamps, open the blinds (I admit this doesn’t always get done when we’re working), and open a window if it’s nice.

I take my swiffer out for a spin across our hardwood floors, make sure our kitchen sink is empty of dishes and the bathroom is clean and stocked with kleenex and T.P..

I agree with Alexis – we have brown pillows on our couch and having a few sets of these in different colors and patterns would be an excellent way to chage up the decor quickly.
Something like this would also be super easy to make with simple sewing skills! Or you could use pinking shears or other decorative-edged scissors to cut the fabric and not have to sew at all. Tie it with a cute bow in the back (which probably won’t be seen anyway) and you’re done! If you didn’t like the big fabric bow look, you could sew a piece of ribbon to each end of the fabric and tie together more discreetly. Whoa, getting ideas now…!!

To freshen my house I move something. Anything. The kitchenaid in the kitchen, a pillow to a different chair, it’s amazing what a difference one small move makes.

This is such a fantastic idea to dress up a pillow. We like to spruce up the house by smell. We light incense and spray rooms with Lavendar or Eucalyptus to freshen the place up and help us relax.

Basically, just clearing out the clutter and paperwork does the deed. It’s why we have company over a couple times a month – to force us to get the housework done. For the kitchen, shining up the stainless appliances makes a world of difference too!

It’s a CINCH! What an intuitive idea! I change the pillows on our sofa frequently, so this would be fun. I enjoy a clean, organized home that’s usually not too bad to pick up in a time squeeze. If anything, I’ll wipe the kids’ fingerprints off windows/glass doors with some vinegar and water solution.

If we’re having company–besides the mad quick clean dash–I love to get fresh flowers and light scented candles in a few rooms (and open the windows for a bit if it’s good weather for the bona fide fresh air “scent”).
I love the corset idea–is there anyway you can show the back of the pillow? I’ll check the website–looks like something I could potentially sew.
