People sometimes question the purpose of Twitter, but when it helps us find great giveaways it certainly earns another point in our book. So imagine our delight when Fresh Leaf Designs tweeted us about giving away their signature Cushion Corset pillows to one of our lucky readers.
Okay, so it was actually a mix of delight and confusion. After all, what’s a cushion corset anyway? It’s actually a very smart and stylish solution to dressing up a plain ol’ pillow. Just like the name indicates, the corset (i.e. a band of bold fabric) wraps around the pillow and ties in the back creating a punchy accent pillow that, if your mood changes, can easily be “re-dressed” in another corset for a completely new look. Easy, right?
And as you can see from these pictures, Fresh Leaf Designs also sells complimentary throw pillows in coordinating fabrics to help bring even more color to your couch, chair or bed.
So if you wanna snag a set of Fresh Leaf’s great designs, just comment on this post with the words “IT’S A CINCH” by Wednesday, April 29th at 8pm EST. And while you’re at it, tell us your easiest trick for dressing up your house in a flash (ex: fresh flowers? a quick window cleaning? a bowl of fruit on the table? simply making the bed?).
One winner will be randomly selected to receive their choice of the two pillow sets shown in this post. This giveaway’s open to all of our international readers as well as everyone in the good ol’ US of A. Please limit one entry per e-mail address. Good luck…

My failsafe for freshening up the house is to let in as much light as possible, get a stick of incense going & open a window or two to let the outside in.

Fresh flowers do the trick for me any day. Also, pulling out a piece from our china cabinet- whether its a pitcher, a bowl or a vase- something “new” always brightens the house.
Deanna says

Wildflowers and herbs (rosemary, lavender) from our garden are the sprucer uppers of choice!

Mopping the hardwoods makes the place look brand new- so simple! (Yet I always put it off!)
Tizzie says
It’s a cinch! Usually sprucing in a flash means quickly dusting up dog hair from the coffee table, and Windex-ing the “doggie nose has been here.” marks on the front bay window :)

Its a Cinch!!!
Just decluttering makes it a whole lot better.

IT’S A CINCH! If it’s really short notice, I find that just fluffing the pillows and straightening the couch cushions makes the family room feel like it’s put together. I try to do that at night too before bed, so when I walk down stairs and it’s the first thing I see, it feels together just for me:)
I’m new to your site – love it!

I freshen up my home with a splash of color- some flower arrangements, decorative pillows, throws, all in bright colors!

fast freshin’ up for us goes….check bed pillows, pick up dog toys (they will pull them right back out when we walk away), wipe out sink, spot sweep floors, all curtains open, fluff couch pillows.
this takes less than 5 minutes so then I can go do something with myself so I look fresh!
Kevin says
“It’s a cinch!” I love all of the pillows. Considering our 4 kids and just moving into a new house, the closest we get lately to sprucing things up is making the beds and emptying another box!!

For a quick pick me up I grind the oldest citrus fruit from our fruit bowl in the garbage disposal. Whether its lemon, orange, lime or grapefruit the fragrance is so natural and spreads throughout the living area.

My husband and I are great at the 30 minute rush to clean when unexpected guests are coming. We straighten pillows, clean off the coffee table, and close all the bedroom doors (what they don’t see is very important!) ;-)
Ellen says
IT’S A CINCH!! :) One easy way to change the feel of a room, is to create custom art work! Bold colors and geometric patterens give a totally different feel than a softer palate with more a subtle design. AND it is so fun tochange your pieces with the seasons or special occasions!

My trick…and, yes, it seems silly…is opening the blinds! I often get so busy with to-ing and fro-ing that I leave half the blinds and shades in the house closed. Simply opening them up makes the whole place feel better, even when I’ve let the clutter pile up. (Which is honestly more often than not!)
Jennifer says

I’ll always light a bakery-scented candle or bake some cookies before company heads over!

It’s A Cinch! I like to spiffy up the house by lighting a few candles, throwing some clothes into the closet, fluffing the pillows on the couch. If I have to (and have the time, I’ll wash the dishes or temporarily toss them in the dishwasher.)
Sara says

I was once told to concentrate on the largest surfaces. For the bedroom, that means making sure the bed is tidy, in the kitchen, that’s clearing off the countertops, etc.
p.s. love these pillows!
Jackie Weedon says
IT’S A CINCH…we clean like crazy and then hand guests a glass of wine as soon as they come through the door! Nobody notices an unmade bed when there is wine to be had!

My husband and I lint roll the couch, fluff the cushions and pillows, clean the bathroom vanity top, hide our many stacks of magazines, and plug in an air freshener. If we have time, I swiffer the countertops and use the dust-vac to pick up any hair tumbleweeds!

Definitely light a few candles, quick vacuum (pet hair!), make the bed and probably spray some Method Citrus-Cilantro freshener into the air! Love that stuff. :)
