Sure, we’d all love to gaze out of our home’s windows at some breathtakingly beautiful vista. But in reality, some windows are portals to the back of the neighbor’s fence, an unwelcome glare, or even the view of a man walking around in his tighty-whities all night because he doesn’t realize his curtains are sheer (true story from my New York City days – yup, just like the naked guy from Friends). All the more reason to appreciate window coverings, like these beauties from Next Day Blinds:
This week Next Day Blinds is shucking out $200 to one lucky lad or lady to spend towards any custom-made, premium-quality, ready-the-next-day blinds, shades, sheers, rollers, romans or even shutters. And they’ve got enough styles to make your head spin (which you can browse right here).
Here are the giveaway deets:
- PRIZE: $200 towards any Next Day Blinds order
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “BLIND ME!” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: …tell us about a view you wish you could cover (or are glad that you’ve already covered). Maybe the neighbors can look right into your bathroom (or vice versa)? Or you once stayed in a hotel room with a not so nice view?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, November 10th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

And our one lucky winner (as selected by random.org) is… Hien (who’s looking to cover up some sun-drenched kitchen windows). Congrats!

My three little boys have destroyed nearly every blind on the first floor. They are all paper and very easy to tear. Between flying objects, crayons and dirty fingers, we need to replace all of them…
Sheri says
Blind me! My $5 home depot temporary shades have long since overstayed their welcome. At this point, there’s really nothing temporary about them :-)
Chandeen says
Blind Me!!! Our bedroom window looks right into the neighbors living room. If the curtains aren’t pulled just right they get a very revealing view.

We just moved into our big house and none of the first floor windows have coverings. We need some privacy ASAP! :)

Seriously though. We live on the second level of a four-plex. Our neighbors to the back like to Our backyard neighbors have a nightly ritual of dressing down into their “pajamas” and sitting around an old table surrounded by tiki torches in their backyard. Our bedroom window allows us to witness this every night, as well as allows them to see into our bedroom window. It’s a no-win situation! Some blinds would really be wonderful!

We love our apartment, but the view of the back alley is unsightly. Love to add some light to our bedroom without the view!
Melody says
BLIND ME!
We just moved into our new (older) house and had to rip down all the blinds because they were so dated and gross! We just found out we’re having a baby, and I’d really prefer the neighbors to not be able to see into the nursery when I’m up at all hours of the night! :)

We live in the heart of the city and our bedroom windows face a street that has a lot of foot traffic – definitely need to cover those up!

I also have a neighbor who is a little too nosy (and weirdly in tune with our doggie potty break schedule)…I’d love to have some blinds for our bedroom and our soon to new arrival’s room!

I just sewed cafe cutains for the bay window in our kitchen. It was a bit too much like a fishbowl before. Now I’d like to put up some bamboo shades in the bedroom.

We are getting ready to buy a new house and we will need to cover every window in the house….and sooner the better so that we aren’t THAT neighbor!

My bedroom windows have been dressed with the oh-so-fancy paper shades from Home Depot since June. They could really use an upgrade!

I would love to be able to update the livingroom – seems a funny thing to say, but it’s almost TOO bright. Curtains just aren’t cutting it.

I look onto the ugliest house on the block with its siding falling off. Time for an update!
Jennifer says
BLIND ME! I would LOVE to get a shade for my bedroom window that I can pull down from the top. The window is large and faces the street, so anyone walking by could see in if I had the shade open. So, I never open it and it is dark in there. I would love to let in some light with a top-down shade!

I recently became a first time homebuyer and some new window treatments for our bedroom would be amazing!! The sunlight is lovely but not on Saturday mornings when we can sleep in.

My neighbor doesn’t even trouble himself with tighty whities… yikes! Maybe I should get him a pair!

I hate the view out of my dining room. It looks on to our backyard with a dead tree and a chain link fence.

BLIND ME!
September 09′ My husband and I moved into our first home.
Its the perfect house for us with lots of windows and light.
One of the best windows in our little home is the large picture window in our master bedroom.
In the spring, the window (complete with linen window bench) looks out onto a lush and vibrant pink crepe myrtle tree.
This tree is so pretty, and lovely from the window that it was one of the reasons we decided to buy the house.
The thing is, in the winter when when the tree has lost its leaves and lovely pink petals our bedroom is in direct view from our neighbors back yard.
Thus, our view of the lovely pink tree is replaced from November-March by the view the ugly 90’s metal mini blinds that came with our house in order to avoid our neighbors being BLINDed by the sight of ME changing.
I’d love a more sophisticated set of blinds to show off, provide privacy, and frame our view.
Please help!
:-)

I’d probably look for an awesome Roman Shade for the French Door off the bedroom to replace the curtain. Privacy in the bedroom – always a necessity!!

Two of the rooms in our house have these wonderful little window seats that you can sit in to enjoy the view of the side of the neighbor’s house. Obviously not much thought put into that one.
