Sure, we’d all love to gaze out of our home’s windows at some breathtakingly beautiful vista. But in reality, some windows are portals to the back of the neighbor’s fence, an unwelcome glare, or even the view of a man walking around in his tighty-whities all night because he doesn’t realize his curtains are sheer (true story from my New York City days – yup, just like the naked guy from Friends). All the more reason to appreciate window coverings, like these beauties from Next Day Blinds:
This week Next Day Blinds is shucking out $200 to one lucky lad or lady to spend towards any custom-made, premium-quality, ready-the-next-day blinds, shades, sheers, rollers, romans or even shutters. And they’ve got enough styles to make your head spin (which you can browse right here).
Here are the giveaway deets:
- PRIZE: $200 towards any Next Day Blinds order
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “BLIND ME!” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: …tell us about a view you wish you could cover (or are glad that you’ve already covered). Maybe the neighbors can look right into your bathroom (or vice versa)? Or you once stayed in a hotel room with a not so nice view?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, November 10th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

And our one lucky winner (as selected by random.org) is… Hien (who’s looking to cover up some sun-drenched kitchen windows). Congrats!

I’d like to cover my bedroom window (with something other than a sheet)! There’s one of those elevated hunting seat things (I can’t remember what they’re called) right outside! Creepy right?

Our master bedroom has blinds, but about half of them were broken when we bought the house 5 months ago, and we’ve been too cheap to replace them. Would love new blinds!

We need the blinds for our bathroom………..huge windows that leave us ducking and hiding from our neighbors when we get out of the shower!

BLIND ME!
I have little basement windows that I need to cover. I don’t think people usually cover these but it freaks me out at night when I can’t see out and don’t know if anyone is looking in.
Erica says
BLIND ME! We need something to cover the front door window. Right now, people on the street can see straight into our living room. Sometimes, that’s awkward . . .

this contest couldn’t be more timely! i’ve been perusing your site to find the perfect window solution for our bathroom which has both stunning views of the city skyline in addition to full access into our neighbors’ living room.
Megan says
BLIND ME! We need blinds for our kitchen windows. They open up right onto the street, and we’re on a T-intersection. Too many mornings I blearily stand at the sink with my robe gaping open, while some hapless driver stops at the intersection, facing me head-on and wondering whether to go right, go left, or go home and grab the camera!

Blind Me! My kitchen windows could use some love for sure!
Soleil says
Blind Me! Apparently our living room window is an odd size because we can’t find any off the shelf blinds that will fit, so I could definitely use some custom blinds!

Our new (to us) home has NO blinds at all! In fact our neighbors can see right into our living room (and dining room, and bedroom, and….). We’d use the $200 toward every window in our house…starting with the kitchen (it’s hard to cook when you feel like you’re being stared at!)
D'Ann Rawlinson says
BLIND ME! I live in a condo on the second floor. My balcony (glass sliding doors) look out to the condo next to me. Renters moved in and I get to view their so called curtains covering their glass sliding doors, which consists of a red, fleece blanket with white hearts (I’m seriously not making this up). Thankfully, they just threw away their left over Christmas tree from December 2009! However, December is right around the corner, so who knows….I may have another Christmas tree to look at for 2011! I’d love to put up some new blinds to mask my neighbor’s window coverings.
Michele says
Our cute new house has a not-so-cute unfinished room without window coverings. I’d love for the exterior windows to match, and I’d love even more to not be reminded of it everytime we pull up our drive!
kitty says
BLIND ME!!! Our bedroom window is about 5 ft. from our neighbor’s bedroom window and lets just say there are not enough blinds in the world to sheild us from what goes on in there….although this sure will help!
Connie H. says
BLIND ME!!
I need new blinds in my bedroom, the ones in there now are old, faded, and outdated (they’re burgundy color)need I say more.
Stacey says
Blind Me! Our baby’s room looks directly into the neighbors bedroom next door…aaaawkwaaarrrd.
Caity says
BLIND ME! I had to get black out curtains because my bedroom window looks out onto the next building in my condo complex where the bright stair and walkway lights shine bright the whole night through.
Rachel A. says
“BLIND ME!” We are still using the living room blinds that were left from the previous home owners. The view I want to cover is the view of these blinds! The previous owner had a dog that not only chewed up the cord, but left mysterious stains on the fabric.
These blinds have to go!! Eeeekkkk!!!!
Ashley says

I’d love to cover up the window in my kitchen that looks into my neighbor’s kitchen. We do not need to keep seeing what’s for dinner next store :)
Erin says
Blind Me!!
I just bought a house and all of the blinds were installed very badly and are very cheap. Whenever you try to open them they go crashing down! They also break when my cat tries to peak out the window! I’d buy new, stronger blinds, and install them correctly so people can’t see into my bedroom window!
Megan D. says
Blind Me! We have a gigantic picture window on the front of our house that looks directly into the living room. I love the light that it brings in during the day but didn’t realize (until my hubby mentioned it just recently – after we’d lived there for almost a year) that the curtains become see-through from the outside at night when we have the inside lights on. Soooo, I may have unknowingly given the neighborhood a few shows – some blinds would be great for our privacy!!
Ann Yates Pate says

I would like to replace blinds that my husband bought for the house before we were married. Just trying to “girl it up” a bit!

BLIND ME!
We took down the ugly vertical blinds covering our dining room sliding glass door almost immediately upon buying the house, but we haven’t found anything to give us some privacy back yet that’s affordable and looks good. A custom job sounds fabulous!
Erin says
BLIND ME!
Our front window, which is gorgeous, faces a street where a lot of my students play! I’d love some versatility in my privacy options there (and some insulating blinds – electric heat is horrible!)
Stacy says
Blind me! We just recently moved in to a townhome and you can see straight through our current bamboo blinds in to our kitchen.
Kate says
BLIND ME!
The blinds that came with our guest room were beyond repair… I didn’t realize until after we had guests stay that you could see right in from the street at night! Needless to say, we replaced them with newer wood blinds that more than allow for light when needed or privacy when not.
kelly says
BLIND ME! Our new halfbath is fabulous, but it has a new window that overlooks our neighbors back yard…directly across from their kitchen door- I am paranoid to turn on the light after dark! I need shades!
Kathryn S says
BLIND ME!
Our new house has nasty fabric vertical blinds in 21 of the 23 windows. I’m just itching to start pulling them down and replacing with shutters, cell shades, and (in the case of little boy bedrooms) blackout shades.
Venita says
BLIND ME!!!
I would love blinds for my bedroom window, which – gasp – – faces an alley. I dream of layering those blinds under a luxurious silk drape. If I can get great blinds at a low costs…more to spend on the drapes!!!
Katie Scott says
Blind Me! We have a window right above our bed in the Master bedroom–say no more!
K. Bell says
BLIND ME! It’s not so much the view I’m trying to cover up … as I am trying to replace the horrible 70’s style blinds the previous owners put on my back porch.

BLIND ME!!!!
Last summer my neighbors added a deck to the rear of their home. And now they can see directly into my kitchen and dining room! Ugh. Talk about losing privacy.
