***This giveaway is no longer expecting entries – see who won below!***
Random.org once again spun its wonderful wheel of randomness and selected our two winners as… Amy @ Larryspearslive.com and Amanda Deerr. Congrats ladies!
Raise your hand if you want a $50 Lowe’s gift card. Or better yet, give me a “hootie hoo.” And if the thought of being one of two lucky winners doesn’t instantly get your brain spinning with all of the potential projects that you could tackle, Lowe’s Creative Ideas will happily fill your head with… wait for it… creative ideas. You may already know of the free Lowe’s Creative Ideas magazines (if not, you can subscribe to ’em here), but even we didn’t realize how much content they have on their website and Facebook page. And along with bigger building and DIY ideas they’ve also got decor tutorials (like stamping curtains) and crafty stuff (like making silhouette art) too.
- PRIZE: A $50 gift card to Lowe’s courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “IDEA ME” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about your all-time most creative idea. Was it an awesome solution to an everyday problem? A delicious spur-of-the-moment recipe? An ingenious fix to home decor dilemma? Maybe you’ve just stumbled upon a simple household trick that makes your life easier (like letting the dog eat scraps around the highchair instead of vacuuming)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 14th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
- PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

We wanted a large coffee table on our screened-in porch for playing games as a family in warm weather. Got an old library table for free and sawed off the legs to coffee table height. Worked perfect and the drawer was great for keeping cards, dice, pens, etc.

My most recent great idea was to make over the closets in the house we bought earlier this year. Step one: remove doors. Crummy doors that open into the space + tiny rooms = disaster. Step two: paint the INSIDES of the closets cheery colors. Step three: make curtains to take the place of doors.
Now if I could just get to the curtain-making part…

I’m all about figuring out how to use stuff I have on hand to do things that otherwise require some fancy tool. Most recently: my landlord installed some new light fixtures with incandescent bulbs, I had to unscrew some really-hard-to-hold piece to remove the cover and put in CFLs, so I ended up using a small but thick rubber band to work for my grip. Problem solved, and now only 75W instead of 180W when I use that light.

My most creative idea lately was incorporating giant fabric covered bulletin boards into my daughters room since we couldn’t paint.

My most creative idea was definitely the wood votive holders I made for our wedding. I blogged about them here:
http://britneyanne.wordpress.com/2009/08/28/firewood-tealight-holders/
The best part was that we had our guests take them home with them afterwards!

My best idea yet was to re-design my dining room table for a whole new style! New legs and some paint and I love it again.

I can’t really take credit for the idea as a whole (pinterest inspired), but I did turn two wooden shutters into file folder holders mounted to the wall in my office. I happened to find two shutters in the perfect size at my local Restore. I stapled canvas pockets on the back side to keep the folders from falling all the way through and painted the front white. Then I took decorative paper and mod podge and added that to the slats. Turned out awesome!!!

I think my most creative idea was going out on a whim and painting our veneer (ugly) TV console. My husband was about to take it to the trash, but when he was out of town, I disassembled, sanded, primed, painted and made it look SO good, he thought I bought a new one! I still smile at it every day!

My most original idea would be taking pictures of a street sign while on vacation (Wall St., Michigan Ave, Las Vegas Blvd). They are all framed & displayed in our half bath. Most of my other DIY projects I found on Pinterest.

hum….most creative moment…not sure the all time most creative, but my most recent creative idea was turning old scrap woods into a cool shelving unit to hide the plumbing for the utility sink.
Thanks for being awesome by the way! :)

Idea me! We made a daybed to use in our living room since we needed more seating anyway and we had a twin mattress that had to be moved out of the spare room.

My best idea or creative time is always in the summer or around the holidays! Get some friends together and we make all sorts of crazy and wild things. It’s a blast and we laugh the whole time!

IDEA ME! My favorite idea was to use old barn wood (painted orange) and a collection of old blue ball jars to stack together as a shoe rack. Totally free, unique and serves it’s purpose well!

I have been making, DIY’ing, and refurbishing items since I was a little girl… it’s in my genes. My most creative idea was a Halloween costume I made a few years ago; I was the leg lamp from A Christmas Story.

My most creative idea was to cut out cardboard to fit the back of my open pantry and cover it in patterned fabric. I’m a renter and wanted color back on those walls but I didn’t want to have to repaint it back to the boring white before I move out!

I’m not normally that creative but I’ve been reorganizing and trying to fit an apartment and a condo into one this week (moving in w/ my fiance). And I’ve gotten pretty creative with the storage solutions if I say so myself.

I think maybe my best cost-saving/creative measure was to purchase frames from the dollar store, about 40 of them, for a frame wall and then spray paint them all the same color so they would look alike. They’re different styles, sizes, some are super thin and some are chunky, but they’re all the same color so they ‘go.’ They haven’t been hung yet, so this project isn’t quite completed.

I recently screwed some small hooks to the inside of my bathroom cabinet door to hand my necklaces and bracelets. Not the most creative project, but a recent, easy one that I love!

I think my most beautiful creations were the dried flower and feather bouquets and corsages that my sister-in-law and I made for my wedding. We went in with just a vague notion of what I wanted and we created some really beautiful bouquets that looked so professional, pretty, and suited to us. :)

Buying a handheld (removable) shower head with hose made it SO MUCH easier to bathe my golden retriever! Duh!

Idea Me! Most creative idea ever… ?!?!? Maybe my crafting desk. I had a little corner space and used 2 stacks of the storage cubes from Michael’s and cut & painted a plywood table top to make the perfect little corner spot.
Chelsea says
IDEA ME!… and it’s monstrously embarrassing that my most creative idea was all the way back in high school, like I’m somehow one of those people who peaked way too early, but I’m still very proud of this. I was props crew for a play, and we needed an old timey bassinet, and all we had was a little foot-high cradle. So we wedged it over a box, and put a petticoat under it so it looked like it had a tall, frilly base. That was almost ten years ago and I am still brushing my shoulders off for that one.

IDEA ME. I think my best idea (at least recently) was revamping an old thrift store desk into a kitchen island. It turned out great!

My two small dogs (7 pounds each) love hanging out in the sun when it’s nice out, but my yard is really exposed to the street. So I worry about the dogs being stolen out of the yard if I were to leave them out there by themselves. (To be honest, I’d love to hang out there with them but that’s just not possible all the time. :)
So I used a baby gate to block off the top of the stairs on my back deck and now they enjoy the sun out there when it’s nice out: they get to be outside and I can keep my eye on them so I don’t have to worry!

My husband and I needed a ceiling medallion to cover up a hole from the previous owners, however, the ceiling medallions are like $36 (too much for us) so we got to thinking and came up with a clever little fix for only $9.

When renovating our bathroom, we found a 21″ deep empty cavity behind our 10″ deep hall linen closet. Two sheests of plywood later, and Bingo! 31″ deep linen closet. Now we just need to put pull-out shelves so we can access all that storage!

Most creative idea was turning a horrible wall that jutted into the living room into a wall for the cats. If you can’t hide it, then make it splash.
