***This giveaway is no longer expecting entries – see who won below!***
Random.org once again spun its wonderful wheel of randomness and selected our two winners as… Amy @ Larryspearslive.com and Amanda Deerr. Congrats ladies!
Raise your hand if you want a $50 Lowe’s gift card. Or better yet, give me a “hootie hoo.” And if the thought of being one of two lucky winners doesn’t instantly get your brain spinning with all of the potential projects that you could tackle, Lowe’s Creative Ideas will happily fill your head with… wait for it… creative ideas. You may already know of the free Lowe’s Creative Ideas magazines (if not, you can subscribe to ’em here), but even we didn’t realize how much content they have on their website and Facebook page. And along with bigger building and DIY ideas they’ve also got decor tutorials (like stamping curtains) and crafty stuff (like making silhouette art) too.
- PRIZE: A $50 gift card to Lowe’s courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “IDEA ME” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about your all-time most creative idea. Was it an awesome solution to an everyday problem? A delicious spur-of-the-moment recipe? An ingenious fix to home decor dilemma? Maybe you’ve just stumbled upon a simple household trick that makes your life easier (like letting the dog eat scraps around the highchair instead of vacuuming)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 14th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
- PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We weren’t paid or perked for hosting this giveaway, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas.

I am constantly trying new things – Recently I had some old wood boards from our fence that got destroyed, and cut them up, cut them down to 2 ft., nailed them together, making the final size a 24″x24″ square. We wrote the lyrics to “our song” in white, and the three main words (the title) in a blue – its cooler than it sounds, but i’m pretty proud!

I’m not very creative…but my all-time most creative moment was a bridal shower we threw for my BFFE where I made paper lanterns that spelled out her and her husband’s name, and we arranged all the flower centerpieces…beautiful.

My latest creative pursuit was making a burlap “Love is Sweet” wedding banner for my sister-in-law. Although the banner making took much less creativity than was needed to keep my curious kitten away from the wet fabric paint!

I’m not very creative when it comes to finding answers to household fix-em up problems. That’s part of why I visit your website! ;)

Using a big metal shelving unit with a board on top with “teacup hooks” screwed into it and using it as a pot rack has got to be my most creative idea yet…

One of my best DIYs to date was the bar I built in our old basement. I used 4×4 posts and cut them into (what seemed like) a million 4″ blocks and pieced the bar top together. It looked really neat when I was done…it took about 5x longer than I thought it would though.

I love to decorate so have done a lot of creative things around my house, but the most recent was a retro-style dresser turned TV stand/toy storage that I found in the alley waiting to be picked up with the trash.

I live in Oklahoma and most winters include at least one “ice storm,” when trees, streets, driveways, etc are coated in ice. One afternoon it iced ferociously and when husband arrived home from work we realized we had run out of sand and kitty litter. Our uphill driveway was slicker than a greased pig but we couldn’t leave our car outside because it would be iced on all night and take days to defrost. I had an epiphany and sprinkled uncooked rice on the driveway. Immediate traction! It worked as well as kitty litter and didn’t leave the weird grey dust behind.

Idea me!!! Buying 25 cent plastic candy jars (they look like big glass apothecary jars) at a garage sale and putting shells in them for art in our beachy living room. $100 look for $1.

My best idea of late was last night…My two year old never eats anything I make for dinner, unless it’s cereal or a waffle. So last night I threw a tortilla and various taco fixin’s on her plate and suggested she make a taco like Mommy’s.
Well she was so proud of her “shamwich” and she ate most of it. It was a major “triumph of motherhood” kind of moment.

Making a simple overhang for our bigger fish tank, that just goes right over the old one, so we didn’t alter the original think forever. There may or may not have been some arguments from the hubs sitting outside Home Depot, but he gave in and ended up really liking my idea, especially when it only cost a few dollars :)

I am a photographer, so creativity is something I strive for daily… but moving into a house with literally no closet space has started to really work those creative muscles… We would use this gift card to build a pantry to house food in our kitchen!

IDEA ME! I am not super creative on my own, but pretty good at gleaning ideas from the ‘net. ;) One thing I did consider pretty inventive (and may help you when the time is right for Clara) was painting my daughter’s fingernails and toenails in order to get her to stay on the potty long enough during potty training! Anything to accomplish that goal ;) Worked wonders!

and….HOOTIE HOO! Not too many creative ideas, but I’m sure a Lowe’s card will help :) Most creative idea was making a functional space under my stairs (the underspace is exposed to my kitchen). Think small, medium, large cabinets lined up under the stairs for added storage. Much better than the FOUR cabinet spaces I originally had

My most creative idea was to use sticks in our bathroom for towel hooks. They look great, were free, and totally fit our outdoorsy style. I love looking at them everyday and realizing I added that desing element to our first renovation!

One of my best organization ideas came when I condensed our entire home office from a room into a computer armoire. I tacked a magazine file and coupon organizer to the bulletin board on the back of the armoire door to help deal with paper clutter. See a photo on my blog post here (you’ll have to scroll down a bit to see):

Creating a “getting ready” area out of a closet, dresser, built-in make-up mirror, electrical outlet and light right outside of our small bathroom. This kept me out of the way of my husband when I needed that extra 15 minutes in the morning to get ready while he was also trying to shower and get his stuff done.

I framed some maps of all the places my husband and I have lived. The display spans the length of our upstairs hallway, and it reminds us of where we have been. Also, we go to Lowe’s constantly, so it would be great to win. :-)

Most thought I ever put into anything was then boyfriend, current hubby’s 25th b-day presents. He was feeling kinda down about the quarter century mark, so I got him 25 presents. Each present was 25 of something as well. His favorite candies, his favorite color, even 25 pennies with his birth year on them!

My most creative project was also a bit of a freebie. When we closed in an old closet and opened it on the other side, we ended up with a leftover old solid wood door. So, I had one door and needed a desk. I scraped together wood pieces from other projects and created legs and braces. Then, because it needed to hold a computer and was a panelled door, i filled in the depression with glass tiles that I picked up at Lowes and VOILA- I had a super awesome unique desk! I’m about to use the other part of the door to make a printer stand. FUN!

I just came up with the idea to turn an old door with 8 small glass panels into a chalkboard/picture frame… you’ll have to stop by “my place” this month to see how it turns out. I think I’m gonna hang it over the couch in my kids’ playroom. :)
