Random.org once again spun its wonderful wheel of randomness and selected our two winners as… Amy @ Larryspearslive.com and Amanda Deerr. Congrats ladies!
Raise your hand if you want a $50 Lowe’s gift card. Or better yet, give me a “hootie hoo.” And if the thought of being one of two lucky winners doesn’t instantly get your brain spinning with all of the potential projects that you could tackle, Lowe’s Creative Ideas will happily fill your head with… wait for it… creative ideas. You may already know of the free Lowe’s Creative Ideas magazines (if not, you can subscribe to ’em here), but even we didn’t realize how much content they have on their website and Facebook page. And along with bigger building and DIY ideas they’ve also got decor tutorials (like stamping curtains) and crafty stuff (like making silhouette art) too.
- PRIZE: A $50 gift card to Lowe’s courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “IDEA ME” and…

I’d say when I re-purposed the top of an antique halltree (what was leftover after Katrina) as a coat/scarf rack. Just sanded down the jagged edges, removed all unsightly screws and nails; and added some pretty knobs (from Hobby Lobby on sale!)

I used an old wall hanging and some blackboard paint to make a cute welcome sign for our home.

IDEA ME! I work with teenagers at a church and have come up with more games than I can remember! It is possible to make 60 high school students smile with just a couple of hula hoops and a ream of paper.

IDEA ME! My best idea was probably to move a bench by our front door to be a “drop off” zone. I can plop stuff down there when I get in the door, or I can put things there I need to remember to take next time I head out the door. Love it.

we have been trying to finish our unfinished basement for the past year. Still projects to finish and this gift card would be super helpful.

With two little ones I do a lot of laundry and have a very hectic schedule. So to save time I put all of the clothes on hangers as outfits for quick dressing in the mornings.

One of my favorite ideas was not my own. My mother took an old, cool-shaped, smallish glass bottle and covered it with pieces of masking tape. Then she used brown water color paint and lightly covered the whole thing and then wiped it off. It looks like a very old vase put together again. Hard to explain but its super cool looking and I still have it.

One of my best ideas deals with using leftovers. I take all the remaining vegetables at the end of the week and mix them together with eggs and cheese and bake a fritada. A great, tasty way to use up the veggies before they go bad!

IDEA ME! This isn’t decor (or Lowes) related, but I design my own daily planners (and have been for years)…I love that I can create something specific to my family, life, job to keep me super organized.

My husband and I made a mobile for our son’s nursery using balsa wood to make various sized leaves! We wrapped an embroidery hoop with twine and also used twine to hang the leaves. Love it!

I think seeing the potential in our home when it was at it’s worst was my most creative! We’ve installed a kitchen where one didn’t exist, refinished all the hardwoods in the house, upgraded bathrooms, added/improved lighting, torn out a concrete yard to create a deck and grassy area and so much more! That took alot of creativity with budget and materials. Love Lowe’s!

I’m always excited when I come up with ways to turn things I have (but maybe no longer want) into things I can use… Recently repurposed some over-embroidered dresses as amazing throw pillow covers!

My most creative idea was a solution to hanging Christmas lights on the upper branches of the trees in our yard. I took a metal coat hanger and shaped it into a hook with a U shape facing outwards, then took a roller extender handle and duct taped the hook thingy to the end of it. With this my husband was about to get the Christmas lights on the top of the huge fir tree in our font yard.

I had an awesome idea for a board game. It was something my family & I played often but we couldn’t track down a point of origin as to where the game came from. Another family member encouraged me to try and get it actually made. Not even 2 weeks into my serious development of the game (preliminary drawings, rule writing, testing), I saw a commercial for the exact game I was trying to create! Someone beat me to it…million dollar idea down the drain! :(

IDEA ME! I’ve done lots of stuff, but none were my original idea! Maybe Lowe’s will help me out and give me some inspiration…

Sadly the last creative solution I had was moving our dogs to the east end of the basement, instead of west, so they could sleep and wake to the sun by the egress window. They were not liking it down there after the arrival of baby but seem to be much happier now and head down without any hesitations when it’s time for bed.

My most creative idea was enlarging a picture that my husbands grandmother took of her farm at sunset and getting a white frame to hang it in our living room. Not only does he have a constant reminder of how awesome his grandmother was but also it matches the colors in our living room perfectly!!

My most deliciously creative idea was a hodge-podge cookie. It started as oatmeal raisin, but ended as oatmeal-raisin with chopped-up apple, chopped walnuts, and cinnamon. I can’t wait to make them again this fall!

I’m definitely lacking in the creativity department, but my husband uses an old maple syrup container to evenly squeeze pancake batter onto the hot griddle!

I once had really muted colors on my living room furniture and couldn’t find any material that worked with them for throw pillows–until I thought of using the “wrong side” of a hideous dark brown plaid material I found. The back was perfect with my furniture!!

IDEA ME! My most recent creative idea was transforming this hollywood regency-shaped clock I got at Home Goods into a mirror for my bedroom. I had a round mirror cut to fit the frame, hot-glued it on top of the clock face and then spraypainted over the strange brown-distressed frame to make a pretty gold mirror for over my bed! Definitely one of my proudest DIYs!

We have 3 cats, can’t you just smell the litter box? We can’t! Thanks to my husbands and my idea. We built a giant box (6 H x 5 L x 2 W) in our garage and put the cat pans in there. We then attached a bathroom fan and vented it outside the house, the cats can get into the house via pet door. We also use the Worlds Best Cat Litter to get rid of any residual cat odor. Now our new home always smells fresh. Well, unless I burn dinner… that happens a lot. :p

Recently I decided that we do not have overnight guests so the spare bed in our extra room was of no purpose. We turned that room in to a functional office/play area/work out area. Now we actually are going to be able to use that room.

Best idea? The chicken costume I made for my daughter when she was two was pretty awesome: a white onesie wrapped with a white feather boa. Foam sheet feet and a skullcap hat with beak and waddle. I bought orange and white striped tights from welovecolors.com to complete the look.

IDEA ME! My most creative idea was to enlist my friends to help me with various design issues I have encountered in my house. They spend a lot of time at my pad and so to an extent, it is their house, too. Plus they are ridiculously creative and two heads (or three, or four) are always better than 1!

At our biannual family reunion I made tie dye t-shirts with their name on them for all of the second cousins. It was nice not only for them to get to know them but also for the cousins, aunts and uncles to remember their names.
