***This giveaway is no longer expecting entries – see who won below!***
Random.org once again spun its wonderful wheel of randomness and selected our two winners as… Amy @ Larryspearslive.com and Amanda Deerr. Congrats ladies!
Raise your hand if you want a $50 Lowe’s gift card. Or better yet, give me a “hootie hoo.” And if the thought of being one of two lucky winners doesn’t instantly get your brain spinning with all of the potential projects that you could tackle, Lowe’s Creative Ideas will happily fill your head with… wait for it… creative ideas. You may already know of the free Lowe’s Creative Ideas magazines (if not, you can subscribe to ’em here), but even we didn’t realize how much content they have on their website and Facebook page. And along with bigger building and DIY ideas they’ve also got decor tutorials (like stamping curtains) and crafty stuff (like making silhouette art) too.
- PRIZE: A $50 gift card to Lowe’s courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “IDEA ME” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about your all-time most creative idea. Was it an awesome solution to an everyday problem? A delicious spur-of-the-moment recipe? An ingenious fix to home decor dilemma? Maybe you’ve just stumbled upon a simple household trick that makes your life easier (like letting the dog eat scraps around the highchair instead of vacuuming)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 14th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
- PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

my most recent epiphany was to hang spice racks from top to bottom on the inside of our pantry door…its taking advantage of a space that was going to waste!
Dana says
Idea Me! My most creative idea was my son’s Curious George 1st birthday cake. It ended up being huge! I’m slowly working towards the DIY decorating creative end of things.
Andrea Duhe says

My “hootie hoo” creative idea was to wire/plug the base of our cordless phone in the walk-in kitchen pantry when building our home. I didn’t want to see it on the counter or have it on the wall.

I am recently married (less than 2 months) and we have so many big ideas for our new little house. Any amount of money at Lowe’s would help!!

Best idea ever…wrap a rubber band top-to-bottom on a can of paint to use in order to get rid of brush drippings; instead of using the sides of the can which gets super messy.

Not that creative but if I get this gift card want to try something in the bathroom of gloom.

My two favorite projects have been using lumber to create a sliding door to separate our kitchen from the living room and also using an old bi-fold door to create a wall hanging (that we later added a shelf to).

I’m not that creative, but love to steal other people’s ideas! My favorite DIY idea was to paint our kitchen cabinets. They turned out so much better than we ever imagined and we love them!

Idea Me!!! I started using white porcelan dishes to display my every day jewelry. Dishew were bought at Goodwill for super cheep!

Using the old yellow egg basket I found in my Grandma’s shed to hold all of my son’s matchbox cars. Not very original – but I love it and it reminds me of her.

IDEA ME. My mom had an amazing ability to find 4-leaf clovers. I pressed 16 of them and framed them in 4 rows of 4. I can’t say they have brought me good luck, but they’re a nice sentimental remembrance of my mom, who died almost 14 years ago.

Using an old microwave cart from the kitchen as storage in my bathroom. Plenty of shelves for storage and hooks on the side for hanging jewelry, towels, etc!

Idea me! Um…it was to hang a basket in the laundry room to create more floor space but still have a place for dirty clothes :)

IDEA ME! I try to re-purpose almost anything to avoid tossing it to the curb…like my old sheer brown curtains that recently took the place of my closet door…very chic!

Although it wasn’t my invention, it was my idea to start using vinegar for cleaning in our house and I love it!

IDEA ME! Most of my home ideas usually have do with rearranging the furniture in our small apartment – my husband has come to grudgingly expect this every few months! But right now I want to come up with new ideas for wall art.

After spending countless hours looking for a tapestry or something with a “soft” look to hang behind a couch and not finding anything under $200, I decided to hang a beautiful batik sarong that I bought in Asia years ago… I hung it on a curtain rod that I already had. It was perfect and FREE!

My newest inspiration/win was using paint I already owned to mix up the color for my accent wall.. green, white and a little sunny yellow. I love the outcome!!

I’m creative when it comes to the garden. I love to upcycle old, (generally) unusable items into the garden to create art!

Maybe not our “most” creative, but definitely one of our favorite projects to date is our tiled vanity mirror using recycled aluminum tiles (http://designbuildlove.co/?p=119)!
Laura says
Idea Me!
My best so far is a 2-fer project. Used the mirror from a junk shop dresser (nice curvy shaped) in an awkward, narrow bathroom to get an awesome mirror and save space. Then, used the empty frame as a combo corkboard on top/chalkboard on bottom message center. Gotta stretch those pennies! Corkboard was an old one we had in the basement, blackboard made from the mirror backing/support. Love them both! Mirror is in an upstairs bath, message center in kitchen–they’re so far away from each other, no one would know (except I tell!).
btw–I LOVE your new desk!!!!

IDEA ME! Hm, we’re getting our son’s room ready and making a magnetic road on the wall. I can’t take credit though, I found the idea online. :)

I had an open area under my bathroom sink and little to no storage space throughout my apartment, so I put a stainless steel tub there and stored my bathroom towels in it (I rolled the towels). Super easy.

Idea Me
I would have to say I’m most creative in the kitchen, we have a lot of different “Tracie’s Surprise” dishes, where my husband asks what we’re having, and I reply, “I don’t know yet”. Thanks to hours of watching food network, they usually come out tasting pretty good, and help us clean out the fridge/pantry.

IDEA ME!!!
One of my newest creative ideas is that I look an old bread box that I got from my husbands grandfathers house and turned it into a charging station for phones! I cleaned it up, but did not paint it b/c I liked the rustic look. My husband drilled a hole in the back and put a rubber gromit in there. I then put some black felt on the “bottom” and “floor” of it and put a black surge protector in there, feeding the wire through the hole. Now we can charge our cell phones, ipads and other things and just close the little door and hide it all away!

IDEA ME! I recently took down my plastic mini blinds. Instead of scrapping the whole thing, I cut off the blinds and attached fabric, using duct tape, to the existing rod the blinds attached to. Now I have cute cafe curtains and I didn’t have to buy any new hardware!

I think my most creative solution yet was either turning our large walk in into my daughter’s bedroom or wine crates into a floating bookshelf on an odd sized wall!
