***This giveaway is no longer expecting entries – see who won below!***
Random.org once again spun its wonderful wheel of randomness and selected our two winners as… Amy @ Larryspearslive.com and Amanda Deerr. Congrats ladies!
Raise your hand if you want a $50 Lowe’s gift card. Or better yet, give me a “hootie hoo.” And if the thought of being one of two lucky winners doesn’t instantly get your brain spinning with all of the potential projects that you could tackle, Lowe’s Creative Ideas will happily fill your head with… wait for it… creative ideas. You may already know of the free Lowe’s Creative Ideas magazines (if not, you can subscribe to ’em here), but even we didn’t realize how much content they have on their website and Facebook page. And along with bigger building and DIY ideas they’ve also got decor tutorials (like stamping curtains) and crafty stuff (like making silhouette art) too.
- PRIZE: A $50 gift card to Lowe’s courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “IDEA ME” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about your all-time most creative idea. Was it an awesome solution to an everyday problem? A delicious spur-of-the-moment recipe? An ingenious fix to home decor dilemma? Maybe you’ve just stumbled upon a simple household trick that makes your life easier (like letting the dog eat scraps around the highchair instead of vacuuming)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 14th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
- PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

IDEA ME! I am terrible at creative ideas – that’s why I have Young House Love and Pinterest to show me neat things! LOL! One recent project was using vintage blue mason jars as candle holders. Mason jars are made for heat so they hold up well to the heat of the candles.

I’m constantly leaving half drunk glasses of water around the house. This summer with all the drought those became my regular way to water the house plants. It works out for everyone.

I have this weird little place under my stairs that is visible in the living room. I have put all sorts of decor down there, but never loved any of it. I finally decided to put up some fabric curtains under the stairs. It gives me hidden storage and brings color to the room!

IDEA ME! Hmmm… when i was little i tied a string around my light switch and ran it across the room so I could turn the light off in bed. Then I grew up and learned about lamps.

IDEA ME! My most creative idea — or at least the one making me most happy for the moment — was to take the corner section out of our sectional and push the two ends together to make an extra-long straight couch. The sectional is from our old house and didn’t fit the room well, but we were stuck with it for now. My husband and I both LOVE the “new” 4-seat sofa, and the corner seat makes a comfy, if slightly odd-looking, chair. At least for the time being. :) GO GO BUDGET ZERO!

Right now- all my creativity is focused on organizing my daughter’s toys. I have removed them all from the rec room and they are now put away neatly in the storage room right next to the rec room. So she can go in there and get what ever she wants to play with, she just has to put it away when she’s done. Our rec room looks normal now and not like a day care center.

My kids scratched up my trunk style coffee table with hot wheels and barbies. Since it was pressed board and scratched pretty deep there was no refinishing it so I tiled the top instead! Now they can play on it with no worries and it looks good too!

IDEA ME! The design of the sweater I knitted for my husband is one of my creative ideas.

We moved into a fixer upper and I wanted to salvage the old crystal doorknobs from the original doors before putting new doors on. So I turned them into decor by drilling a hole (hubby did this part) into small wood blocks and decoupaging paper onto the wood first. I screwed in the doorknobs and they are hanging above our tv…fun, easy and a great conversation piece!

Hmm, I’m kind of brain dead after my first day of work so I can’t think of my all-time most creative idea but a recent creative idea was to make an old sweatshirt into a $100 sweatshirt wrap that I saw in a boutique. Total cost was $2 in buttons so far! Hopefully it comes out well!

Most creative idea that I’ve (recently) come up with was a delicious chicken recipe. I just started throwing things in from the fridge and cabinet, and ended up with the literal best chicken I’ve ever tasted. Some of the ingredients were white wine, olive oil, chipotle seasoning, garlic powder, fajita seasoning…and some other stuff. I can’t remember it all. Deee-lightful.

IDEA ME! We have a very small foyer area in our apartment, so we were constantly tripping over shoes on our way in. So I used an old canvas-covered basket that was in the laundry room and tucked it around the corner. No more tripping into the house!

One day I came home with my arms full and my dog’s leash around my wrist. As I was fiddling with the lock, I accidentally dropped my keys and had to set several items down and squat down to get them. After all that effort, I managed to drop them a second time.
The first thing I did when I finally got inside my home was teach my dog to pick up my keys for me.
Now, not only can she retrieve them when I drop them, but she can find them for me as well :)

Idea me! I could badly use a Lowe’s budget bump right now. I am mid-project on: wall cubbies for my sewing room, re-doing two cane chairs I found at Goodwill, sanding/puttying/painting an old dresser come bedside storage for my husband and refinishing a cool old mahogany table.

I am probably most creative when it comes to the preschool kids I teach. I used chalkboard paint on the back side of our bookcase serving 2 purposes using half the space!

I’m not terribly creative but I love plants so on my last trip to colorado I collected and pressed a whole bunch of wildflowers and then framed them simply to hang on my wall. It’s really pretty actually. My boyfriend even liked it.

My most creative project has yet to happen. I plan on creating my own headboard, sans fabric, since I have 2 rambunctious kittens. ALowe’s custard would surely send me in the right direction!
Claudia says
IDEA ME! Silly as it sounds, a favorite creative idea is keeping the roll of kitchen garbage bags in the garbage bin. You pull the full bag out and just pull a new one up. You never have to go anywhere else for another liner. A definite time saver!
Jaimie says
IDEA ME … I would say my most creative moment was when I realized that rather than paying $750+ to get our vintage vinyl armchairs reupholstered, I could simply paint them with vinyl spraypaint. I’ve had to put that project on hold for right now but I can’t wait to finish it.
Shelly says
IDEA ME! My favorite idea is my super fun chalkboard menu planner. Makes me actually WANT to plan the meals for the week!!

Idea me! My most creative moment was turning mismatched curtains into decorative pillow covers.

IDEA ME!
I had a one bedroom apartment, a screen without backing, and lots of junk to hide, so I got white canvas and covered my screens, and they looked great. It also solved the problem of where to keep the litter box in a small apartment!
