***This giveaway is no longer expecting entries – see who won below!***
Random.org once again spun its wonderful wheel of randomness and selected our two winners as… Amy @ Larryspearslive.com and Amanda Deerr. Congrats ladies!
Raise your hand if you want a $50 Lowe’s gift card. Or better yet, give me a “hootie hoo.” And if the thought of being one of two lucky winners doesn’t instantly get your brain spinning with all of the potential projects that you could tackle, Lowe’s Creative Ideas will happily fill your head with… wait for it… creative ideas. You may already know of the free Lowe’s Creative Ideas magazines (if not, you can subscribe to ’em here), but even we didn’t realize how much content they have on their website and Facebook page. And along with bigger building and DIY ideas they’ve also got decor tutorials (like stamping curtains) and crafty stuff (like making silhouette art) too.
- PRIZE: A $50 gift card to Lowe’s courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “IDEA ME” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about your all-time most creative idea. Was it an awesome solution to an everyday problem? A delicious spur-of-the-moment recipe? An ingenious fix to home decor dilemma? Maybe you’ve just stumbled upon a simple household trick that makes your life easier (like letting the dog eat scraps around the highchair instead of vacuuming)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 14th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
- PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We weren’t paid or perked for hosting this giveaway, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas.

My kids made fairy doors at the public library and we attached them to the wall with hinges. Now we’re just waiting for the fairies to move in!

IDEA ME! Hmm… I’m not really sure what my most creative idea is. I’m not that creative I guess. Although I do have some pretty good projects planned for our nursery, so in the future I’ll have an answer!

We built my yarn studio from the ground up. For siding we put up plywood with firring strips to look like board and batten. I think it was my idea because I love that look but it’s a lot of work and uses a lot more wood. This was easy and it still looks great after 20 years! Here’s a pic of it: http://www.flickr.com/photos/dancingleaffarm/717692052/in/set-72157600645233332

I don’t know about my most creative idea, but my most recent creative solution was to a pair of ugly (free) floor lamps; We were thinking about buying new lamps to replace them, but suddenly I looked at them and realized we could replace the stained bowls at the top with new lampshades! Voila, new lamps for about $13 each!

My best idea was to have my son use his hand (prints) in different colors of paint (to create a border) to ‘help’ me decorate the nursery of his future little bro or sis.

I wish I was more creative, but I am resourceful when it comes to the “pizazz” pizza cooker. It serves me as a grilled cheese and quesadilla maker and general food-reheater.

Idea me! I wouldn’t call it my all time creative…but I came up with the idea to add a porch and a sliding door on our second story overlooking our 63 acres….it’s going more than likely becoming a “hunting camp/tree stand” for my husband and dad!

My most creative idea was making my own salad dressing. I love it and it makes me eat more salad because I CRAVE it! No need to measure, just blop equal amounts of honey and spicy or Dijon mustard in a bowl, add a splash of olive oil and balsamic, then a bit of salt and pepper. whisk together and Viola! Throw your salad in on top. (this is particularly yummy with spinach and dried cherries.)

One of my best “aha!” ideas was a solution to our sock predicament. Baby socks often get lost or chewed up by our washer/dryer, so I started using a small lingerie bag with a zipper to wash them in. So simple, but so “AHA!”. It’s now used by all the beings in the house, sorting making sorting four different sizes a thing of the past.

IDEA ME – my helpful household tip – We use Dr. Bronners shampoo/body wash for our two year old’s baths. The bottle says it can also be used as a natural household cleaner. So… when the toilet is looking scungy (my word) I use the time my kiddo is playing in the tub and squirt his shampoo into the toilet and scrub away. It’s so much easier to do this when the “cleaner” is right there and I don’t have to go to the storage closet to get it.
Heather says
IDEA ME! My most ingenios fix was using museum wax to secure lamps to the furniture so that my mischievous cat can’t knock them over anymore. If Grace is bored (which is a lot) and I’m not paying attention to her, she will knock over my lamps (and other objects, too but mostly lamps are the target) in an attempt to get attention. Bad attention is better than no attention to her!
Oh, and should Clara ever pay too much attention to some of your breakable objects… this would probably work wonders for you as well! Amazon sells it.

Hootie hoo! Recalling my most creative idea ever is daunting but off the top of my head, I once used up on-hand ingredients to make some pretty killer goat cheese mashed potatoes.

IDEA ME: My most creative idea has got to be the photo moments that were a major part of my wedding theme. In the sign-in table I had pictures of our parents and grandparent’s old wedding pictures. In the dinner tables, we used our engagement pictures (taken in a salsa club where we used to go often during the time we met/started going out) each with the name of one of our favorite salsa songs as the names of the tables. The biggest hit, however, had to be the photo booth we rented! It was so much fun for everyone to take silly pictures in the booth! While they got to keep a copy of the photo strips as a favor, the other was used to dedicate to us in a very creative scrapbook album =)

One of my most creative home decorating things I’ve done is come up with a painting idea and base my entire family room around it. (I’m an artist, btw!) It’s a huge triptych of sunflowers. The yellow and two other colors became the accents for the rest of the room.

IDEA ME… We installed a lighted light switch in the hallway just inside our front door so that we could tell where the light is when we got in without killing ourselves tripping over some toddler toy. Low on the cleverness scale, but worth it!

Idea me! We have some pretty oldish light fixtures and I’d love to swap one for something else.
