***This giveaway is no longer expecting entries – see who won below!***
Random.org once again spun its wonderful wheel of randomness and selected our two winners as… Amy @ Larryspearslive.com and Amanda Deerr. Congrats ladies!
Raise your hand if you want a $50 Lowe’s gift card. Or better yet, give me a “hootie hoo.” And if the thought of being one of two lucky winners doesn’t instantly get your brain spinning with all of the potential projects that you could tackle, Lowe’s Creative Ideas will happily fill your head with… wait for it… creative ideas. You may already know of the free Lowe’s Creative Ideas magazines (if not, you can subscribe to ’em here), but even we didn’t realize how much content they have on their website and Facebook page. And along with bigger building and DIY ideas they’ve also got decor tutorials (like stamping curtains) and crafty stuff (like making silhouette art) too.
- PRIZE: A $50 gift card to Lowe’s courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “IDEA ME” and…

Maybe you’ve just stumbled upon a simple household trick that makes your life easier (like letting the dog eat scraps around the highchair instead of vacuuming)?

IDEA ME! I once made mac and cheese but didn’t realize I didn’t have any milk until the last step. My solution? A scoop of vanilla ice cream. Delicious:)

I’ve been giving my mid-90s house a budget-friendly makeover for the past three years, so I have a few projects that I’m pretty proud of. :)

My most creative idea was finding an old dresser mirror frame at an antique show and turning it into a bulletin board for my kids’ artwork. Gorgeous way to display their creations!
Diana says
IDEA ME! I have so many great ideas, it’s just finding the time (and money!) to git her done!

For me, it’s using furniture for unintended purposes. A buffet table as a TV stand, a bedroom armoire as a living room console, etc.

Off the top of my head, my most creative idea was a dinner of sorts. I was craving thanksgiving dinner one night, so i made ground turkey, stuffing (from a box), corn and cranberry (from a can) and put them all in a bowl. Pretty much the most delicious thing I’ve ever made!
My husband asks for it all the time! I’d love to apply some creativeness to my new house.

I never have good ideas. But I steal them… like using coffee filters instead of paper towels to clean glass surfaces. It doesn’t leave fibers behind!

Hmmm…I think maybe my most creative endeavor was styling ALL of the florals (attendant flowers/centerpieces) for our wedding 2 years ago -save us a bundle!

I think my best invention so far is a pasta dish that I spontaneously created one night. My wife now requests it regularly and claims it is her favorite meal.

My most recent creative triumph was completely rearranging my living/dining room after a year of living in my place. It can be such a chore moving the whole tv/cable/video game shebang when you aren’t 100% sure, but this change was totally worth it and made my place feel new.

I’ve got a nonfunctioning floor grate from when the house had an old-fashioned central heating (not a/c) system. People walking to the hallway with the bathroom and bedrooms either have to step on it (resulting in a thunk) or edge around it. I thought of a way to get rid of the grate and make a cool design statement on the floor. I got some funky faux bois wrapping paper and am going to stick it on a piece of plywood that will fill out the space.

My most creative idea was buying different patterned fabric for table runners at our wedding, because now my mom is using the fabric to make a quilt for their bedroom!

I cannot think of anything extremely unique, but have had success with some DIY staples like spray painting old chandeliers and using inexpensive napkins to make pillow covers.

I suppose my most creative endeavor was writing an entire novel during National Novel Writing Month last year.

I think I was most creative when it came to planning our wedding.. especially our table names (all different places we’ve been together/came from with a picture of us at that place) — it was so fun to do that project and people loved it!

When I bought my condo, I was a little disappointed that the sink and the refrigerator were on opposite sides of the galley style kitchen because it would be impossible to hook up the water to the refrigerator. Or so I thought, until I realized that the refrigerator shares a wall with the bathroom sink! I drilled a hole through the wall, tapped the water line going to the sink, and before I knew it I had water hooked up the the refrigerator. I was thrilled!

IDEA ME:
Using non-Christmasy Christmas ornaments to dress up old chandeliers. It gives them a real funky, unique look. I always shop the after Christmas sales to get the best deals.
Andrea S. says
IDEA ME! And I actually just came up with a creative idea on the spot at my mother-in-laws house. She showed me two really cute placemats she got at Target but didn’t know what to do with them since she only had two. I told her to open one of the seams, stuff them and make pillows out of it. I was surprised and impressed with myself.

“IDEA ME”…today…did you know the spray nozzle of the windex bottle fits perfectly to a bottle of distilled white vinegar? No need to relabel and rewrite directions for the cleaning lady! Whoo-Hoo!
Misty says
Idea me! When we bought our house there was a small stack of bricks in the garage. Those bricks have been repurposed several times in different projects around the yard. Someday they will find a final resting place (or at least a long term resting place).

IDEA ME!! I’m so bad at being crafty and decorating, but I’m really pleased with myself right now! I just moved into a new apartment, and the granite sinks in the bathroom are exposed underneath. I desperately needed the storage space, but everything I tried looked way too college dorm-y for this thirty-something. So I bought a drapery panel (that matches my shower curtain accent color) and cut off the bottom half and hung it beneath the sink with a tension rod. It hides the stuff underneath and actually looks nice and finished! Sometimes I surprise myself :)

My MOST creative idea, like, ever. Eek! I’m cracking under the pressure! The creative idea I’m grooving on now is that to solve a teensy laundry room I made and distressed ladder and hung it above the washer/dryer so now I can hang clothes from hangers on the rungs of the ladder. Right out of the dryer = less ironing, hooray! And it is a bit more customized, eye-friendly, than installing a dowel bar.
