***This giveaway is no longer expecting entries – see who won below!***
Random.org once again spun its wonderful wheel of randomness and selected our two winners as… Amy @ Larryspearslive.com and Amanda Deerr. Congrats ladies!
Raise your hand if you want a $50 Lowe’s gift card. Or better yet, give me a “hootie hoo.” And if the thought of being one of two lucky winners doesn’t instantly get your brain spinning with all of the potential projects that you could tackle, Lowe’s Creative Ideas will happily fill your head with… wait for it… creative ideas. You may already know of the free Lowe’s Creative Ideas magazines (if not, you can subscribe to ’em here), but even we didn’t realize how much content they have on their website and Facebook page. And along with bigger building and DIY ideas they’ve also got decor tutorials (like stamping curtains) and crafty stuff (like making silhouette art) too.
- PRIZE: A $50 gift card to Lowe’s courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas

I guess my most creative idea is using my super powerful vacuum attachment to suck gunk out of the sink drain. Gross, but better than touching it. yuck…

I like to leave the windows open at night, but my son’s door always rattles if there’s even the slightest breeze. So I put one of those sad, pathetic, I-lost-my-partner-in-the-wash socks between the door and the frame. Problem solved!

I had my husband build me ‘ledges’ for the hallway wall, out of flooring many years ago before ledges were stylish. I have an array of artwork that I like to rotate seasonally and I can lean these up against the wall using the ledges and change things out as often as I want – no nail holes!

Idea Me!!! I recently did a mini front porch makeover, well I made the honey-do list and my hubby did most of the work:) my favorite part was the railing he built between our two square columns. I never realized how finished that makes the porch look! I thought my makeover was pretty creative!! Oh and speaking of Lowes, we found out during this project that my hubby get a veterans discount at lowes, so now that Is our go-to-home improvement store….no more running back and forth, price checking for us!

IDEA ME! I made my daughter a new mobile for her room over the weekend! Fun – and creative!

I have been using tea canisters (from gypsy teas/republic of teas/etc) filled with rocks for bookends in our current apartment and it is a great and super cheap idea that also allows us as many book ends as we could possibly need without buying them…we just reuse what we already have!

IDEA ME! I think my most genius solution for a cheap and cool coat rack for the front door area was using 2 MOLDER bath hook racks from IKEA . $2.99 a piece. Super cool and has a sculptural/Japanese look!

You know, I have so many creative ideas, it’s hard to even pick one. But I do have dreams for busting up the tile floor in my bathroom and pouring concrete down and painting it pretty.

IDEA ME: I found a wall decal that I loved! But, I didn’t want it to be attached to the wall. So, I “mod podged” it on to a large canvas. That worked ok and I actually enjoyed lots of white space for it to be more of a piece of art. Then I noticed you could see the vinyl outline. So, I turned to my friend MP (mod podge) again and tour strips of tissue paper to conceal the lines. It added some depth and texture and hid my lines. (P.S. I feel the same way about MP as you do about ORB.)

Harry Potter midnight showing a few years back. I downloaded the lightning bolt font from a website and typed out “Team Harry” on a word document in yellow and red (if you’re still reading this you must be a HP fan?!) printed it on iron on paper and slapped it on a plain white tee! ta daaa!

i just decorated a full wall of my bedroom with cheap frames and pictures i found at flea markets, consignment shops, etc. took me about 3 hours to hang them all, and i still have to go through and make sure they’re all level.

I have had so many different ideas of storage containers, lamps, chairs, etc. that I have wanted to create and use as props for my photography business that I’m trying to start. It’s hard to start a business in this economy and expecially in such a small town like the one I live in where there is already three other very good photographers that I’m trying to compete against. Money is very tight right now and I know that that $50 would help me out so much!!

And the most creative thing I’ve ever tackled was stealing an old blue print (the kind that were actually blue) from an abandoned house and hanging it in my living room. Wah, wah, wah…

Teaching myself (via YouTube) how to switch out electrical outlets and light switches. It’s surprisingly easy and can safe a TON of money when changing out a whole house. Not very creative but a huge money and time saver. Plus I could buy a lot of outlets and switches at Lowes!

One thing that has recently made my life much easier isn’t home improvement related at all–it’s just a simple notebook that I’ve started to carry with me to jot down all my to-do’s for the day. I can also add notes, phone numbers, sketches, etc. WAY better than the zillions of post-its I had floating around before!

My most creative idea was simple, yet has made a dramatic difference in my kitchen. I have a wide, plain white door which leads from my kitchen into my garage, and I wanted a way to jazz it up. I repainted the door, still white, to clean it up and then nailed two metal wall plaques purchased on clearance to add both color and texture to the door. The result is amazing and made the door blend in beautifully with my newly painted olive cabinets (to cover up the old knotty pine)!

The most creative and one I’m in the middle of is for my oldest son’s room. His theme is Jurassic Park so instead of simply decorating a desk with dinosaurs I am making a desk with a plexiglass top that resembles the hatching table from the Jurassic Park laboratory.

Our old townhouse didn’t have space for an overhead pot rack. So I found a couple of sleek brushed nickel towel racks to mount to the wall and used S hooks to hang colanders, etc. I loved the display and it kept everything at hand but out of the way.

Not earth shattering, but building a ramp at the backdoor for our dachshund that has back issues was a pretty snazzy idea. My DH did a great job of figuring out the angles and building on uneven concrete and he’s really proud of it.

One of my most creative ideas was to take off the bed frame from the bed, and just have our bed rest on the floor with the headboard behind it. Our mattress was actually comfier on the floor than on a bed frame! Who would have thought? I sleep better than I have in years.

Idea Me! I made a front porch table out of an old wooden cable wire spool.
