Random.org once again spun its wonderful wheel of randomness and selected our two winners as… Amy @ Larryspearslive.com and Amanda Deerr. Congrats ladies!
Raise your hand if you want a $50 Lowe’s gift card. Or better yet, give me a “hootie hoo.” And if the thought of being one of two lucky winners doesn’t instantly get your brain spinning with all of the potential projects that you could tackle, Lowe’s Creative Ideas will happily fill your head with… wait for it… creative ideas. You may already know of the free Lowe’s Creative Ideas magazines (if not, you can subscribe to ’em here), but even we didn’t realize how much content they have on their website and Facebook page. And along with bigger building and DIY ideas they’ve also got decor tutorials (like stamping curtains) and crafty stuff (like making silhouette art) too.
- PRIZE: A $50 gift card to Lowe’s courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “IDEA ME” and…

Maybe you’ve just stumbled upon a simple household trick that makes your life easier (like letting the dog eat scraps around the highchair instead of vacuuming)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 14th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
- PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)

IDEA ME! Maybe not the most creative, but most recent: Planned a Nancy Drew birthday party for my 11 yr old. Created a mystery of missing presents for the girls to solve which led them to clue after clue. They had to think hard and got lots of exercising around the complex before they found the birthday girls younger brother sitting with all the presents! Great fun!!

I’m not as creative as I would love to be but we just made an offer on a house, and I’d love the opportunity to try to have my creative moment.

We use an old dresser in our mudroom to hold all the going-out-the-door-stuff – sunglasses, umbrellas, mittens, hats, scarves, baseball caps. One small top drawer is my hubby’s “man purse”, the place where he stashes his wallet and phone and random receipts and whatnot. Having everything where my little ones can actually get to their things on their own has been a HUGE help.

Lately, the most creative thing I’ve come up with is to put a fold away DIY ironing board in my tiny, tiny, tiny laundry room. I don’t have room for a full size ironing board, and I hate those little tabletop ones. So I’m going to buy some plywood and batting and use spare fabric I have to make my own. Then I’m going to attach it to the wall with foldable brackets. Voila! A cute foldaway ironing board!

My most recent creative idea was taking an “it’s-seen-better-days” dresser off a neighbor’s curb and turning it into a really cute buffet for outside. With a fresh coat of paint and some new pulls, it looks great and it holds bug spray, sun screen, and grill accessories.

Call it creative, or possibly OCD, but I took photos of my shoes, and taped them to the outside of the shoe boxes so I can find the pair I am looking for more quickly.

IDEA ME- My husband will tell you that his favorite of my creative ideas is a recipe that I came up with when I was pregnant and craving weird things. He loved it so much he still wants me to make it and my daughter is now 2 1/2!

I’m not the most creative person that is why I need help from places like Lowes and YHL!!

IDEA ME! I loved the idea of having a large portion of one of my walls in my office covered in cork so that I could fill it with inspiring art and photography.
I went to Target and picked up a bunch of 12″ squares mounted them on the wall with those 3M pull-off strips (so that I could remove on a whim without marring the walls) – but the squares were so thin you couldn’t get pushpins to stay in! Who knew!?
So my solution: Purchase 2 large black trifold presentation boards (you know – ala science project displays). After some prep to create one large unfolding board, I spray-adhesived the cork on top, added extra large 3M pull-off strips to the back and shazam! A dramatic cork display on the cheapity-cheap! I get compliments all the time.

IDEA ME! My most creative moment was “thinking” of turning my bed into a “Texas Cowgirl” wonder by blinging it out. My bed is black so I want to use white or pink rhinestones and spell out Cowgirl in Western Style across the headboard. Haven’t yet started the project but hoping to very soon!

IDEA ME! After years of searching for the perfect replacement frame for an old African textile, I decided to go frameless and haven’t looked back! It brings a nice modern touch to the artwork that wasn’t there before.

Okay my most”creative” Idea NOT THE SMARTEST.. lol when we purchased our new home the prev owner was handicapped, so there was in elevator in the back sun-room… I had this ‘great Idea’ to turn the sun room into a study/famiy room so long story short,we sold the elevator for pennies, & now we have a huge gaping whole in the room and we cant use it because now it needs a stabalizing wall under it… Sheesh if only I thought first…lol

Perhaps the time when I used a piece of the burlap basmati rice bag as backdrop for some framed art. (unprinted side up of course.)

IDEA ME! I used wooden windows from my dad’s old wood shop as a picture frame to display pictures of our grandparents and great-grandparents.

I wanted to change up the valances above the shutters in my dining room on the cheap and I’m not the best seamstress in the world, so I got fabric napkins from Bed, Bath, and Beyond- with my 20% off coupons of course and sewed them together. All of the seams were beautifully done already, so I just had to add a rod pocket. I was so inspired that I picked up four matching placemats and made them into a table runner!

I cut a pass-through opening in the wall to expose the under-the-stairs storage area in our family room then trimmed it out. The area is now a “play-house” with a nice window or a “stage” for puppet shows! The curtain matches the family room furniture on one side and is whimsical on the other.

My most recent BRILLIANT idea was a “deconstructed wine cart.” We took an Ikea shelf and attached an Ikea hanging glass holder for our wine glasses and then placed two wine bottle holders on the same wall. We have a small townhouse and we’ve learned what doesn’t go on the floor, must go on the walls.

My husband and I have an alcove in the corner of our living room that we’d like to close off to turn it in to a storage closet. I don’t know how ingenious it is – just stylish and awesome! – but we decided that rather than putting in a plain old door on a hinge, we’re going to make and install a barn door on tracks to close it off. We’ll send pictures when the project has been accomplished!

Had to be when my hubby realized you could use pop tabs as picture hangers. We wanted a picture hung, we were out of picture hangers, so instead of running to the store, I drank a Diet Coke and we had what we needed. Thanks for a great giveaway!

Having a baby this year was my biggest organizational challenge! All those little clothes and socks and pjs and hats and bibs? There was no way I was going to be hanging up endless outfits–and also have to sort through a very generous collection of clothes ranging from newborn sizes to 18 months old. I sorted all of the clothes by size and stored the larger sizes (anything bigger than whatever next size he’ll be wearing) in plastic bins, reserving one for clothes he’s outgrown that we want to save for a potential younger sibling or to turn into a quilt. The current and “next size” clothes are sorted into pretty canvas boxes, labeled (bibs, sleepwear, 3-6 month tops, 3-6 month bottoms, etc.) and placed on shelves in the closet. It is so easy to grab an outfit and equally easy to put it away.

Recently I came across the idea of soaking a rag in fabric softener, letting it dry and using it in the dryer as a many times re-useable dryer sheet. I hate adding it with that silly little ball bc too many times its opened up at the wrong time and stained laundry. This method gives just the right amount of fresh scent to my laundry and makes then nice and soft. :)

I figured out a way to keep my students’ work all in one composition notebook without adding dividers or a table of contents: use the front right-side up like usual; turn it upside down and use the back ALSO suddenly right-side up for the other section. No loose papers, no spirals to get caught on things, no torn edges or crumpled stuff… loved it.
