***This giveaway is no longer expecting entries – see who won below!***
Random.org once again spun its wonderful wheel of randomness and selected our two winners as… Amy @ Larryspearslive.com and Amanda Deerr. Congrats ladies!
Raise your hand if you want a $50 Lowe’s gift card. Or better yet, give me a “hootie hoo.” And if the thought of being one of two lucky winners doesn’t instantly get your brain spinning with all of the potential projects that you could tackle, Lowe’s Creative Ideas will happily fill your head with… wait for it… creative ideas. You may already know of the free Lowe’s Creative Ideas magazines (if not, you can subscribe to ’em here), but even we didn’t realize how much content they have on their website and Facebook page. And along with bigger building and DIY ideas they’ve also got decor tutorials (like stamping curtains) and crafty stuff (like making silhouette art) too.
- PRIZE: A $50 gift card to Lowe’s courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “IDEA ME” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about your all-time most creative idea. Was it an awesome solution to an everyday problem? A delicious spur-of-the-moment recipe? An ingenious fix to home decor dilemma? Maybe you’ve just stumbled upon a simple household trick that makes your life easier (like letting the dog eat scraps around the highchair instead of vacuuming)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 14th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
- PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We weren’t paid or perked for hosting this giveaway, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas.

And the best idea I’ve had thus far in the life of our house is figuring out how much more room we could get out of our tiny kids’ bedroom if I moved the dresser INTO the closet! MUCH more play space!

In the spirit of Fall and Football season I try to come up with fun and playful appetizers on game days. Corn dog muffins, ranch chicken chili, pizza dip with home made garlic bread, etc, etc.!!

No creative ideas here; hopefully, a gift card to Lowe’s would spark my creativity!

IDEA ME! My latest great idea came about when my hubby was having trouble matching socks to his dress pants in the morning in the dark. The blue and black pants and socks are very close in color and he’d usually figure out once he got to work that he had on blue socks with his black pants. Now when I hang up the dress pants when doing laundry I put the matching pair of socks in the pocket. Now he just has to grab them off the hanger and he’s all set!

My husband’s bookcases had very tall fixed shelves. So I took some soda fridge boxes, stuffed them with smaller boxes and paper, and used them as risers at the back so that we could read the titles and store two rows of paperbacks on each shelf.

Ooh. Love this idea. You could probably use some scrap wood and make it presentable in case it shows as well.

IDEA ME! I’m not the most creative person, that’s why I love reading your blog for inspiration but I would have to say the most recent thing I am proud of is spray painting my bathroom light ORB instead of having to purchase a new one! Ha! I’m gradually catching on to some DIY tricks!

IDEA ME! I’d say our wedding placecards which were made from local beach stones were pretty creative.

my most creative idea was in university, I had a tiny room in a tiny house, but it had 10ft ceilings (even in the closet!). I made a pulley system closet extension, and a desk that folded back onto the wall when not in use that had artwork and a try erase board on the back!

I solved the problem I was having w/tangled necklaces inside my over-crowded jewelry box by taking an empty frame that I spray painted glossy brown, afixing a cork board inside of it, and using silver metal pushpins inserted into the cork to make pegs for my necklaces to hang out. It makes accessorizing a lot easier in the mornings!

Idea me!! Most of my creative ideas lately start out with, “Well, on Young House Love (or Pinterest)…..” My husband tolerates it. I used some of your table decorating ideas at a wedding shower last weekend. Very cute.

Let’s see… looking back, the vast “idea” of buying a foreclosure that reeked and shone with graffiti was pretty creative. Now it has bamboo floors, a new kitchen (with built-in wine rack!), new paint everywhere, and one living room wall covered in white birch trees that I chalked on. It may not all have been original idea, but boy it took some creativity!

“IDEA ME” and “hootie hoot” too; I want that Lowe’s card to finish off the baseboard in my bathroom!
Bonus Question: I purchased an ugly gold faucet from Lowe’s for $4.99 and used my Valspar nickel finish spray and few other products to transform it to something so darn gorgeous, surprising the husband and astonishing the family!

My grandfather tied washers on the end of the pull strings for bare bulb lights in the basement. The weight of the washer makes grabbing the string a lot easier…especially in the dark.

IDEA ME! In college, two of my friends and I decided to rent a 2-bedroom apartment off campus. It had a huge living room/dining room combo, so we built a wall out of cardboard, styrofoam, cement blocks and fabric to partition off part of the living room for another bedroom. The management couldn’t believe how well done it was. I lived in the “room” and loved it. It certainly was a creative way to split rent 3 ways!

I had a frame that didn’t go with my kitchen decor after I redecorated. So I took it apart, spray painted it, and then found an old wedding card that had the perfect quote and not to mention matched perfectly with my gray and aqua I was going with. Now I have a frame that matches and a card that I get to look at from many years ago.

I love the Lowe’s Creative idea magazines! One of the things we share with all parents is to install a hotel lock on your front door. We have 2 kids (3 and 1) and it was fairly quickly learned how to open the front door. This solved all problems and added a little more security :)
