***This giveaway is no longer expecting entries – see who won below!***
Random.org once again spun its wonderful wheel of randomness and selected our two winners as… Amy @ Larryspearslive.com and Amanda Deerr. Congrats ladies!
Raise your hand if you want a $50 Lowe’s gift card. Or better yet, give me a “hootie hoo.” And if the thought of being one of two lucky winners doesn’t instantly get your brain spinning with all of the potential projects that you could tackle, Lowe’s Creative Ideas will happily fill your head with… wait for it… creative ideas. You may already know of the free Lowe’s Creative Ideas magazines (if not, you can subscribe to ’em here), but even we didn’t realize how much content they have on their website and Facebook page. And along with bigger building and DIY ideas they’ve also got decor tutorials (like stamping curtains) and crafty stuff (like making silhouette art) too.
- PRIZE: A $50 gift card to Lowe’s courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “IDEA ME” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about your all-time most creative idea. Was it an awesome solution to an everyday problem? A delicious spur-of-the-moment recipe? An ingenious fix to home decor dilemma? Maybe you’ve just stumbled upon a simple household trick that makes your life easier (like letting the dog eat scraps around the highchair instead of vacuuming)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 14th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
- PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We weren’t paid or perked for hosting this giveaway, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics courtesy of Lowe’s Creative Ideas.

Only creative thing I can think of was using wax paper to cover the window in our door when we realized we couldn’t get all the molding off to use frosted glass paint. You can’t tell it wasn’t originally frosted and it’s still holding up a year later!

Our house had giant, cheapo mirrors in all of the bathrooms so instead of running out and spending hundreds of dollars on new ones, we just bought wood, cut it, stained it, and put it up as a frame. It was way cheaper than replacing them and it made them look much nicer! Plus we never had to deal with taking the giant things off the wall – they are for sure a hazard.

IDEA ME! I repurposed old diaper boxes to make baskets/bins for on top of the fridge. Only cost me $3.99 for ribbon since I had everything else on hand!

I changed out my front exterior lighting all by myself. ;) I was pretty proud because I had never done it before and used my recent fan installation as inspiration.

When we moved into our house it was covered in wall paper – flowered and paisley wallpaper. And when we took the wallpaper down from our kitchen, we learned that the previous owners had done something to the wallpaper to make it stick really well… too well. When the wallpaper came down, so did layers of drywall. yuck. So I spongepainted our kitchen to look like it was ‘marbled’ and now you can’t really tell what a mess the walls were. when the day comes that I want to paint the kitchen walls, I know that I will need to ‘mud’ the walls, but until that day comes, I will enjoy our ‘marble walls.’ :)

IDEA ME! I hope there’s a creative idea or two in my dissertation (but at this point, who cares, just want to finish the thing!)

IDEA ME! Our most creative idea (DIY anyway) has been to turn our old unused t.v. stand into a fab desk! We couldn’t even sell the thing on Craigslist it was so bad and now it functions perfectly in our office! Here’s a pic: http://www.flickr.com/photos/emskyrooney/5449335959/in/set-72157608816624298

We found an old wooden ladder in our pasture when we moved in and turned it into a quilt holder. It looks great with the old charm of the house!

The one thing I’ve been wanting to try, but just haven’t due to lack of time, is making a canvase rug. Lowes had one in their creative idea magazines a while back and I just love that idea for a canvas rug in our kitchen.

I know that chalboard paint is VERY in right now so its use wasn’t all that creative, but I decided to use it on the ugly oft-stained area underneath the bar/island in the kitchen. I can’t believe how perfect it looks now that it’s there!

IDEA ME! I found a dresser on the side of the road, knocked out some of the drawers, used the face of a drawer to open down, and turned it into a desk (with the help of my engineer brother!)

I’m still in love with my rainbow streamer install for my daughter’s “awesome” themed party (rainbows + butterflies+unicorns+5=awesome, or nerd-girl if you’re being cruel). We lined our porch with crepe paper streams hung from the ceiling, like a fringe curtain. 586 8ft lengths of streamers (its a big porch), in rainbow+hot pink, and I’m still in love with it.

One of my favorite things that I’ve made was a gift for my grandmother’s birthday last year. I decoupaged a glass vase with sheet music of a song she used to sing to me as child. She loved it!

So I said, “How many ideas can one person come up with?”
“It’s endless,” he said.
“But there can be a lot of bad ideas,” I noted. “What if I come up with a bad idea and nobody likes it? What if you don’t like it?”
“You’ll never know unless you throw it out there,” he said. “Does everybody always have to like everything you create?”
“No, it’s virtually impossible for everyone to like everything,” I said.
“Exactly,” he said and smiled. “Create for the sheer joy of creating. IDEA ME.”
My most creative idea is the book I’m writing. :)

Well we recently bought a house, and we havent done too much inside but I have many ideas. One diy i bought materials for but have yet to do is painting matching art to our recently updated master bedroom. This room was grandma peach with one wall of wallpaper(horrible to take off). Now our whole room is blue/brown, right down to the dressers( my boyfriend stained his and painted mine) I saw an idea on your page to make some art that would incorporate the colors of the room and stripes in the bed set. :)

Using decorative contact paper inside our clear bathroom medicine cabinet keeps things looking neater and gives us a bit more privacy… now if my husband and I could only agree on whose idea that was in the first place… :-)

We are remodeling part of our kitchen and the new slide out trash cans were going to sit really low, so I figured why not put in a shelf and raise them up two feet.
