Thanks to random.org’s trusty randomness, we’ve got our winner and it is… Gretchen B (whose husband is “a mastermind with wood. He can make almost anything, at times he has surprised himself at what he canters up.”). That sounds familiar. Congrats Gretchen!
Sorry this post is a few minutes late (380 pages of book proofing = crazytown). But Happy Almost Father’s Day everyone! To help us celebrate, Home Depot is giving away an $100 man card, er, gift card so one lucky reader gets a fast and easy way to show their handy hubby/dad/uncle/brother/grandpa/neighbor how much they care… or how much they really want them to finish that project. Home Depot’s also throwing in a RYOBI 18V ONE+ Lithium Ion Compact Drill Kit (valued at $150) because no tool collection is complete without a power drill and driver. Plus this one weighs less than three pounds and the battery lasts four times longer than your everyday battery. So guys, I’ll guess we’ll all have to come up with another excuse to take a break from our to-do lists.
- PRIZE: A $100 Home Depot gift card and a RYOBI 18V ONE+ Lithium Ion Compact Drill Kit
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … what’s the “manliest” quality of the person you’re celebrating this coming weekend. Do you admire your dad’s ability to fix anything? Do you just love seeing the father of your children with a little bit of stubble? Or maybe the way your brother plays with your nieces earns him major guy-points in your book?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, June 13th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Home Depot.

Happy Father’s Day!!
My husband has recently become very “manly”… he accidentally locked our puppy in the car and almost broke the window to get him out in lieu of waiting 30 minutes for the locksmith. “I felt like my child was endangered!”

Happy Father’s Day!
Hubs isn’t a dad yet, so we still celebrate our dads. My mom and dad are both pretty handy, but dad is always willing to do the “icky” jobs (crawling in the crawlspace, etc.) around the house. He also handles other man-of-the-house duties, such as sitting in his man chair watching football. He is the official scooper of ice cream, maker of guacamole, and mixer of margaritas. Here’s to you, Dad!

Happy father’s day!! My dad passed away 13 years ago – far too young, but he was a great collector of “treasures” and I might have inherited some of that so I have plenty of projects to complete and things to fix and would use this in his memory :)

My dad is, of course, the greatest man I know. The manliest thing about him is the way he can literally solve any problem he encounters. From a home improvement issue (the whole family calls him MacGyver because he can do crazy things with everyday materials) to dealing with a crying teenage girl (me, 10 years ago, when my first serious boyfriend dumped me), he is always there for us!

I love how my hubby does most of the shopping & cooking to nourish our family. I’ve seen him stirring a batter while cursing televised game. (Though he’s had to stop cursing the game because little pitchers have big ears!) I know he’d donate this gift card to our son’s treehouse cause! :-) (And he might even help build it!)
