Our winner, thanks to the willy nilly matchmaking skills of random.org, is… Sharon (who’s hoping to be matched up with a piece of art to finish off a master bedroom renovation). Congrats!
Art.com is full of affordable stuff to help solve Naked Wall Syndrome (like these horse prints that we recently purchased) so we’re psyched that they’re giving away an $250 gift card to one of you lucky folks this week. They’ve launched a new tool called Match My Image that promises to come in handy next time you’re hunting for the perfect piece. You just upload an image – maybe of a fabric that you’re trying to coordinate or a photo that you’re using as inspiration – and it spits out a slew of art in that color scheme/vein that’s available for purchase. Here’s what we happened upon when we uploaded a couple of personal pictures (a photo of the river here in Richmond and a painting that Clara recently whipped up). Fun, right?
- PRIZE: A $250 gift card to Art.com
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “MATCH ME!” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: … tell us if you’ve ever tried playing matchmaker? Or has someone else tried to match you up? How did it all work out? Was it amazing? Or should you (or your would-be matchmaker) stick to their day job?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, July 13th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The United States
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We weren’t paid or perk’d for hosting this giveaway, we just take them on to reward our lovely readers! See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from Art.com.

MATCH ME! I’ve never attempted matchmaking nor been the victim of matchmaking schemes, but my parents were forced to meet by a friend and sister-in-law working together…despite their reluctance to meet each other, they ended up getting married 4 months later and they’re still happily married :-)

I played matchmaker once, and I’m happy to say I’m 1:1. They’ve been together 4 years, they are expecting their first baby in February, and I have the honor of helping them celebrate their wedding in September! After success like that I don’t think I can try to play matchmaker ever again!

MATCH ME!
My Grandma tried to set me up with a “nice, young man” who worked at the hospital where she volunteered. I was living overseas at the time, but somehow she thought we could make the long distance thing work and she gave him my address. He wrote me letters every once in a while for over a year – but eventually I had to break it to him that the relationship just wasn’t going to take off.
Kelly says
Match Me! I actually have matched 2 successful couples! Maybe I should do it more often…
Sharon says
MATCH ME!
Someone tried to fix me up with someone once. The guy was nice enough, but no sparks. That’s the part that a matchmaker can’t anticipate or force!

No, never tried it. I think I would be very uncomfortable if someone tried to match me up, so I don’t do it to other people.

My parents met on a blind date and got married 9 months later, so I guess the mutual friends who set them up knew what they were doing!
Caitlin says
MATCH ME!
I don’t normally set people up because I’m terrible at it lol
My friend actually tried to set me up with my husband when we were younger and didn’t know at the time that we already had feelings for each other. It was pretty funny when our friend found out.

Match Me!! Ive never matched anyone but I was matched to my husband of four years(9 all together). The matchmaker was my best friend from childhood that moved away, not far, but he had to go to a diff. school. then we all got to high school and meet up again. He match his best friend and I in 2002 and the rest is history!!! :)

MATCH ME!
I fixed my best friend up with an acquaintance (a close friend of a different close friend). They were very happy for about six months, then it blew up due to differing ideas about family structure, marital responsibilities, whether the wife works, etc. My friend was left brokenhearted.
So I doubt I’ll be match-making again any time soon!

I played matchmaker once to my high school friend (Stef) and my college room-mate (Kyle). They are married (14 years!) and living in Vermont (in a cute farm house) and have two spirited boys!
As for what I need “matched,” my fiance is a hunter and killed a boar. We have the most ugly taxodermy mounted boar that is in our living room. I have decorated the boar with seasonal custumes to liven it up in our living room for the past year. This Gift Certificate would help me justify getting some new art for this wall. **pick me*** please?

Played matchmaker with a friend from out of town who was visiting for the weekend. Took her over to my friend’s house to meet him, and his dog (in a crazed, but loving way) bit her in the face. Needless to say, the relationship didn’t go far.
