Our winner, thanks to the willy nilly matchmaking skills of random.org, is… Sharon (who’s hoping to be matched up with a piece of art to finish off a master bedroom renovation). Congrats!
Art.com is full of affordable stuff to help solve Naked Wall Syndrome (like these horse prints that we recently purchased) so we’re psyched that they’re giving away an $250 gift card to one of you lucky folks this week. They’ve launched a new tool called Match My Image that promises to come in handy next time you’re hunting for the perfect piece. You just upload an image – maybe of a fabric that you’re trying to coordinate or a photo that you’re using as inspiration – and it spits out a slew of art in that color scheme/vein that’s available for purchase. Here’s what we happened upon when we uploaded a couple of personal pictures (a photo of the river here in Richmond and a painting that Clara recently whipped up). Fun, right?
- PRIZE: A $250 gift card to Art.com
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “MATCH ME!” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: … tell us if you’ve ever tried playing matchmaker? Or has someone else tried to match you up? How did it all work out? Was it amazing? Or should you (or your would-be matchmaker) stick to their day job?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, July 13th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The United States
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We weren’t paid or perk’d for hosting this giveaway, we just take them on to reward our lovely readers! See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from Art.com.

Never tried to be a matchmaker – I’m lucky I found a match myself as weird as I am!

I’ve never played matchmaker. However, I was once set up by my host mama in Honduras… which always makes for a great story!
Amanda says

My grandmother is always trying to play matchmaker. Terrible, terrible idea. She tends to forget about age differences, especially.

I’m waiting for my turn to play matchmaker… I have two friends who I think might hit it off. One is newly single so I’m letting plenty of time pass before I try anything.

MATCH ME!
Less matchmaker…more…”oh wait, you didn’t KNOW you were in love with him? because i did.” the one time i tried to set my best friend up, she thought the guy was great…and then a really popular girl tried to date him…and then somehow he and i ended up dating. no hard feelings from the bff though. that same summer she and i started hanging out with this “super annoying guy” that she ended up marrying…duh. with their first baby girl on the way, i’d say i predicted pretty well! :)

MATCH ME!
I’ve never been the matchmaker but at one point my friend tried to match me up with this guy that she was friends with. I didn’t really want to be matched up I was happy single. About 2 weeks later I got a call asking to not be mad at her because she was dating him. Its cool because he could pass as my long lost brother.
I was the maid of honor at her wedding and she will be the matron of honor at mine

MATCH ME!
I have been set up and it’s never worked out. I do have one co-worker who tries at least twice a year to match me up with someone and she’s used lines like “He’s nothing to look at” or “He lives in his parents’ basement” as if these statements will immediately attract me to this guy. Give me a freaking break!

MATCH ME! I did try to play friend matchmaker once and brought two of my groups of friends together. I was an utter failure that ended with one of my friends eating a paintball that she thought was a gumball. Never made that mistake again. Either of us.
Kim says
Match me! Never tried…I don’t think I would be very good at it. I’m sure I had friends that tried to match me up but they had the sense not to tell me about it.

I did play matchmaker once. For my best friend and a guy I worked with. They got married and had a kid. And he turned out to be a sociopath with an even crazier mother. They’re divorced now. I’m glad I could help facilitate such a rewarding relationship.

I didn’t intentionally match these folks, but my best male childhood friend and my husband’s closest female cousin matched themselves together at our wedding, and are still going strong despite being far from each other (he’s in the army) – does that count??:)

I played matchmaker once, but I barely knew the guy before I matched him up with my friend. It ended poorly, and even the thought of him annoys me now. Sorry, friend!
