Our winner, thanks to the willy nilly matchmaking skills of random.org, is… Sharon (who’s hoping to be matched up with a piece of art to finish off a master bedroom renovation). Congrats!
Art.com is full of affordable stuff to help solve Naked Wall Syndrome (like these horse prints that we recently purchased) so we’re psyched that they’re giving away an $250 gift card to one of you lucky folks this week. They’ve launched a new tool called Match My Image that promises to come in handy next time you’re hunting for the perfect piece. You just upload an image – maybe of a fabric that you’re trying to coordinate or a photo that you’re using as inspiration – and it spits out a slew of art in that color scheme/vein that’s available for purchase. Here’s what we happened upon when we uploaded a couple of personal pictures (a photo of the river here in Richmond and a painting that Clara recently whipped up). Fun, right?
- PRIZE: A $250 gift card to Art.com
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “MATCH ME!” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: … tell us if you’ve ever tried playing matchmaker? Or has someone else tried to match you up? How did it all work out? Was it amazing? Or should you (or your would-be matchmaker) stick to their day job?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, July 13th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The United States
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We weren’t paid or perk’d for hosting this giveaway, we just take them on to reward our lovely readers! See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from Art.com.

I tried matchmaking at a recent wedding I was at, and the two are still talking :) so far, so good!

MATCH ME !!!
I was “set up” with a friend’s cousin. We went on 2 bore-filled dates and the guy had ZERO personality and asked me to attend his brother’s wedding with him. Clearly I said no and it didn’t work out. He emailed me after saying “he found a really hot date anyways” haha
Grace says
MATCH ME! I’ve been trying to play matchmaker recently (very cautiously) but so far keep hitting snags!
Kim Dunn says
MATCH ME!!! I’ve thought about hooking up some of my single friends before, but knowing my luck, it’d just be a whole bucket of awkwardness :)

Match Me (please)!!
I refuse to play matchmaker – never turns out well!

MATCH ME!
A friend of mine tried to play matchmaker for me last summer. She set me up with a guy and we went out, made out, and said we’d see each other again. We talked a little bit after the date, but then he stopped calling. A month or two later, he came out and told everybody that he had started hormone therapy to become a woman.
So yeah. I don’t let anybody set me up anymore.

Match Me! I’ve never played matchmaker before. Seems like tricky business.

Match me!! I played matchmaker once – when they got engaged I thought I was a pro. Then the wedding was called off & I quit that job. So close though…
Sydney says
Match me!
My husband and I were “matched” by a friend. She simply handed each of us the other’s email address (after asking permission, of course) and told us she thought we’d complement each other nicely. We’re coming up on our 2nd wedding anniversary.

Match Me!
I am a horrible matchmaker, but a good wing woman!

MATCH ME!
In college, my roomate played matchmaker and set up her boyfriends good friend with another one of our roomates on a date. It didn’t turn out, but lucky for me, because me and the boyfriends friend are now happily married 5 years later!

My friend considers herself thematchmaker for my boyfriend and me – but at the time there was no way she thought we would be together 7 years later (only been official for 8 months). Not sure she deserves the title :-)

I prefer to stay out of peoples relationships, that is tricky business!

MATCH ME!
I matched my husband’s best friend with my sister (who is my best friend). I realize this could have gone horribly wrong, but luckily for all of us, it worked out, and they’ve been married a little over a year now.

Match Me!
My husband and I met on a blind date. We were matched up by his cousin’s wife who works with my mother. Not a bad match!!!

My mom tried to play matchmaker when I was younger and the results were awkward to say the least.
Missy says
Match me! I met my best friend’s husband before she knew him and after talking with him for 5 minutes, I knew he was the one for her. She was in a serious relationship with another guy but things worked out, they met and never looked back. They got married a short 4 months later and are each other’s world. Yay for match making!! :)

Plenty of hypothetical matchmaking for a fun game but none in real life..

My college big sister will tell you that she matched my husband and I. Does it count if we were all good buds hanging together? Hmm, not sure. Whatever, she can have the credit if it makes her feel good. :)
Elizabeth says
Match me. I stink at matchmaking but I love being married!
Emily says
Match me!
I played matchmaker twice now. The first time ended up working out and now they are married for almost three years! And the second time, I thought would work out great, but unfortunately after a couple years, they broke up. 50% success isn’t too though…. :)
Heather E says
Match me! Honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever played matchmaker or had someone try to set me up. And I think both of these are for the best…
Jewel says
Match me! I have tried match making once – failure!
Laura Bellamy says
Match Me! Definately a dangerous enterprise, matchmaking.
Laura says
Match Me! I’ve never played matchmaker, but someone once set me up on a date with their boyfriends co-worker. It didn’t go well at all. He had borderline stalkerish behavior :-/
Hollie says
MATCH ME! Right out of college, I took a job just to start bringing in some income. I was neither fond of my work nor many of my coworkers, who were worse than any quilting circle when it came to gossip and meddling in others’ affairs. These women were very insistent on matching me up with another colleague, in whom I wasn’t at all interested. Their only criteria for making this “perfect” match? “Hollie,” one said, “he reads books!”
Leeanne says
Match Me!!!
I’ve tried, no success…yet!
Kelly says
MATCH ME!!!! PLEASE! :)
I pretty much set up my brother and his wife. I had a college class with her and mentioned several times how alike she and my brother were. The next semester they met in another college class and a couple of weeks later she noticed a picture of me at my parent’s house. They dated for 5 years and married for 2 years.
Melissa says
Match Me-yeah, I totally tried to play matchmaker with two of my good friends who are both hysterical. They both have a really dry sense of humor and I thought-this is perfect! I’ll invite them both to a comedy club with a bunch of other friends-how perfect could that be??!! Well my husband pointed out really fast (after we had all already arrived)-“Hey your girlfriend is 6’2 and our friend that you are trying to set her up with is 5’7. OOPS.
courtney says
Match Me!
I don’t think I’ve ever played matchmaker – I don’t know that anyone would trust me to!
Cheryl M says
“MATCH ME!”
After years of failures I’ve learned to leave well enough alone…if it’s meant to be it’ll happen on it’s own without interference from me! In the past I was “set up” numerous times and believe me I felt like I had been “set up”. It was never a good match!
Dana says
MATCH ME!! :)
Kristin says
MATCH ME! I’ve never played matchmaker, but I’ve been the matchee several times. I actually had one such date attempt to take the silverware from the restaurant. And in classic style, his credit card was declined at the end of the eyes-glazed-over-boring-monopolized-conversation-ridden meal. And neither of those things is the “best” part, which can’t be detailed on a family-friendly blog.
Dana says
I tried one time, and one time only, and it failed miserably. I will leave the match making to the professionals!

I really want to play matchmaker for my friends Joe and Terra but she lives out west and he lives in DC. They’d be perfect together. :(

MATCH ME! I played matchmaker years ago… the relationship lasted about 3 years and I still have two best friends from it!
