Random.org had a tough job of sifting through nearly 7,000 jewelry hungry ladies (and gentlemen!) but has selected two random winners as… Lisa S. (who, like many, always wears her wedding ring but never gets sick of it because her husband did a great job) and SJ (who also wears her wedding and engagement rings out everyday). Congrats!
Sherry here. I don’t usually write the giveaway posts, but we’re making an exception since I was the one who twisted John’s arm into this week’s giveaway. Instead of our usual DIY & decor-related prizes, this week we’re giving away some body decor that was DIYed (well, created) by two talented jewelry designers. Yup, we have two hundred dollars worth of sparkly, sparkly jewelry for ya (or for your mom/wife/sis/girlfriend/grandma if you’re a dude).
The bling comes from two designers that I couldn’t love more (nope, I didn’t get any swag to say that – I truly love their stuff). The first is Erin McDermott, a Charlotte-based designer who studied at both my and John’s alma maters (FIT in NYC and UVA here in Virginia) and has been featured in Real Simple. Here are some of my favorites things of hers:
And then there’s Towne & Reese, whose studio we crashed earlier this year. Not only do I love their stuff, but I love that they name their pieces after their friends’ children (Towne and Reese are the founders’ daughters’ names). And get this, Clara will actually have a piece named after her in their Spring collection. Do you know how excited that makes this geeky momma? Probably too excited. You bet I’m staking out their Facebook page for a sneak peek. Anyway here are some of my favorite things from their current collection:

I never take off my two, sterling silver rings (maybe because I love them so much, or maybe out of pure laziness!). I wear one on my left hand that spells out L-O-V-E and one on my right hand that consists of two small bands connected in the middle by a knott. My wedding ring makes me say “oooh shiny!” but I can’t wear it anymore because I’ve lost so much weight chasing my toddler around I can’t keep it on! It slipped off once already and I found it in the carseat days later. Until I get it resized, most days I don’t wear any jewelry!

Everyday I wear my shiny engagement and wedding bands from my
Gorgeous husband of 15 months:) they remind me of how lucky I am to have married the man of my dreams!
I also wear a Cape Cod bead bracelet that I bought near where my extended family lives in Mass. It reminds me of my family across the world, and how awesome they are. Living far away in Sydney, Australia is hard, but skype makes it easier :)

I wear my wedding & engagement rings and the Swiss watch my husband got me for our 5th anniversary almost every day. I have been looking for years for the perfect every day earrings, but nothing seems right yet. My sister got her husband to splurge for real diamond studs that have a screw on back so they’ll never come off. Maybe for my 10th.

Besides my wedding ring, I wear my grandmother’s wedding ring every day. It used to sit in my drawer because the band is worn thin in the back, but I realized it’s okay if it wears through someday. My grandmother decorated houses for a living, and she would have been the first to say that things are meant to be used and loved, not hidden away and preserved forever.

Oooh shiny! I like to wear simple jewelry so that I don’t have to take it off and I can wear it 24/7. When giving my husband ideas about engagement ring styles, I pointed out designs that would allow me to always wear the ring no matter where I may be. So I am always wearing my wedding rings, a Trinity Knot ring that my husband bought me a few years ago from the Dublin Irish Fest (in Ohio) and a pair of Trinity Knot earrings that I got while vacationing on Amelia Island.

I wear two sterling silver bracelets from the silversmith shop in Williamsburg, VA on my right arm (that’s how I learned to tell right from left, and I still have to check sometimes!). I wear a ring everyday that’s from Barcelona. I lived there to study architecture for a semester, and one of my favorite houses by Gaudi has a facade with bone-like elements. My mom gave me a silver ring with similar bone sculpting around it. It sounds weird, but it’s really beautiful and fun, and I wear it every day.

I wear a little gold bracelet everyday. It has a circle ring in the center that represents Karma. I never take it off (not even to shower!) it’s broken several times and the circle is turning silver and not quite a circle anymore, but its there to say “what goes around comes around”… and remind me that if I want kindness and good things to come to me, that’s what I need to give out!
