PAINT ME A PICTURE…and my favorite piece of one-of-a-kind artwork is a painting one of my friends did in college of a silhouette of girl with flowing hair. I love it because I know she made it, because it’s so feminine, the colors are great, and because it was the first piece of art she gave away. It’s a very special piece to me.

For my 20th birthday, my sister made a painting for me of a pink momma elephant with two baby elephants (to symbolize our mother, my sister, and myself). There is a quote from Dumbo:
“Rest your head close to my heart, never to part.”
It’s very meaningful; our mother died when I was 18. It sits on my mantle wherever I live. :-)

Paint me a picture . . . My partner and I bought our first “real” art a few months ago when we moved into our current apartment, and the two companion pieces we bought are my current favorite. We already had prints done by college friends and purchased at art fairs, but this seemed like a good expansion of the types in our collection. A commissioned piece would be another great step!

My boyfriend in college was an art major and made a beautiful painting of a woman sitting on a bed for a class. He gave it to me for my birthday, but knowing how modest and conservative I was, he kindly painted pants on her before it became mine. :)

I painted a painting of a sunflower years ago at an art camp. My whole family has some artistic talent and I am the one that kind of lacks in that department. But I tried days to paint a beautiful sunflower and the end result was great. My whole family was so proud of me and it still hangs in my room to this day.
