I don’t know of favorite, but one of my most memorable works of original art is a pair of paintings I did for a 10th grade chemistry project (that’s right… I did paintings for a chemistry project). One depicted the chemical process of sublimation, the other the formation of schlierin (waves that form when acid meets water). The went in my dorm in college, and then in my office for a few years.

We are definitely lacking in the original artwork area. In fact we are lacking in any art work. The most original thing we have framed in our house would be the pretty Christmas wrapping paper in deep purples with hints of gold. It was so nice it had to get framed.

My favourite picture is a collage my mom did for my husband and I for our first wedding anniversary. It has wonderful old victorian pictures of our grandparents, baby, wedding pictures of all the rest of our family; but in the middle is a picture of my husband and I on our wedding day. When she presented it to us we were very touched by what she said- ‘it took all those fantastic people, to make the turly amazing people pictures in the middle (us!)’.

PAINT ME A PICTURE!
An abstract scuplture/picture that my aunt made using twigs, muslin and paper. She did a whole series of these and they are framed in wooden shadow boxes. Kind of hard to explain, but they are layered and the layers are build into the frame. When we were kids we would help her collect different twigs and sticks, so when I look at it, it reminds me of my childhood.
