And the lucky random pet parent who’s about to get a cheery pet portrait is… Kirstin (who’s excited to get a portrait of Lola, her “adorable Boston Terrier/English Bulldog mix”). Congrats Kirstin AND Lola! UPDATE: Kirstin sent us a photo of Lola. Isn’t she a heartbreaker?
Somebody turned six last week around here. And his name rhymes with Schmurger (video evidence to come on Young House Life – we just have to upload it). Anyway, in honor of that exciting canine milestone, we’re hosting an exciting canine giveaway, courtesy of our good friend (and fellow Virginian) Lesli Devito. She’s got an incredible knack for turning a photo of your pet into a brightly colored, cheerful piece of artwork that’ll wake up any wall. So start digging out that perfect snapshot of your pup (or kitty or whatever else) and hunting for the perfect spot for that 20 x 20″ custom painting that just may be coming your way!

- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PAINT MY PET!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … what pet you’d want painted. And while you’re at it, what’s one thing that makes your pet especially lovable, weird, loyal, or just generally fun to have around?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, October 3rd at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The United States & Canada
- DISCOUNT: 15% off any order when you mention YHL with your order (through October 15th)

PAINT MY PET! Mae Mae, Basenji mix, is my hilarious furry niece, who stars in her own comic strip (aka my non-furry, 12-year old neice’s creation) and has her own Facebook page showing all the adventures she gets up to. She would give Snoopy a run for his money in the “coolest pooch” department!
Whitney says
PAINT MY PET! Of course I would have our sweet Murph painted. He’s an old Weimaraner and just about the cutest big guy ever…I would say little guy, but he’s not little at all. It just melts my heart how excited he gets when I come home from work. I get excited just because he’s excited…his little nub of a tail goes a mile a minute it shakes his whole body.
Irene says
PAINT MY PET! I would get a painting of our family dog, Simba. He’s so lovable when he tries to hide his emotions (in down position, but tail wagging like crazy).
Holly says
PAINT MY PET!
I would love to have a portrait of my dogs Bono (named after Bono of U2–one of my idols) and Jovie. They weren’t named after Bon Jovi. Anyway, Bono is so special. He howls at everything and he loves it when he sees people hugging. He jumps up to try to get in on the hug too! And we always call Jovie “Jealous Jovie” because, well, she’s super jealous of anyone getting attention.

My boys are twins (tuxedo clad felines). They sure like to get into your business.

PAINT MY PET! I feel bad for just choosing one (2 cats and a dog) but I would have to pick our dog Ned. Ned belonged to my dad and we acquired him about 6 months ago after my dad passed. He has been such a joy and a seamless addition to our family. We just love him so much and I think it would be a great way to honor my dad as well. Ned is so sweet and always “smiling”.
Leandra Molina says
PAINT MY PET! We have two dogs that are both so unique, Harlow tries to style my hair when she is excited, and Madrid is my shadow that never leaves my side.
LeslieAnn Johnson says
PAINT MY PET! I would see if I could sneak in both my cat and my dog (both tuxedos) because they’re just so classy!
Elizabeth says
Paint my pet! My terrier doxie mix Molly because she loves to run around like a crazy woman when I get home to let us know how excited she is to see me

I’d have my Beagle and German Short Haired Pointer painted because both have very strong personalities worth capturing on canvas.

Paint my pet!!!!!! It would be a toss up between a portrait of our dog Sanford, who passed away last Thanksgiving, or our other dog, Muddy, who has such a cute face. One funny thing about Muddy is that he is scared of hiccups. He weighs over 100lbs but if I get the hiccups, his tail goes between his legs and he hides. Its so weird! I wish I could be inside his head for just a split second to understand what he thinks is happening to me when I have the hiccups! ha!

“PAINT MY PET!” I’d love to have a picture of George hanging on the wall. He’s big, brown and has some crazy eyebrows.

This is a great giveaway! Literally, I was just googling yesterday to find someone who does pet paintings!
PAINT MY PET!
My Bichon Frise, Pancakes, would look lovely in a painting! She’s a puppy so she has a lot of energy, but she’s adorable and always happy to snuggle on the couch!
Michelle says
Paint my pet! I would love to have my dog Halle painted. She’s a 10 year old wheaten terrier who shows her belly to everyone who walks through the front door (for belly rubs of course); who still acts like a puppy most days; and who if living in the wild, would have no doubt lost out to natural selection considering her compulsion to devour inedible household items (think dog shaming at its worst) and general lack of good sense / self-preservation. All of this endears her to me.
Jen says
Paint my pet! I would love a portrait of my pup Gus, he is an adorable mutt that we rescued from a shelter. One of my favorite quirky things about Gus is his dainty ways, he is a 70lb dog that will leap & bound to avoid stepping on something that belongs to us that we may have left on the floor.

PAINT MY PET!
My puppy, Beacon (Mr. B for short)! He’s soft and cuddly, he knows he can only go on the couch when his blanket is there, he loves to eat my peanut butter toast, his back legs wiggle when you scratch his belly, he gives great nose kisses, and most importantly…he reminds me to be joyful in every single day, no matter how small the detail – he loves life and he reminds me to do the same!

PAINT MY PET!
I have a super cute picture of my 2 doggies together that would be perfect for this! We also have chickens and that could be pretty cute too…. My basset blue heeler mix has always been a handful, but he has so much personality and makes me laugh everyday.

Paint my pet! My dog is a rescue mutt, so finding artwork that resembles him is difficult to impossible. I would love to have his kissable face immortalized in a painting.

I have a 4-month-old cocker spaniel puppy who behaves terribly, but she’s sweet and loving when she’s not stealing my shoes.

Paint My Pet! I would have my dog, Max, painted. Despite being a 6 pound Yorkie, Max thinks he’s quite tough!
Sarah W. says
PAINT MY PET! I have two cats; I would have Milo’s portrait done because he’s older. He is a very vocal guy; he walks around the house having chirping type conversations with anyone who will engage him. He is the best.
Christina says
PAINT MY PET! I would love to have one of our Boston terrier, Mickey. He is the sweetest…. just don’t move him when he’s resting or he gets vicious!

PAINT MY PET! OMMMMG pretty please paint my baby girl Olive! She is a beautiful year old black pug! Here are a few reasons why I love her:
???
Responds to the name Olive.
Last seen chilling in the front yard, not giving a care.
Plays by her own rules and apologizes to no man, or dog.
Will flip out if offered cheese, especially string cheese.
Loves rolling in her own filth, but who doesn’t.
If she sees a ball she may go crazy.
Built svelte due to the chasing of balls.
Has a gorgeous smashed face, akin to that of a baby monkey.
I just wanted to share how awesome my dog is!
Morgan says
PAINT MY PET! My husband and I have a 20 pound cockapoo named Penley. He is actually named after an artist, Steve Penley!
Jennifer G. says
PAINT MY PET!!! Zoe, our border collie mix. She the best morning time snuggler!
Emily says
PAINT MY PET! Sam is a lab/boxer/pit bull mix with a little bit of hound in there. He has an excellent HHHOOWWWLLLLL, which is so much fun. At four, Sam is playful and curious and a sometimes naughty pup. He’s had our hearts since the beginning and we would love a fun painting of him.

I would have our Chocolate Lab, Trigger, painted. He’s our only “child” right now. He’s so spoiled that he gets his own bedroom to himself (we even layed down linoleum just for him). He’s a sweet boy mix with a little rotten in there!
Sara says
Paint my pet! I would love to have my dog – my first born, but since having twins a few years ago, often neglected baby! I want him to know how much he is still loved!

PAINT MY PET!
We have 2 black lab mix pound puppies, Scooter and Lilard. Our dogs are great because they tolerate our nearly two-year old when she’s running around and chasing them and our three month old when he’s crying and making them nervous. They were here first, but they’ve welcomed our kids into the family graciously!
Liz says
Paint my Pet….actually, my sister’s pet. He’s a spunky little Boston terrier named Nugget who is pretty sure he’s a person…as does my sister
Jenny says
PAINT MY PET! My weimaraner-pit-pointer mix puppy (Moki) would make a lovely subject for a portrait. Between his warm chocolate fur, beautiful light green eyes, and lopsided ears (one up, one down), I think he’s just precious… yeah, I’m biased, but I don’t care!
Jacqui says
PAINT MY PET! I would love to get a family shot of my two cats, Yzma and Kronk. They are especially awesome because they fit their characters perfectly: Yzma is the grumpy queen of the household and Kronk is the lovable, derpy character.
Kate says
Paint my pet! My miniature schnauzer Rockne! He also goes by Professsor Rockstar von Schnauzer D.O.G. (Distinguished Old Gangster). He’s the best.
