And the lucky random pet parent who’s about to get a cheery pet portrait is… Kirstin (who’s excited to get a portrait of Lola, her “adorable Boston Terrier/English Bulldog mix”). Congrats Kirstin AND Lola! UPDATE: Kirstin sent us a photo of Lola. Isn’t she a heartbreaker?
Somebody turned six last week around here. And his name rhymes with Schmurger (video evidence to come on Young House Life – we just have to upload it). Anyway, in honor of that exciting canine milestone, we’re hosting an exciting canine giveaway, courtesy of our good friend (and fellow Virginian) Lesli Devito. Paint my pet!
I have two dogs and a cat, but I would probably choose my cat Vanity since she was my first pet :)
Christy says
PAINT MY PET! I would get a portrait of my wolf-dog Buddy. He was a really cool dog to have, & recently passed away, so it would be a perfect memorial of him. I remember when he was about a year old, we went on a camping trip with him and while hiking, somehow he hurt his paw. We stopped to look at it, but nothing seemed wrong with it, so we told him he was fine. Apparently that was all he needed, and off he ran – without the limp or anything. Just like a kid!

My parrot Crumbly. Birds bond to one or two people and he is super bonded to me. I can lay on the couch with him on my chest and he will “preen” me. He’ll take a curl and run his beek down it, get another section and run his beek down it. He thinks he is giving me a bird bath. Too sweet.

PAINT MY PET! I have a black and tan Pomeranian that was a puppy mill mom from Kentucky. She arrived losing big clumps of hair and every time I’d pull them out there’d be flea debris with them. They had just spayed her and pulled 10 teeth. Now, a year later she is so beautiful. She should be a cover dog for Acana brand food because she is thriving on a good grain-free diet now. She is always smiling–kind of like a dolphin :)

I would love a picture of my Lab mix, Mason, who has passes away but whose memories always bring a smile to my face. She loved chewing gum and would steal a piece every chance she got. If I could have only taught her how to blow a bubble! LOL
Lauren Hayden says
PAINT MY PET! I would either have my husband’s German Shepherd, Chance, painted, or my parents’ Dachshund, Libby, painted. Such a hard decision!

Indy-Jones Crowder is overflowing with personality. He does many cute and outrageous things. But my favorite cute thing he does every night is fall asleep cuddling my husband, and when I wake up he is cuddling me. Without fail. It’s adorbs.

PAINT MY PET! I have a cat and a dog that I love dearly. My cat (Sushi) sleeps curled up with his head on my shoulder every night. My dog (Mojo) is a pomeranian and makes the BEST faces – you can always tell what he’s thinking. I’d have a hard time picking just one of them for a portrait, so I’d probably just ask my husband or flip a coin :)

PAINT MY PET!!
We have a mutt named Shorty who we believed was a jack russell/basset hound/beagle mix for six years until we had his DNA tested (yes, we are those people!) and found out that he is a boxer/cocker spaniel mix. Talk about an identity crisis! He loves to crawl all the way under the sheets at night to sleep and will stay there even when gasping for air and panting until the sheets get wet – yes, disgusting and the reason why he can no longer sleep with us! We would love a little Shorty portrait to hang in our new home!!
Kara says
Paint My Pet! I would have my dachshund painted, he was my baby for 16 years and I miss him daily.
Erin Kloosterman says
PAINT MY PET! My family is obsessed with our Jack Russel, Sookie. She is a rescue from a shelter, and we have treated her like a queen since we got her seven years ago. I’ve made my brother a silhouette of her beautiful face, but that was black and white. One of these cool colored one would be extra special!

PAINT MY PET! Our dog Misha is a total character – he came to us a shy rescue dog from the country who was afraid of every little thing, and in the year we’ve had him he’s morphed into a goofy fluffball who can’t understand why the cats/random people on the street don’t fall all over themselves trying to be his friend. We can’t imagine life without him, and we’d love to have him painted!
Cara says

Hannah W says
Paint my pet! We just adopted our dog (this week!) so we’re still figuring out all big and small things there is to love about her. We couldn’t be happier to have in join our new baby family and how better to celebrate than with a portrait! Adorable.

Paint my pet!!! We have an 11 year old pug..Buddy!! Just the cutest! He would be a GREAT model. The kids are in college so no more “1st day of school photos”…is this what people do when the kids are gone, hang paintings of the dog? Guilty!!!! :)
Heather / It's So Suburban says
Paint my pet! Cash, my dog. Please, he is suicidal. He’s tried everything – eating lots of Berber carpet, chocolate candy, getting bit in the face by a poisonous snake. We need to immortalize him before it’s too late.

PAINT MY PET! Oh it would have to be my little chocolate cocker spaniel Cocoa. She is so adorable and now that is getting colder she really likes to snuggle a lot. I think she has the cutest expressions in her face at times.
Justine says
PAINT MY PET! I’d have my cat Little Bastard (lil B for short) painted. As his name suggests he’s quite the fiesty little kittie, but by having his adorable face on the wall I will cement my future as a crazy cat lady. A future I might add, that I’m excited to embrace!

PAINT MY PET!
I would have by pug painted. She is 8.5 years old and she comes up with new quirks all of the time. Her most recent one is when she is laying in the floor and you walk up to her she flops on her side an grunts until you rub her belly!
Theresa says
PAINT MY PET! I’d love to have all painted but my heart has always been totally sold to Odi. He’s no longer alive but lived a really amazing 17 years and survived one death himself. He despised everyone but his mother (me) and is the most loyal dog I’ve ever seen (and I meet new ones daily).
