And the lucky random pet parent who’s about to get a cheery pet portrait is… Kirstin (who’s excited to get a portrait of Lola, her “adorable Boston Terrier/English Bulldog mix”). Congrats Kirstin AND Lola! UPDATE: Kirstin sent us a photo of Lola. Isn’t she a heartbreaker?
Somebody turned six last week around here. And his name rhymes with Schmurger (video evidence to come on Young House Life – we just have to upload it). PAINT MY PET! My sweet pup Stella would be so lovely captured in a portrait. She’s a really cute shar pei, yellow lab mix with the cutest pink nose you’ve ever seen!
Sarah says
PAINT MY PET! I would like my sister’s dog Wes to be painted because he is the love of her life, just an adorable guy, and she could use something nice in her life right now.

Paint my pet! Our yellow lab Sally who was my husband’s before we got married. She is an old lady now, 14 to be exact, but such a wonderful part of our family and is an especially good big sister to our two year old. I’ve been wanting to have a painting of her done. This would be wonderful!

PAINT MY PET! I’d have our Chow Chow, Coco, painted. We adopted him from a shelter about seven years ago (I can’t believe it’s been that long!). He was given up by his owner who was apparently alcoholic and kept accidentally leaving the gate of the yard open so that Coco would get out, be picked up by animal control, rinse, repeat. Eventually the guy just said he couldn’t deal anymore so Coco went off to live at the shelter. We were actually looking to adopt something small (like a Chihuahua!) but when we met Coco we melted into pathetic puddles of adoration and gave in to the urge to take him home :) He is about 13 years old (we don’t know for sure exactly, but the vet is fairly sure that’s in the ballpark, which is old for a Chow!) and he is a weird little dog. He’s more catlike than doglike, and has never exhibited the stereotypical Chow aggressiveness. Ever. The first time we took him to his new vet, she initially wanted to muzzle him during his examination but we assured her that he REALLY was gentle and we were right, no muzzle needed! She still talks about how he’s the only Chow she’s ever met who doesn’t mind at all being groped and prodded during his exam and the groomer we have taken him to for years also raves about him being a total gentle soul :)
When we brought our newborn daughter home three years ago we weren’t sure how he would react to her, and we were nervous about our precious new cargo, but it turned out that he really just completely ignored her to a comical degree. I mean seriously, COMPLETELY ignored her. She did the same for the most part, which was also funny since we know most kids are intrigued/amused by dogs and other pets, right? That lasted right up until she turned three earlier this year. Now he is her best friend (she will tell you that herself) and she spends her time at home covering him up with a blanket when he’s sleeping, and reading him books. Whereas he used to get up and amble away when she would come over, now he sits there patiently while she has super long conversations with him, and I’m so touched by what a sweet, low key relationship they have to each other.
It kind of breaks our hearts, to be honest, because his health has been flagging for the past year (nothing serious at all, but very definite signs of old age – he’s nearly completely blind due to cataracts, has very stiff hips, a bit lethargic, and he can’t hear much anymore, but he’s happy and not in pain) and we haven’t the first clue what we will tell the kidlet if/when Coco’s time with us comes to an end. I’m obsessively snapping candid shots of them together recently, so that she has photographic memories of him (if not real ones) and I think a painted portrait that we could hang in our daughter’s room would be the bee’s knees.
Sorry for the long post, I couldn’t really find a way to shorten the story of our two little loves :)

Paint my pet! Or I guess I should say paint my SIL’s pet. :) I am not a pet person at all, but I would LOVE to have my SIL’s scottish terrier painted for her!

Paint my pet!
I will probably get our boxer right now painted, her name is Collins, and she is a quirky little thing! When we leave the door to the guest room and our bedroom open, she will go upstairs and run circles from one bed through the hallway and up onto our bed…sounds like a train is in our ceiling! LOVE HER!
Anna says
Paint my pet! We have a lab mix that LOVES to swim and play fetch!
Christy Grap says
PAINT MY PET! I would love to have a picture of my Ruby. She is the only surving baby from her mama–who was tragically hit by a car. Ruby, right before her 1st birthday, was climbing a fence to escape a neighbors dog and lost a hind leg. She is now 8 and gets around great. She is a very special kitty-baby.

PAINT MY PET! I’d love a portrait of my kitty Flavor Flav!

paint my pet! I have an awesome beagle mix that we adopted from a shelter and named Snoop Dogg. He’s not really into awesome 90’s rap or Dr. Dre, but he does like to let out some long (and loud) beagle howls whenever I sing to him :)

PAINT MY PET!!!
Our wheaton terrier, Baxter, 100% has to be immortalized on canvas! Not only is he the cutest pup in the whole world, he’s also an expert at shredding any sort of paper :)

Beth says
PAINT MY PET! I would love my adopted dog Couver (Vancouver) to be painted in the position she is so frequently in – sleeping peacefully dreaming of chasing RABBITS.
Ashley H says
PAINT MY PET! My dog Toby is hilarious and does not know he is a dog (hates walks, hates going outside, would like to just sit on the airconditioning vent all day). He is such a good sport though, every month he poses for a picture with our daughter in her rocking chair so that we can see how much she is growing.
Karen says
PAINT MY PET!!
Why, because Oscar makes me smile!

PAINT MY PET! I’d have my pup, Roscoe painted. He’s quite a vocal little guy, always talking to me in his weird doggy language… I just haven’t quite figured out what he’s saying!

Paint my pet! I would have my cat Olivia painted. She passed away about a year and a half ago and would be 22 yrs. old today if she were still with us. We were so lucky to have her for such a long time.

PAINT MY PET!
I’d get a painting of my horse, Jill. She was the horse I learned to ride on and was the most mellow horse in the world. I had to have to her put down earlier this year due to tumors, but she lived to the very ripe old age of 31 and was well loved.
Stephanie says
PAINT MY PET!!! I’d have my German shorthaired pointer Remmy painted. She has so much energy and loves life!!!

Buddy the black lab rescue. He’s my personal bodyguard if anyone comes too close to me which is great cause we live alone, but could potentially be a liability….
Jenn says
PAINT MY PET! We have a HUGE German shepherd puppy named Jake.
Rebecca in WA says
PAINT MY PET! I’d get my German Shepherd, Victor, painted – he was such a beautiful boy. Victor would howl and bark whenever we said the name of an administrator at the school my husband and I were attending, since he, too, disapproved of the man. Very smart dog.
Valerie says
PAINT MY PET! We have a ridiculously adorable shih-tzu/maltese named Ziggy who is so spoiled and definitely needs his own portrait!
Kristen says
Paint my pet! Our first “baby” Roscoe, a terrier mix who thinks he is completely human (including down to biting his toenails/fingernails on a daily basis).
Michelle says
PAINT MY PET! I’d have you paint my dog, Booth. Like his namesake, Seely Booth from Bones, he’s a great protector- you should hear him when someone rings the doorbell!
Kristen says
PAINT MY PET!
My German Shepherd mix, Greta, quite literally thinks she’s a person. She does something every day that makes us laugh, and we just love her to pieces.
Amanda says
PAINT MY PET! Our little lady June is a rescue pup and she thanks us for giving her a good home everyday by being the best girl in the world. Lots of love, snuggles, and kisses coupled with long walks with a wagging tail along the way. We weren’t planning on getting a dog but she came into our life and gives us endless joy!
April says
PAINT MY PET! We call our dog Rocky a soft-seeking-missile. Seriously, if you leave anything soft laying around (a blanket, pillow, dirty clothes, a sock, other unmentionables) he will make it his new little home.
Sarah says
PAINT MY PET!
My cat Jolene– she’s named after the Dolly Parton song and she is our red-headed home wrecker
Nicole A. says
Paint my pet!
My 2 kitties Ty and Slim!
Elizabeth says
Paint my pet! Lincoln is our new German Shepherd pup, who most recently learned how to open the kitchen cabinets. One five pound bag of flour later, those cabinets have child (and dog) proof locks on them. How we managed to NOT get a picture of that fiasco is beyond me!!! It looked straight outta Scarface.
Lindsey says
Paint My Pet!
I have 3 pets: 2 cats and a 7 month old golden retriever. Ideally I’d like a painting that makes them all look like they are sitting nicely together. Because that never happens in real life. My house is a circus.
suzanne says
PAINT MY PET – I’d have my little Velcro dog Tater painted, she never leaves my side…
Lara says
Paint my pet! I’d have my dog, Dwight, painted. The little guy was hit by a car a few years ago, so he is our three-legged wonder. But you would never know he is three-legged at first glance. He is so energetic and can out run lots of bigger (four-legged) dogs.
Katy B. says
PAINT MY PET! Our puppy Snarf is a Pembroke Welsch Corgi and lives up to his quirky name. He’s a sweet cuddler, but also full of energy, grunts like a guinea pig and is very particular about getting to bed on time. I would love winning a painting of him!
Katie says
PAINT MY PET!
I’d love a painting of my schnoodle, Aleister! Everything he does is simultaneously cute and hilarious.
Chelsie says
PAINT MY PET!!! Oliver is the best puppers ever! He’s actually my best friends’ dog, but he is amazing at cuddling and he is incredibly handsome too! Love that little guy!!!
Ann says
Paint my Pet! I’d have my dog Gunner painted. Because he is pretty much the best dog ever.
Jen McCrady says
PAINT MY PET! Since my dog Scout has repeatedly gone down on the proverbial totem pole at our house (getting 2 cats AND a baby within 2 years), I think he deserves a little love! He’s so great with our 1-year-old baby girl, and I think a photo of him would be perfect in our house!
Autumn Anthony says
PAINT MY PET!
I would have our dog Gary painted. Not only is our best friend, but he takes the place of children in our life!
kristy says
Paint My Pet!! I would love our adorable terrier/irish wolfhound mix painted. His name is Kobe and my husband got him on a random trip to the grocery store and there was a box of puppies being given away.
That was 9 years ago, and he has been the sweetest, most adorable pup ever!
Katie @ Lovebird Productions says
PAINT MY PET! Jane dog is our only child (fur and human). She is spoiled and one-of-a-kind. She huffs at us when we scold her and smiles when we praise her. She is a treat :)
