Fab Freebie: Portrait Of A Fido

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

And the lucky random pet parent who’s about to get a cheery pet portrait is… Kirstin (who’s excited to get a portrait of Lola, her “adorable Boston Terrier/English Bulldog mix”). Congrats Kirstin AND Lola! UPDATE: Kirstin sent us a photo of Lola. Isn’t she a heartbreaker?

Lesli Devito Giveaway Winner Lola

Somebody turned six last week around here. And his name rhymes with Schmurger (video evidence to come on Young House Life – we just have to upload it). Anyway, in honor of that exciting canine milestone, we’re hosting an exciting canine giveaway, courtesy of our good friend (and fellow Virginian) Lesli Devito. She’s got an incredible knack for turning a photo of your pet into a brightly colored, cheerful piece of artwork that’ll wake up any wall. So start digging out that perfect snapshot of your pup (or kitty or whatever else) and hunting for the perfect spot for that 20 x 20″ custom painting that just may be coming your way!

Lesli Devito Paintings Giveaway

  • PRIZE: A custom pet painting from Leslie Devito Paintings up to 20″ x 20″ in size (a $500 value)
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PAINT MY PET!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … what pet you’d want painted. And while you’re at it, what’s one thing that makes your pet especially lovable, weird, loyal, or just generally fun to have around?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, October 3rd at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States & Canada
  • DISCOUNT: 15% off any order when you mention YHL with your order (through October 15th)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Lesli Devito.

PAINT MY PET! I have a 14-year-old west highland white terrier, Brewster, who is the love of my life :) We call him “king Brewster”, because he thinks he run’s the place… always trying to “protect” us from lightening and fireworks :)

    ¡Paint my pet por favor!
Frankie, the Shiba Inu, is my right hand gal in most of my DIY home projects and even when I’m away she’s busy with her own::
    http://just-judi.tumblr.com/post/27550899611/bad-doggie
so I’d like her to be just as represented in our tiny studio apartment (less so in poop bags).

PAINT MY PET!! I’d have our dog AKA child painted. When we first rescued him, he was a terror! He ate my Mac, blinds, furniture, you name it! Now that he is older, I don’t know what we would do without him. All of that trouble was worth it. He’s family!

    PAINT MY PET!

I love my dogs Salvador Doggie (Pug) and Rhiannon Mac (Wire Fox Terrier). Since Sal is older, I would pick him for my free portrait if I should be so lucky to win. Regardless if I win this contest or not, I am a winner for bringing home Sal almost 14 years ago. He has been a constant source of joy and laughter although he is a pretty stubborn character too. I love him more than I publicly care to admit, but he is truly something special. One of the sweetest dogs I know, unless given a bully stick (dried animal tendon–yuck) and then he loses his mind and becomes a possessive demon. So, barring any dried tendons around, he truly is a saint who would look salvadorable in paint! Thank you.

PAINT MY PET! I would want a painting of my beloved horse Legend, who was my best friend, my pet, my first horse, and helped earn money for me in college. He was so loving and affectionate and I miss him every day, even though he died over 6 years ago.

    PAINT MY PET!! (lol)

My cat RILEY, she was the runt of the litter when I saved her from being picked on — I’d never had a cat before so I wasn’t sure what to do with her. I ended up teaching her to fetch toy mice. Now she ‘hunts’ them on her own.. sets them up around the corner, backs away and then pounces on her prey! It’s fun to watch :)

PAINT MY PET! We would love to have our Lady painted. She is a mutt from the shelter and the best dog. She had puppies who were about 6 weeks old when we got her. She had the hugest nipples that almost hit the ground. As soon as we brought her home my neighbor pointed out (while laughing), that “YOU, the lactation consultant, of course would get the breastfeeding dog!” lol. I guess I can not stay away from helping new mommies, whether they are people or animals!!

Our family dog, Justus, is the most loveable and fun lab/rodesian mix. As he was my husband’s wedding present, he represents the two of us together, but not only that, he is the sweet protector of our new baby girl. What a representation of our family, that precious pup!
