And the lucky random pet parent who’s about to get a cheery pet portrait is… Kirstin (who’s excited to get a portrait of Lola, her “adorable Boston Terrier/English Bulldog mix”). Congrats Kirstin AND Lola! UPDATE: Kirstin sent us a photo of Lola. Isn’t she a heartbreaker?
Somebody turned six last week around here. And his name rhymes with Schmurger (video evidence to come on Young House Life – we just have to upload it). Anyway, in honor of that exciting canine milestone, we’re hosting an exciting canine giveaway, courtesy of our good friend (and fellow Virginian) Lesli Devito. She’s got an incredible knack for turning a photo of your pet into a brightly colored, cheerful piece of artwork that’ll wake up any wall. So start digging out that perfect snapshot of your pup (or kitty or whatever else) and hunting for the perfect spot for that 20 x 20″ custom painting that just may be coming your way!

- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, October 3rd at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The United States & Canada

Paint my Pet! I have a golden retriever that loves to sleep in the bed like a person–head on pillow and under a blanket. :)
Brit says
PAINT MY PET! I would have my pet hedgehog Schrodinger painted. He’s a ball of spikes and we just love him to bits. He’s a quirky, ill-tempered 2-year-old. What’s not to love?
Beth says
Paint my pet! I’d get my cat, Jack, painted because he was so gracious to pick our Baltimore city back porch and let us adopt him into the lazy life he currently leads!
Meaghan T says
PAINT MY PET!
Our adoptive mutt, Sadie, is part fox, chow, corgie, hound and cat. No seriously she is that diverse. Our favorite quirks: if you say “don’t talk back” she does, total diva, beyond loyal and cuddly :)
Jenna says
PAINT MY PET!
I would love a painting of my kitty, Apple. She’s a pretty terrible cat in that all she does is sulk and run away from humans. That being said, we love her dearly :)
Amanda S. says
PAINT MY PET! I would love to have my Old English Sheep Dog, Swoosie, painted. Although she is now passed away, she was the most loveable and quite possibly the dumbest dog you have ever met. Sheep Dog’s are BIG dogs, but Swoosie always thought she was a tiny lap dog! Whenever I would sit cross-legged on the ground, she would “back it up” and sit on my lap :)

Paint my pet!
We have three cats, one a stray kitten we just added: Tinkerbell, Giovanni and S’mores. I would love a picture of all three together. :)
Kayla says
PAINT MY PET! I’d love to have Leslie paint a picture of our border collie mix, Butler “Buddy”–named because of his Rhett Butler-esque mustache. He loves to herd our furniture (and our cat), and he jumps so high when he sees you that his nose touches yours. (We’ve alarmed quite a few friendly passersby on our walks with that trick–much to my chagrin!)
Kelly B. says
PAINT MY PET!! I have an extra large English Bulldog who is just the cutest!! He is an 87 lb lap dog that snorts and slobbers with the best of them!! Just love him!!

PAINT MY PET!
I would LOVE a portrait of my dog Jack. He is 13 now and we’ve been together since he was a puppy. He is the smartest, most loyal, loveable dog i’ve ever known.
Jenb says
PAINT MY PET! I would like my dog Valentine to be painted. The best thing about her is how excited she gets every time I walk in the door. There is nothing like an excited greeting.
Sarah says
Paint my pet! I would have my 3-year-old pug, Sadie, painted. She’s a real joy in my life, from the way she jumps at the door when I say “walk,” to the way she likes to be on my lap while I’m trying to work on my laptop.
Sarah says
Paint my Pet! Mo our Black lab. he’s an 80 pound lap dog. His idea of fun is if my husband is sitting on a particular side of the couch, the dog starts at one end of the hall way, then runs and leaps onto my husband. He usually starts slow so by the time my husband realizes what’s happening, it’s already to late to protect his body from the 80 pound bullet. :D

PAINT ME PET!
As worthy of canvas I think our fur babies are, I’d probably have a portrait done of my brother’s and his fiancé’s dog. They love him so much he’s even going to be the ring be at their wedding next summer-come to think of it, it would make a perfect wedding present for them.
Katie says
PAINT MY PET!
I’d love to get a picture of our handsome Gus, who is a deaf, blue-eyed white boxer. He’s as sweet as they come, and doesn’t have a clue he’s any different than the rest of our “pack”! He’s learned hand signals and keeps an eye on the other dogs for cues as to what’s going on around him. He’s super smart!
Emily says
PAINT MY PET! I would love to have my boxer, Oakley, and my mutt, Willow, painted. They think they are people and lay on the couch, bed, you name it! They even use pillows!
Maija says
Paint my Pet! Rhea is my 5 yr old German Shepherd. She is crazy smart and keeps us both on our toes, can open doors, unlock things and even opens the baby gate that adult guests can’t figure out! But I don’t know what I would do without her.

PAINT MY PET!
Our little girl, Talley, slipped a disc and was paralyzed this past May, shortly after her sixth birthday. Miracle of miracles (seriously only a 2% chance), she started walking again 3 weeks later. It’s been a real test of love and loyalty and not been easy, but we love her and glad we had faith and patience to see what happened. I would get a painting of her (and probably one of her brother too!)
Anne says
PAINT MY PET! I’d get my childhood dog, Claire, painted for my mom. She died earlier this year, but was the best and most loyal companion.
Stacey says
Paint MY Pet! I would love a painting our dog, Lola. She is the sweetest.
keri says
PAINT MY PET! I would have her paint my pup, Katie. Even if I don’t win, I think I will still have her paint my pup for me….:)

PAINT MY PET!
Oh, I’m so excited about this giveaway!! I love Leslie’s work!! I think if I were the lucky winner, I’d have her paint my two dogs, Annie and Goldie (can they be painted in one painting?) The weirdness of my dogs goes on and on, so it’s hard to pick just one. But I’d say Annie is the quirkiest of the two, she’s afraid of the wind but gets excited when she hears a large scary saw or any other type of loud sharp tool start up.
Sarah says
PAINT MY PET! I’d have our dog, Moose, painted! It is his 7th birthday in two days and I’m sure he’d love a painting of himself. :)
Stevara says
PAINT MY PET !!
I’d want my Morkie Yoshi to be painted because he is the most awesome dog. He loves to cuddle, watch movies and do arts and crafts with me.
Meg Brown says
Paint my pet! Bailey, my family’s Bichon Frise who passed last year. He was a special guy who wore a “speedo” for the last 6 years of his life to help combat his neurotic ways of peeing on the fridge whenever the phone rang.
Jami says
paint my pet!
I’d love a painting of Wally, my sweet, adorable, of a rescue pup. He’s a goofy snugglebug, but his most noticeable thing about him before you see his silly personality is his awesome black eyepatch.
Elizabeth B. says
PAINT MY PET! Because I can’t walk 6in without him right…behind…me. Velcro dog!
ps: he’s a dane, so it’s even more amusing to walk into a small closet or pantry and have him follow…then get us both stuck inside.
Amy L says
PAINT MY PET!!!!!!!!!
I would have a portrait of my sweet Rae painted. She has such a friendly, loveable face! She’s a huge, fluffy Rescue Mutt, but don’t tell her. Despite her size, she thinks she’s dainty!
Lena says
Paint my pet! My puggle Bourbon would look so cute up on our wall.
Melissa says
PAINT MY PET
My dog Bailey is a 1 year old chocolate lab. She is so rambunctious and is always getting into things, but is just so sweet the rest of the time you can’t help but love her.
Nickie says
Paint my pet! I’d like to have my dogs Gary and Walker painted. Gary is a 3 year old Morkie, who is very wise and he runs the house. Walker is a 3 year old rescue dog who is combination of about 5 dogs….he looks sort of like a black lab. Gary has inspired me to start selling home-made dog treats because he is always following me in the kitchen. I started playing around with fun dog desserts and now I have my own business!
Lauren Rushing says
PAINT MY PET! I would love a painting of my dog, Karl:) I love him because he is soooo sweet with my one year old son!
Erika says
PAINT MY PET! Well actually, my mom’s dog Whisky. He’s a shih-tzu. My dad got her the dog when her dad passed away to cheer her up. Funny thing is, he’s just like Papa. He’s a calm and quiet little guy with a big personality.
Crimson says
I would love to have this painting to remember my sweet fur baby by. Thanks.
Laura N says
Paint my pet!
My cat, Dinah, gives the best cat hugs at the end of the day. There’s something about the feeling of having a purring cat on your chest with their little paws on both your shoulders…it melts all the stress of the day away.

Paint my pet!
My lab, Zoe, who passed away a year ago. She ate socks and tights and was generally crazy, but I loved her to death!
Dena says
PAINT MY PET!
I would have my toy poodle, Bubba, painted. My charming little prince was a gift for my 15th birthday, and now he will be turning 15 in just a few short months!
Kelly says
Paint My Pet! I’d actually have my brother and sister in law’s dog painted. The got her recently and this would make a great gift!
Jen says
PAINT MY PET!! I have a cat named Zoey who rides around on my husband’s shoulder like a parrot. Clearly, we need a portrait of her!
Farrell says
PAINT MY PET! If I have to pick just one it would be Coby, our 5 year old black lab mix. (Would love to squeeze his little sis in the pic too, she’s 5 months). I think what we adore about Coby the most is that he smiles when he gets excited. It looks like a snarl to newcomers but there is just a lot of love behind that grill!
Audrea says
PAINT MY PAINT!!!!
Brandi W. says
PAINT MY PET! I would have my elderly beagle, Noah, painted. He is such a goofy, happy boy! He is half the size of our basset mix, Moe, but Noah still enjoys bossing Moe around. He will chase him around the house and howl at him. He definitely keeps us laughing!
Stephanie says
PAINT MY PET! Our sweet Millie dog was our first kid and she’s turning 12 in three weeks – she’s an awesome dog who’s traveled the world with us. Her special skill? Getting herself comfortably wrapped up in her blanket for bed.
Sarah Collins says
PAINT MY PET(s)!
We have two rescue mutts, who we treat like humans. Levi is a 3 year old lab/australian shepard mix, and Sadie is a 5 year old lab/boxer/pit mix. They are both sweethearts and love each other and us unconditionally, but they are night and day in other aspects of their perdonalities.
Levi is neurotic and is easily stressed by fast movement or shadows/lights on the walls. While Sadie is super laid back and puts herself to bed by 8:30 every night.
We love them and would love a portrait of them together.
Krysta Houseknecht says
PAINT MY PET! My red bone coon hound, Lexi, would look gorgeous as a 20×20. Haha she knows her best angles and how to work a camera.
Samantha Simmons says
PAINT MY PET!
My cat Bijoux is the cutest black and white cat. I adopted her from a shelter when she was just a baby and as a photographer I have a lot of photos of her. I do not have a painting though! It would be a great way to decorate the house without seeming like the crazy cat lady.
Jennifer says
Paint my pet!! I seriously have the most handsome hound dog the world has ever known. He truly deserves his to have painting done of him. Besides being handsome, Boudreaux is the sweetest guy around and loves everyone he meets. He especially loves our 20 month old who affectionately refers to him as Bubba. My heart swells when she says his name!
Tabitha says
PAINT MY PET! Molly, the chihuahua-mutt-who-knows-rescue-pooch, should be immortalized! She loves to ride shotgun with the windows rolled down…
Kate says
PAINT MY PET!
I would love to have a portrait of our beloved family dog painted for my parents. Our little westie was adored by our family of non-animal people. My sister lobbied hard for a dog and eventually got her way, and the little guy was soon known as my parents’ son, our brother, even Grandma’s granddog. It was like his little personality was just tailor made for our family. He lived to the ripe old age of 16, and we all miss him still.
Rosalind R. says
PAINT MY PET!!! I would want my dog, Scooter, to be painted. He is a Morkie, but if you were blind, you might think he was a little pig. He roots, snorts, and rolls around just like a baby pig would. It is truly the cutest thing!
