And the lucky random pet parent who’s about to get a cheery pet portrait is… Kirstin (who’s excited to get a portrait of Lola, her “adorable Boston Terrier/English Bulldog mix”). Congrats Kirstin AND Lola! UPDATE: Kirstin sent us a photo of Lola. Isn’t she a heartbreaker?
Somebody turned six last week around here. And his name rhymes with Schmurger (video evidence to come on Young House Life – we just have to upload it). Anyway, in honor of that exciting canine milestone, we’re hosting an exciting canine giveaway, courtesy of our good friend (and fellow Virginian) Lesli Devito. She’s got an incredible knack for turning a photo of your pet into a brightly colored, cheerful piece of artwork that’ll wake up any wall. So start digging out that perfect snapshot of your pup (or kitty or whatever else) and hunting for the perfect spot for that 20 x 20″ custom painting that just may be coming your way!

- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PAINT MY PET!” and tell us…

- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, October 3rd at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The United States & Canada
- DISCOUNT: 15% off any order when you mention YHL with your order (through October 15th)

Paint my pet! We have three kitties, Fluffy, Jinx and Echo, so I’m sure one of them would love a portrait!
Brenda says
PAINT MY PET!
You wouldn’t believe it by seeing how he is with my daughter….he is actually a cuddle monster. Unless it involves a three year old, then the grouchy old (he’s 11!) man comes out.
Clara says
Paint my pet! My kitty Oscar is a lively loving lapcat.
Carly T says
Paint my pet! My bulldog is an adorable snoring machine. I’d probably have to have him painted in his natural state: asleep with his tongue sticking out.
Sara says
PAINT MY PET! I have 2 dogs so I wonder if she would paint 2 in one picture? They are both photo-worthy :)
Megan says
PAINT MY PET! This could be really fun and quirky. My daughter LOVES our kitty and being that she’s our only pet, I think that we’ll choose her. Lucky her!
Daniel says
Paint my pet!
A painting of our little weenie dogs would be the BEST surprise for my wife! She (and I) loves our dogs so much she would probably cry if she had something as awesome as this to hang on the wall. We don’t have human kids, but we always say we do have dog “kids”.
nina murnighan says
Paint My Pet! I would get my dog Daphney painted as a gift for her Daddy.
Holly g says
Paint my pet Dublin and Leia! My dogs would be great subjects! Not only are they cute but they are quirky. Leia is a shih tzu pug mix and Dublin is a Boston terrier schnauzer poodle mix! Talk about weird dogs.
Tina says
PAINT MY PET!
I would get a painting of my German Shepherd. We have a new baby that he loves to smell…and is often the first to know when she has a poopy diaper that needs to be changed!
AndreaB says
Paint My Pet! My chihuahua Andy turned 12 this September. He stands like a prairie dog while he begs, but won’t do it on command.
Michelle says
Paint My Pet! My wonderful cat Salvador, who I lost last year… He was my pal for 13 wonderful years and he was such a pretty kitty.
Alex says
PAINT MY PET-My dog Henry. He is the sweetest little pup with the bigges personality!
Abby says
PAINT MY PET…I’d have Lucy, my adorable Shih Tzu painted. I’m a single gal so she’s my baby. She keeps me company and reminds me I’m not quite ready for kids of the human kind yet ;)
Laurie says
PAINT MY PET! Sophie is our dachshund we recently found on the side of the road. The vet said she had lived in the woods for about a week, was still healthy, but full of stickers. No one claimed her. We love her and she loves us!
Kelly says
Paint my Pet! Would love to have our two goldendoodles painted.
kari says
Paint my pet! I’d have you paint a lab..not sure which one..my mom’s beloved chocolate that died last year, or her new choco puppy or one of my yellow or black labs…all so sweet and such lovable members of our family!
Denise says
Paint MY pet! My Mom has a little dog named Max she got from the pound. He races to the door whenever he hears her car pull up in the driveway, or when we tell him “Mom’s home!”
Lauren says
PAINT MY PET!
I’d actually like to win this so I could give the painting to a friend. One of her dogs recently ran away from the pet sitter while she was on vacation and unfortunately, the story doesn’t have a happy ending… so I’d like to get my friend something to remember her beloved pet.
Paola says
Paint my pet! I have 2 pets and the make my days!!
Ashley says
PAINT MY PET! I’d have our miniature pinscher, Martini, painted! I just love his little personality, he’s such a little ham. If you say “want to have a slap fight” he’ll stand up on his hind legs and swat at your hands really fast!
Jessika says
PAINT MY PET! I’d probably paint our one-floppy-one-perky-eared corgi, Maddie. She has the best expressions– no need for this dog to speak; I can usually tell what she’s thinking. Love her to pieces! I think her flopped on the ground with all her legs going every direction with an exasperated “oh humans!” look on her face would sum up this pooch pretty precisely. :)
Chelsea says
Paint my pet!!!
My miniature dachshund, Warren, is the funniest little dog. He has such a distinct personality and makes us laugh every day. I would probably hang it in my office (I’m a Physician Assistant) and I’m sure that all of my patients would LOVE looking at it as much as I would!
Kristen L says
Paint my pet!
I’d love to have my two goldens painted and if it can be only one they’ll never know the difference anyway :)
Cecily B says
PAINT MY PET! I’d have a hard time choosing, since I have 2 miniature Dachshunds and 6 chickens. Dog would be the obvious choice, so I’m going to go with chicken. Probably one of my Speckled Sussex. Emmadine is currently moulting (losing her feathers) so probably not a good choice. Stella is a new momma chicken to three surrogate chicks. She did an awesome job raising 3 babies that weren’t her own(from birth). She taught them how to be chickens; peck and scratch for bugs, etc. That’s about all chickens do. Oh, and make my breakfast!
Holly B. says
PAINT MY PET! Our dog looks a lot like Scooby Doo and is hilarious. We love everything about him, but our favorite is probably how cuddly he is. We just got back from a trip (he stayed with a frient), and we love how excited he gets to see us!
Melissa R. says
PAINT MY PET!
My dog Otis would be my choice. He’s ornery and pudgier than a boxer ought to be, but he’s my faithful buddy and protector.
meghan says
PAINT MY PET! I’d have my parents dog, Maggie, painted. They are both retired and I have left the nest, so Mag is just their spoiled little child. They love her so much (more than me!), that it would be awesome to be able to give this to them.
Kristen says
PAINT MY PET! I would love to have my lovable, playful, and mischievous Millie painted. She’s a black lab/shepherd mix and goes from being crazy energetic to a calm cuddler. Her two favorite things are people and dirt:)
b*schus says
Paint my pet! It is a toss-up between my Welshie Otto, or my mother-in-law’s Airedale. They are both beloved in our family!
Gabi Barrick says
Paint my pet!
I’d get a painting of our sweet pup, Army, who passed away this past spring. I’d give it to my 6 year old, Ben, who has been missing him. :(
jenni says
PAINT MY PET! I would have my Brittany spaniel Murphy painted. He is the most sensitive puppy. He knows when we’re sad, and will not leave my side, until he knows I feel better…I’m not sure how he knows, but he totally does.
Patty Gil-Diaz says
PAINT MY PET (DOG)!!!!!!
I would like to have my pup Sula (pitbull mix) to be painted. She is the sweetest most loving dog and I found her at 5 months of age roaming the street!

Amanda says
Paint my Pet! I would my nosy, stubborn but impossibly cute Westie Hugo painted.
Cheri Moser says
PAINT MY PET!!
I would request a painting of my brother-in-law’s little dog, Macy. She is like a daughter to him and his wife and she’s currently quite sick. On a happier note, she’s lived a great life and is a very happy pup.
Kate says
Paint my cat, Lola! As a single lady, it’s nice to have someone to come home. Even if she’s always whining for more tuna~
Julie says
PAINT MY PET…our cat Logan who we recently adopted and already runs the place!
Tabitha Rodrigue says
PAINT MY PET CASH! He’s the most loyal, cuddly, sweet dog that we rescued 3 years ago from the Humane Society. He’s our best buddy!
Catherine says
PAINT MY PET!!!
Oh goodness this is so neat! I am actually trying to get a little portrait of my sister’s dog, Jack, for her for Christmas! Such cute portraits so this is good to know! He is the cutest little baby. He is 6 just like Burger! He has been the best dog for my sister’s family! They welcomed my niece, Mia, into the family 19 months ago and you would think she belonged to Jack. :) They have such a special relationship! I think it is great Clara and Burger seem to have a special relationship too! I adore yalls blog. I read it daily and think yall are just about the cutest little family! Thanks for sharing so much!
Take care,
Catherine
Rachel Rosbrook says
Yay! PAINT MY PET! I would love a colourful piece of artwork of our Boston bulldog Caesar. He’s a crazy nut ball that we just love to bits! We take him everywhere, even to the barn where he insists on running directly beside our horse Okie when we go out on trails. Instead of almost passing out from exhaustion by trying to keep up, he could very easily just watch and wait for me. But I should know better because staying out of the action is definitely not “Dr. Sneeze’s” style.
LauraCinIndy says
Paint my pet!! We have two adorable dogs who make me happy notated how bad the day.
Mark says
Paint my pet! I have a very loving and affectionate German-Wiener-Lab. She’s great with our daughter and it would be amazing to immortalize her with a one of a kind work of art.

PAINT MY PET!
My girl is closing in on 12, and we are both having to come to terms with her body slowing down on her. I would love to capture her in her prime – these years of experience have really been the best of my life.
Deb Praus says
“PAINT MY PET!” We rescued our Lucy from a mill, she was 5 at the time and had outlived her usefulness to the mill. She is a Cairn Terrier(think Toto, who was a female btw) only blonde! She is now living the life of luxury but in return gives us so much unconditional love. She makes us laugh every day at her antics and the only toy she has learned to play with is her “squeaker”. She is now 9 and as Desi used to say “Lucy…you have some ‘spaining to do.” She is in good health but we will never know the effects of those first 5 years on her longevity and that is why I would love to have her painted! Thanks for the chance!
Ashley says
PAINT MY PET!
I would love to have my 5 year old cat Ellie be painted. She’s so quirky and independent, but loves it when someone pays full attention to her!
Amanda says
Paint my pet! My 12-year-old miniature schnauzer, Barley, is a handsome, sophisticated gentleman who loves the outdoors, barking at cats, and wrestling his kid brother. He’s my best friend.
Jennifer G. says
PAINT MY PET!
I would have my dog Peanut painted. She is the best dog always happy and loves to play fetch.
Cameron says
PAINT MY PET! I have a yellow lab and a 3-legged pit bull rescue that are the “babies” of our household. I can’t imagine our lives without them and would love to have them permanently captured in a painting.
Matt M says
PAINT MY PET! I’d pick our dog Max. He’s the youngest of the family and I think he’d be a great subject. It would certainly pi$$ the cat off. :)
