And the lucky random pet parent who’s about to get a cheery pet portrait is… Kirstin (who’s excited to get a portrait of Lola, her “adorable Boston Terrier/English Bulldog mix”). Congrats Kirstin AND Lola! UPDATE: Kirstin sent us a photo of Lola. Isn’t she a heartbreaker?
Somebody turned six last week around here. And his name rhymes with Schmurger (video evidence to come on Young House Life – we just have to upload it). Anyway, in honor of that exciting canine milestone, we’re hosting an exciting canine giveaway, courtesy of our good friend (and fellow Virginian) Lesli Devito. - NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The United States & Canada

PAINT MY PET!!!
I would have my pitmatian painted! She is 12 1/2 years old and is so cuddly and sweet. She still acts like a puppy at times and I just love her so much!!!

My dog Bella deserves a painting. We have the kids up everywhere, and one tiny picture of our shih tzu on the fridge. Her weird habit is that she is VERY protective…but only if we’re home. If we’re home and someone comes to the door she will bark forever. If we’re not home and someone comes to the door…she hides under the bed quivering. :)

Paint my pet! My dog, she barks more in her sleep than while awake!
Jess C says
PAINT MY PET! My baby, Alpha, is so loving! He stays with me in bed until I’m ready to get up every morning, loves to cuddle on the couch, and forgives me when I’m too tired for a walk. He is my bestest friend!

Our fur-kids as we like to call them Cam and Blakely are the loves of our lives. I’m not sure which one I would want painted because then that means I have to pick a favorite. I think they are the most fun to be around because they truly are members of our family. From sleeping on the bed (All 140lbs) to fluffing their pillows before falling asleep.

“PAINT MY PET!” i have two dogs, a check boxer (all white) named Mickey & a Mantel Great Dane/Doberman mix named Tuxedo. i would probably have Mickey painted as a gift to my husband since she is 9 years old (pretty old for a boxer) & we’re not sure how much longer she might be with us, since she has shown some signs of congestive heart failure…& theres really not much you can do for them at that point. :( but she is an amazing dog & is beyond wonderful with our 2 year old daughter Riley! she’s so tolerant & loves having books read to her while being climbed on & hugged & kissed!
ashley wilbanks says
PAINT MY PET… This is hard because we have 8 pets. But if I had to choose one for a painting it would be one of my 3 kitties. BBK or Baby Kitty. She has the most beautiful long white and grey hair and gorgeous eyes. Definately a show stopper even though I may be partial :).
Suz McA says
PAINT MY PET!! I don’t have a pet… YET… but I love some of the farm animal prints and they’d be SO cute in our kitchen!

My dog Gracie, of course, because she is the best dog ever!!!!

Paint my pet, please! My then-boyfriend, now-husband found Roxy on the side of the road with a bleeding paw in 2000. First she became his, then we all became each other’s. Recently she went blind and she’s having a tough time moving around, being a dog of a certain age.
Also, she was hip to bacon before it was A Trendy Thing.

PAINT MY PET! maxwell is the biggest lovebug. we call him “kitty cat”, even though he hates cats, because he snuggles up and begs to be rubbed. he also snores so loud we can hear him clear across the house! fall is his favorite time to chase rabbits around the yard; he never give up, even though he NEVER gets them! such a cutie!

PAINT MY PET!
I would love to gift my mom a painting of her dog Sam! He’s giant and drools all over, but she loves him (maybe more than me and my sister, haha)!
Amber says
Paint my pet!! My mom would LOVE this especially because our dog is getting very old!

Paint my pet!
Our Peke-Chi, Bonnie, was meant to be. We found her in Atlanta when I was there for a year on an internship and she had just been rescued from a shelter in Alabama. She’s energetic and so loving! She turns six in two weeks.

“PAINT MY PET!”
Our cat was a wild, feral, skinny, abandoned thing who now likes to sleep with my husband – on his chest. When the husband snores the cat puts his paw on my husband’s face.
Laura says
Paint my pet! I would have our dog Abby painted. . She’s a beautiful chocolate lab who has tons of personality and will give the sweetest look in hopes that we’ll let her on the bed with us.
k says
paint my pet! i’d love to have a portrait of my dog. he is absolutely adorable and quite handsome. he recently won best all around in a photo contest at his vets office :) the funniest thing about him is he can hear a bag of skittles opening inside even when he is running around in the yard… and runs to the door to be let in so he can claim his share (usually 2, but 3 if he’s having an extra cute day).
Lynzee S. says
PAINT MY PET! I would love to have a painting of my sweet little poppet, Jane. Plain named, but her personality is not, hence her nickname Princess Pop-o-dopulous.
Amber says
PAINT MY PET! I’d have my 2 Jack Russells, Lucie and Daphnie, painted. If I could only have 1 dog, I guess I would have to splurge and pay for the 2nd painting! They act just like little humans and are both so different and so funny together..like true sisters.
Lauren says
Paint my pet. I would paint my great Dane Stella, who is lovable because she snuggles us like a human being.
Sarah L. says
Paint my pet! We said goodbye to Abbie, our terrier mix in January after 17 years. I would love to have a way to memorialize her in our home. She was a lover and a protector and a loyal friend for almost half my life. I had no idea when I adopted her while in college she would be with me so long. I even showed lesli’s blog to my husband many months ago (a little hint, hint!) because I love her paintings!
Georgiana CK says
PAINT MY PET! (please) I have 2 cats: Gingko & Roomba. I’m especially want to give tribute to lil’ Ginky-poo since he’s almost fully recovered. This poor kitty got dragged by a car and lost all of his skin on his hind leg (gross and terrible–I know!). We thought he was going to lose his leg too! But daily vet visits, emergency room trips, meds, and supporting his feline immune system with good old fashion natural living has made a HUGE difference. He is recovering well and almost all of his fur has grown back–Gingko is our super-trooper-pooper and Roomba has been a great best friend through it all for him. So that’s why we’d love this Give-away! Thanks!! XO
Erika says
Paint my pet! Rowsby Woof, our naughty little (fat) dachshund…Many shortcomings, but always so sweet–even when his fur/tail/paws/nose is being pulled by baby.
Ashley W says
Paint my pet. Our dog Watson can balance up on his legs and it looks like he is sitting like a person.
Stephanie says
PAINT MY PET! My pup is a miniature dachshund.. and since we are currently being pummeled by rain, I’d love to see how she would look on my wall wearing the same expression she has when she goes out – do all parents of small dogs know the, “Are you kidding me? You expect ME to go out in THAT?” look?
Carisa says
PAINT MY PET! I’d have my sister’s dog painted because she always makes me smile!
Jamie says
Paint my pet! I’d have my parents’ cat Boo turned into art. She’s been the best companion for Mom and Dad since me and the little bro have moved out of the house!
Beth says
Paint my pet! We have a new puppy that I got the day after I sent my youngest to kindergarten! Love a painting of her!
Rebecca says
PAINT MY PET! My cat is super friendly.
Emily says
PAINT MY PET!! I’d love a painting on my dog Finch. He’s a big cuddler and is so affectionate. Pound puppy rescues are the best!!
Mia says
PAINT MY PET! I have a maltese named Butler who is just the sweetest, cutest, and weirdest! He’s about to turn one, and would sure love a birthday gift!
Stephanie says
PAINT MY PET!
I’d get a painting done of my family’s dog, Peanut. She’s a motivator for my dad to exercise. She adorably cries when anyone returns from being away for a long time, and she’s afraid of little kids and sprinklers. I’d give the painting to my parents as a gift.
Amanda B says
PAINT MY PET! I don’t know how I’d pick between Alfred (the butler) black lab and Laney the miniature dachshund. They are quite the cuddly pair and love to play together despite their 100 pound size difference.
Amy Daisy says
PAINT THE OL PET!!! I would paint my dog Mo because he is the love of my life and has the best Groucho Marx eyebrows.
Brooke says
PAINT MY PET! I would have my fat cat Scooter painted! He may not be a dog but he sure licks everyone he meets like he is one (He’ll lick one spot for hours if you let him). Scooter is the most un-graceful cat I’ve ever had. He gallops around the house like a galoot crashing into and falling off things. He’s a big cat at 18 pounds (he’s a little chunky but mostly a really large cat!) and he may not be the smartest fellow int he world but he sure is handsome! He is a gorgeous long haired lialc point siamese with super blue eyes(slightly crossed eyed). No matter where he goes everyone comments about how handsome he is! I love him to bits.
Tabitha says
PAINT MY PET! My kitties Jack & Domino would be the subject of this artwork. Jack is fat, sweet, and docile but afraid of everything; Domino is an inquisitive troublemaker who wins over everyone he meets with his friendly cuddles.
Laurie says
Paint my pet!My pet is Sweetie. She is magical for a million reasons but mainly because she brings us all together. We all agree that she is the Sweetest girl in the world. We rescued her, and she recused us right back.
Jen says
PAINT MY PET! Our rescue puggle, Carlos, is our best friend. Life simply is better because he is in it:)
Rebecca says
PAINT MY PET!! My pup Jaxson is amazing, always there to snuggle when you need

I’d love to have my Lab, Ava, painted. She’s super sweet, always ready for a hug or to play fetch & has this adorable habit of snoring! LOL!
Madison says
PAINT MY PET!
I have an adorably old shetland sheepdog who could give burger a run for his money in the sleeping department! He wakes up for two reasons, food and walks.
Stephanie Trick says
PAINT MY PET!!!
I’d love to surprise my husband with a portrait of Riley, our Aussie/Spaniel rescue dog. She’s equal parts cuddly, playful, and brainiac. She even learned to clean up her own toys when when we tell her to “go get ’em! clean up your mess!”
Sarah Hartshorne says
Paint me pet!
My cat, Rue, sings when he goes to the litter box.
Marissa says
PAINT MY PET! I would want my dog Gavin painted. He came from the shelter and he is the sweetest dog ever! He thinks he is tough and tries to catch rabbits, but I don’t think he will ever get one!
Kacey says
PAINT MY PET! I’d love for Sammy to be immortalized! He will do anything for food, and he’s very smart put pretends to be dumb because he’s lazy. He’s the best! We just lost our other dog Greta–she passed away unexpectedly the day after we brought our new baby home from the hospital, so Sammy has lost a friend and had to deal with the first baby. He’s a trooper : )
Leasa says
Paint my pet! I have 2 dogs – one is a complete mix (we had her dna tested!) and one is a cattle dog. They are our first ‘kids’ and now they are getting older and crankier and not so quick to jump on the couch and cuddle with me. Never thought to get a portrait done – very cute!
Felicity says
PAINT MY PET!
I’d have my pug-chihuahua mix, Nibbler painted. He’s my best friend. He always knows when I am feeling sad and will come sit in my lap and snuggle. Plus he is the award-winning sloppiest kisser in Brooklyn!
Nicole R says
PAINT MY PET! I would love a painting of my bunny, Chloe. She is loveable and weird in many, many ways, but I especially love the way she runs right up to new people and demands their attention/worship
Jane B. says
“PAINT MY PET” or should I say My Sister’s Pet. My sister (and her family) are in love.love.love! with their little dog Louie. It would ROCK to be able to gift them an original Leslie DeVito of Louigie. With paws crossed you’ll pick my entry….
