Fab Freebie: Portrait Of A Fido

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

And the lucky random pet parent who’s about to get a cheery pet portrait is… Kirstin (who’s excited to get a portrait of Lola, her “adorable Boston Terrier/English Bulldog mix”). Congrats Kirstin AND Lola! UPDATE: Kirstin sent us a photo of Lola. Isn’t she a heartbreaker?

Lesli Devito Giveaway Winner Lola

Somebody turned six last week around here. And his name rhymes with Schmurger (video evidence to come on Young House Life – we just have to upload it). Anyway, in honor of that exciting canine milestone, we’re hosting an exciting canine giveaway, courtesy of our good friend (and fellow Virginian) Lesli Devito. She’s got an incredible knack for turning a photo of your pet into a brightly colored, cheerful piece of artwork that’ll wake up any wall. So start digging out that perfect snapshot of your pup (or kitty or whatever else) and hunting for the perfect spot for that 20 x 20″ custom painting that just may be coming your way!

  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PAINT MY PET!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … what pet you’d want painted. And while you’re at it, what’s one thing that makes your pet especially lovable, weird, loyal, or just generally fun to have around?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, October 3rd at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States & Canada
  • DISCOUNT: 15% off any order when you mention YHL with your order (through October 15th)

Please Paint My Friend’s Pet! As much as I would love a painting of my sweet puppy… My friend could really use a painting to brighten up her life right now. Her Pomeranian, and long time companion passed away last week and she’s been really blue. I think a painting of her sweet ‘Honey Bear” would make her so happy! Such a wonderful giveaway! Thanks.

PAINT MY PET! My dog Max (a golden doodle) is such a little ham and snuggle bug. He’s never far from me whenever I’m working on a project, or just on the couch. He’s obsessed with eating my leftover apple cores, and will stare me down until I give it to him.

PAINT MY PET! My bulldog Luna is just the best. She does an excellent job of making us laugh just by being her goofy self. One of my favorite quirks of hers is that she likes to sit on the steps to the second floor, so she can “survey her domain” in the living room.

Paint My Pet! We would love our dog Dudley to be painted. He’s a 70lb yellow lab with the most lovable dopey personality. We call him our leaner because no matter where you are in the house he has to be leaning against you. Washing the dishes, he lays down right behind you; sitting on the couch he leans against your legs. When my husband and I hug he has to get right between us. He’s just our big baby.

PAINT MY PET! I’d love to have a painting of our dog, Nutty Buddy. He may be a nut, but he’s our nut. We got him from the pound almost 11 years ago when he was just about 1 years old and they were not able to tell us much except that he was found on an Interstate wondering around. That day when my husband went to the pound to pick out a dog for us, I actually think Nutty Buddy picked us out. Nutty Buddy ‘marked’ my husband’s shoes and my husband thought it was meant to be. He was one wild dog, but has calmed some over the years. It’s hard to watch age take a toll on him, but, we love him as part of the family.

i would love to get a portrait done of my dog Freckles. We had to put Freckles down last year, Nov 17th, at 14 yrs old and we miss him terribly!! he was the most amazing and loyal companion ever. he would always be at your feet when you sat on the sofa, so we always joked that we were gonna get him stuffed and made into an ottoman after he passed. lol we decided to have him cremated and now his ashes have a special place in our home!!

PAINT MY PET! We adopted a little spaz of a dog Wyatt 2 years ago and he’s the life of the party. When he’s not cuddling up to anyone and everyone that walks in the door (especially kids) he’s off hamming it up by splashing in his play pool, bringing in “treasures” from outside, the list goes on and on.

Paint my Pet! My kitten Maki(Not named after sushi – but a carmel macchiato – I still haven’t figured out how I want to spell her name) – anyways – Maki loves to play fetch. She will fetch her stuffed spider over and over and over. Sometimes she likes to surprise me and dunk it in her water before she brings it to me. She’s a quirky calico…with lots of personality.

I’d have my Boston Terrier, Toby, painted. I was a dog walker for two years during college and he was with me every step of the way. Now he spends his days relaxing on my couch with an inordinate amount of chew toys. He’s like a party of the family!

PAINT MY PET! We just adopted a Chiweenie that was abandoned (owner tied her to a porch with a sign attached) and you’d think for someone to do something that mean, the dog would be a nightmare. But she isn’t, she’s an awesome sweet little dog that just wants to curl up in your lap. When we take her for long walks at a local offleash dog hike area, she frequently will steal tennis balls from pit bulls and take up chase with dogs twice her size. The girl’s got moxie!
