Since we know you guys love personalized stationery as much as we do (and we always like to support other husband and wife teams), we’re psyched to bring you this week’s giveaway from Wild Ink Press. This duo – plus their 2 year old son/sidekick- churns out beautiful letterpress stationery by hand (and foot). And they print all of their stuff on 100% recycled paper or cotton and reuse everything from scraps to clean-up rags, always keeping their process as eco-friendly as possible. But of course, it’s their stunning designs that are the real stars of their process.
And this week, TWO of you are going to win a custom set of letterpress stationery (up to a $150 value each!). Here are the five designs our winners will have the pleasure of choosing from, either for themselves (or maybe even as a Valentine’s Day gift?). First we have The Signature, which puts your name in a silver metallic script with a custom icon to add some whimsy. And you can pick from green, pink, khaki or gray envelopes to match. Man, I wish my signature came out this fancy looking every time I sign on the dotted line.
The Dictionary is a classic design with dark brown or black ink on ivory paper. And speaking of the ivories, the khaki envelope comes lined with vintage sheet music or an actual dictionary page (smoking jacket and pipe not included).
The Bandana Paisley is kinda dusty old west meets colorful sophistication. Pick from a magenta, turquoise, purple or red paisley to coordinate with a gray, khaki or purple envelope. A far cry from the days of the Pony Express.
The Nautical had us at “ahoy.” It comes on beachy pale blue paper with a ship ghosted in the background and a handsome navy envelope.
The Audrey is a combo of a sophisticated dotted pinstripe and your name printed in a playful circus font. The orange or magenta color options for both the type and envelope finish off the big top design.
Have you already picked out the one you love? Well here’s how you can vie for your chance to win (bonus: stay tuned for a discount on Thursday- everyone sort of wins in the end):
- PRIZE: A 30-piece set of custom letterpress stationery from Wild Ink Press (selected from the five designs shown here).
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PRESS ME” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: …tell us about your writing style. Do you write exclusively in cursive? Do you rock all caps all of the time? Do you dot your I’s with something special? Is your penmanship virtually unreadable? Or do you just avoid hand-writing at all costs?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, February 3rd at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
- PRIZE SHIPS: You name it. They’ll ship it anywhere!
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

PRESS ME
I tend to go back and forth between cursive and non-cursive (why can’t I think of the proper word for that?) when I have to manually write. When I can, I try to type because I do not like my handwriting. However, a personal thank you note is not nearly as personal when it’s typed. :)

I use a mixture of printing and cursive. Typically, I start with print which gradually morphs into cursive as I go. It is sometimes strange to look at session notes that start looking nice and neat with block printing but end with elegant cursive… if it wasn’t me I’d think the same notes were written by different people!

In my five years as a teacher, I took pride in my neat-as-a-pin manuscript. But now that I’m a stay at home mom, all of that is out the window! I’m all about whatever is fastest, which is usually a cursive/manuscript hybrid. FREEDOM!! :)

Even with Facebook/Twitter/MySpace, I still belive in the power of the handwritten note. My handwriting is an inheritance from my father, an artist. It’s elegant cursive. Write on!
carak says
PRESS ME…my writing is a combo of both cursive and print. Some people tell me they love it, others have trouble reading it. But, my grandma once said it reminds her of my grandpa’s handwriting, which makes me like it even more.
Danielle says
PRESS ME! My writing is a loopy mix of cursive and writing – and I always get compliments on it.
Without a doubt, no questions asked I would go for the Nautical.

My handwriting is getting worse and worse – I think due to how much I’m on the computer! But when I do write – CAPS or cursive!
Wendy in Seattle says
PRESS ME!
I write in a weird combination of script and print.
Emily says
PRESS ME! I usually do a mix of uppercase and lowercase. More like: emiLY, or YouNGHouSeLoVe, but it’s all the same height, of course.
Felicia Silva says

I write in cursive and print…im talking all in the same sentence too.

I have been told by my mother that I have the handwriting of a 5 year old. I have never gotten better, and because of this she decided she would be the one handwriting my wedding invitations. Though, I have to admit I do want pretty handwriting!
Celenia says
PRESS ME!
I write each word with a mix of cursive and print, which is something that my handwriting has evolved into as I used to write strictly in cursive. Either way its usually very neat as I like all things pretty.
Jess says
PRESS ME!
I alternate between cursive and print, depending on my mood…
And man, I’m torn between the Signature for me or the Dictionary for the hubs…Should I be selfish or sweet? :)
Robyn says
PRESS ME! I send tons of hand-written correspondence, however, my handwriting is seriously lacking. It looks like that of a 14 year old boy!
Shelli Ryan says

I have this weird half cursive/ half print handwriting going on.

PRESS ME!!
When I send out thank you notes or birthday cards I only write in cursive. My handwriting is neat and easily read. I can also see how my handwriting is similar to other family member’s penmanship, which is kinda cool (the loops look like my great-aunt’s, the way I have a hook on capital M’s and N’s looks like my mom’s, etc.)
Sylvia says

I avoid cursive at all costs. I’m all about the free-hand written notes to others. I blur my words together and loop my letters together with more curves. But I think cursive is just way too “prim” for my notes to others!
Melissa says
PRESS ME!
My writing is a 50/50 mixture of cursive and print, and I always put a big flourish on the uppercase I. However, I can no longer remember how to do the cursive uppercase Q and G! And my Fs were never any good to begin with, so those are always printed.
Gorgeous stationery!
Alyssa says
PRESS ME!!!! i barely write any more (too much computer) but would love to practice my way back to beautiful cursive!

A sorry combination of cursive and printing with some letters leaning to the right and some leaning to the left. I grew up to my father saying how letting go of the Palmer method was the demise of handwriting in American schools. He may have been correct!
Katy says

When I write, it is usually print, but sometimes cursive gets mixed in with my print.
Jen says

I use a combination of print and cursive… I join certain letters together but not others. I think sometimes my writing is a little sloppy but have been told by others that it’s neat and fun so I must be doing something ‘write’ :-P

I write exclusively in print. I don’t even think I remember how to write in cursive anymore, besides my signature!
carissa says
You guys always im-PRESS ME! Tee hee!
I don’t do much well and I’m not artistic, but I am downright vain about my handwriting. Hey, my mom made me practice as a kid for hours on end (and her writing is gorgeous).
My print (which I use for organization-y things, like my to-do lists or report outlines) is painfully straight and spaced. My cursive looks like it came from Victorian England — I use it for brainstorming, creative writing, and writing notes and letters.
Complete strangers have come up to me and asked me to address their wedding invitations if they see my writing in public.
Hey, it’s nice to do at least one thing well! I think pretty penmanship is a lost art!

I always write in cursive! I love the way it dresses up anything you’re writing– grocery list, quick notes, whatever.

A sometimes lovely, sometimes sloppy combination of pointy cursive and print is what sets me apart!

BONUS QUESTION: …tell us about your writing style. Do you write exclusively in cursive? I write mostly in cursive. Gotta dot the i’s and cross the t’s=)

My handwriting is a mix of print and cursive.
Lisa says
PRESS ME! Wow, their designs are beautiful. I am a much faster typist nowadays so I try to avoid hand-writing whenever possible… but for thank-you notes, etc. I do pick up a pen. I use a weird mish-mash of mostly printing but with some connected/quasi-cursive letters. I hated learning cursive in elementary school because I thought all of the letters looked funny, but I had a babysitter who was very artistic and had beautiful hand-writing, so I always tried to emulate her print-script hybrid.
Jenet says

When I was in school, I had the perfect handwriting. Not perfect as in good looking, but perfect as in textbook print where all the letters were evenly spaced, at 90 deg angles, etc. My professors used to always comment on it…but then again, I am an engineer. I have since stopped putting that much effort into writing (don’t know why I did that in the first place). Now I tend to be in such a hurry I only write half of a word and let the rest trail off in a squiggle.

I am a kindergarten teacher, so usually I am writing very carefully to form my letters so that the kids can see the correct way to do it. When I am not teaching, I basically have chicken scratch. :)

Being the youngest of three girls, as a child I would often make random squiggles across a page and then ask my sisters if any of my scribbling had formed letters! Clearly I was destined to be a cursive writer, and to this day will always write any formal correspondence as such. However, when writing in very small doses, like for labels, I like to print and then detail every letter with serifs. This really gives everything a personal touch.

Writing is deep in my heart–I’m a fiction writer who still does all first drafts by hand, in a bizarre combination of cursive and print.
Amy @ Renovation Innovation says
PRESS ME! Back in my student days, I noticed that when writing in exams, my handwriting would slant to the left (which apparantly indicates pessimism/negativity), but when taking notes in class, it would slant more to the right (indicating optimism).

PRESS ME! :)
When I hand write notes I have to have a good pen. Pentel RSVP pens are my favorite. I switch between cursive and print and skinny and fat. Sending and receiving snail mail is the best gift.
