Fab Freebie: Save Room For Cake

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Our lucky winner this week is… N Shirley (whose favorite dessert “to both make and eat is Virginia Apple Pudding – even makes the whole house smell good!”) Sounds delicious. Congrats!

We’ve had a few questions about why all contests aren’t open to international readers, so here’s that info for you. We actually ask every single vendor who approaches us to do a giveaway if they’ll ship internationally and we remind them that the more folks are included, the more exciting it is for everyone. We LOVE you all and always want to open our giveaways to as many people as possible! It unfortunately comes down to each company’s policy (some folks are set up to deal with customs/shipping internationally while some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – even if it’s just a book or a gift card). Sadly, we can’t change companies policies, and if we held out for international prizes and rejected everything else, we could no longer host weekly giveaways – which we’ve done for years. Hope that makes sense! We’ll continue to do our best to include as many of you guys as we can (we’re so glad this cookbook is open to Canadians too!).

With Thanksgiving just days away, think of this week’s giveaway as a warm up to all of the delicious food you’ll be stuffing your face with come Thursday. The mother-daughter team behind Philly’s Brown Betty Dessert Boutique is celebrating their new cookbook, The Brown Betty Cookbook, by giving away a copy along with $100 towards Terrain, whose wares appears on the cookbook’s pages. So if you’re like us and drool equally over amazing desserts and stylish kitchenware, you’re in luck. Seriously. I think I got a sugar high just by looking at some of the pictures.

    I looove anything with peanut butter in it, but a soft peanut butter cookie and a glass of milk is so delish!!!

    Our 3rd generation pumpkin pie recipe is the absolute best! But who can withstand a homemade chocolate chip cookie?!

    I love anything warm and chocolately, but I absolutely swoon over chocolate chocolate chips cookies! They are the perfect combination of chocolate chip cookies and warm brownies.

    CAKE ME!!! I would do *almost* anything for a dark chocolate cupcake with peanut butter frosting. Ugh. Chocolate Raspberry tart is a very close second. Thanks for the great giveaway!

    Cake Me! Favorite cake is coconut carrot cake from Hops Supply Company in Wilmington, NC. I just had it for the first time last weekend and it was awesome!

    CAKE ME! Probably my all-time favorite dessert is my Grandma’s peach cobbler. It’s my first request every year at my birthday. Birthday cake–I can take it or leave it, but I could eat a whole pan of that cobbler by myself. Especially with fresh peaches… mmmm… my mouth is watering right now!

    CAKE ME!

    My favorite baked desert is sooooo easy to make it’s ridiculous. It’s an apple tart made with granny smith apples and golden raisins. It gets baked in a springform pan so there’s no fussing with the crusts. I top it with a homemade caramel sauce that I whip up in about 15 minutes flat. It is to die for. Normally, I’m a sucker for chocolate but at this time of year, apple tart with caramel sauce is divine.

    CAKE ME!

    A local cupcake place makes a Maple Bacon cupcake only in February and it is by far my favorite baked dessert. It sounds odd but I promise it’s salty, sweet, and delicious.
