Fab Freebie: Save Room For Cake

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Our lucky winner this week is… N Shirley (whose favorite dessert “to both make and eat is Virginia Apple Pudding – even makes the whole house smell good!”) Sounds delicious. Congrats!

We’ve had a few questions about why all contests aren’t open to international readers, so here’s that info for you. We actually ask every single vendor who approaches us to do a giveaway if they’ll ship internationally and we remind them that the more folks are included, the more exciting it is for everyone. We LOVE you all and always want to open our giveaways to as many people as possible! It unfortunately comes down to each company’s policy (some folks are set up to deal with customs/shipping internationally while some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – even if it’s just a book or a gift card). Sadly, we can’t change companies policies, and if we held out for international prizes and rejected everything else, we could no longer host weekly giveaways – which we’ve done for years. Hope that makes sense! We’ll continue to do our best to include as many of you guys as we can (we’re so glad this cookbook is open to Canadians too!).

With Thanksgiving just days away, think of this week’s giveaway as a warm up to all of the delicious food you’ll be stuffing your face with come Thursday. The mother-daughter team behind Philly’s Brown Betty Dessert Boutique is celebrating their new cookbook, The Brown Betty Cookbook, by giving away a copy along with $100 towards Terrain, whose wares appears on the cookbook’s pages. So if you’re like us and drool equally over amazing desserts and stylish kitchenware, you’re in luck. Seriously. I think I got a sugar high just by looking at some of the pictures.

    CAKE ME… If I have to choose just one it has to be my homemade ( so i can add extra chocolate chips) cannoli cream!!!! It’s so good it should be illegal!!!

    My Nana’s Old English Cake with her homemade frosting. Not too sweet, amazing spices… Perfectly homey. Now excuse me while I daydream and try to find that recipe.

    Cake Me! I love pretty much every possible baked good, but some of my homemade favorites are my mom’s birthday cake with Mike & Ikes, my Grandma’s sweet potato pie, my aunt’s caramel brownies, my neighbor’s pound cake, and my other neighbor’s German chocolate cake. As for non-homemade, I love Momofuku’s Crack Pie. So yeah, I love baked goods :)

    Cake me! My current favorite baked good are these super amazing smore cookie bars I made (because simply making a smore was apparently not complicated enough for me). BUT my all time favorite are my ‘magic cupcakes’ (no I did not name them, and No they are not related to ‘special brownies’). They are a triple chocolate (but moist and not heavy) cupcake with homemade peanut butter buttercream icing. They are delectably light and fluffy, yet fully rich and satisfying. Everytime I make them something magical happens, so maybe they’ll be my lucky charm this week!

    I LOVE to make the New York Times chocolate chip cookies. They are to die for! Practically the only recipe that I follow with no changes.

    Cake Me!!

    My favorite dessert is my Moms favorite which is Hershey’s Perfectly Chocolate cake. We got the recipe off the back of a Hershey’s Cocoa container years ago and it really is just the perfect chocolate cake!

    My all time fav is hands down a red velvet cupcake with cream cheese frosting! Just enough to get me out of my bad mood…or keep me floating in my good mood!

    Cake me!!! My current favorite baked good is Pumpkin Cheesecake Cake! It’s cheesecake sandwiched between pumpkin cake smothered in cream cheese frosting. Sooooo good!

    Thanks for the explanations on the shipping restrictions some companies may have.
    Too bad but it does make sense.
    Has your publisher ever mentioned touring Europe with your book?

      Our publisher has vaguely mentioned the possibility of extending the tour, but we don’t know any details quite yet or whether even it will happen. We would LOVE to end up overseas, but our publisher has to weigh whether we’d be able to sell enough books to balance out the cost of the trip.
