Fab Freebie: Save Room For Cake

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Our lucky winner this week is… N Shirley (whose favorite dessert “to both make and eat is Virginia Apple Pudding – even makes the whole house smell good!”) Sounds delicious. Congrats!

We’ve had a few questions about why all contests aren’t open to international readers, so here’s that info for you. We actually ask every single vendor who approaches us to do a giveaway if they’ll ship internationally and we remind them that the more folks are included, the more exciting it is for everyone. We LOVE you all and always want to open our giveaways to as many people as possible! It unfortunately comes down to each company’s policy (some folks are set up to deal with customs/shipping internationally while some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – even if it’s just a book or a gift card). Sadly, we can’t change companies policies, and if we held out for international prizes and rejected everything else, we could no longer host weekly giveaways – which we’ve done for years. Hope that makes sense! We’ll continue to do our best to include as many of you guys as we can (we’re so glad this cookbook is open to Canadians too!).

With Thanksgiving just days away, think of this week’s giveaway as a warm up to all of the delicious food you’ll be stuffing your face with come Thursday. The mother-daughter team behind Philly’s Brown Betty Dessert Boutique is celebrating their new cookbook, The Brown Betty Cookbook, by giving away a copy along with $100 towards Terrain, whose wares appears on the cookbook’s pages. So if you’re like us and drool equally over amazing desserts and stylish kitchenware, you’re in luck. Seriously. I think I got a sugar high just by looking at some of the pictures.

    CAKE ME!! Oh I could go on and on about my favorite baked goods, but I’d have to say at the moment, an oooey, gooey chocolate lava cake is just the best.

    CAKE ME!!!! Hard to pick just one, but right now has to be luscious Red Velvet with great cream cheese frosting!!! So appropriate for the season as well!!

    The chocolate cake and icing on the back of the Hershey’s Cocoa box is TO DIE FOR! I made myself a layer cake last year for my birthday and ate HALF of it before I came to my senses and threw the rest away (my hubby is a cake-hater).

    White almond birthday cake with buttercream icing. Don’t even try to pass off the whipped cream icing on me. Gotta be buttercream. Yummmmmm.

    Cake Me!! I love my grandmother’s wedding cookies that were drenched in powdered sugar that she would make every Christmas. I could smell them as soon as I stepped foot inside her breezeway.

    I love my mom’s Black and White cupcakes (chocolate cupcake with a cream cheese/chocolate chip filling), but right now I’m gearing up my tastebuds for our traditional holiday treats.

    My all time favorite dessert is Cenk’s Devil’s Food cake with Biscoff frosting. It was delicious and I felt so proud that it turned out so perfect.

    My fave are black bottom cupcakes. Combing rich and moist chocolate cake with decadent cheesecake is my idea of a good time :)

    CAKE ME!

    I though I knew what what favorite dessert was or at least had a vague idea. However when confronted with being asked to choose JUST ONE… I honestly can’t. Last year, during our family Christmas dinner, I created the trifecta- which was a sliver of pumpkin pie, a dollop of trifle, and a sliver of apple pie. All topped with several spoonfuls of whipped cream. Ahh, variety!

    So to be safe, I’ll answer a Cubano espresso and 3 homemade shortbread cookies!

    Cake me!

    I’m on a HUGE baking tear right now (cookies, breads, muffins) but my stuff barely looks presentable. Seriously, cake me. I need to make a chocolate cake pronto.

    CAKE ME!!!! My favorite all time is the chocolate chip cookie and I use the NYT recipe for the best ever!!! Sea salt sprinkled on top is what sets it above the rest! I live in south jersey, so I may just have to pop over to Philly to sample some Brown Betty treats! YUM….
