Since our eyes are constantly peeled for fun nursery art lately, we’re psyched to bring you this week’s giveaway from Grace Hester Designs. And even if you’re not expecting a little one, you might just spot the perfect piece to commemorate your wedding, your brood, or even your love of foreign languages amongst Grace’s type and silhouette-based art.
We love the idea of our little beanette learning some Spanish numbers or French animal names through these punchy designs (or even picking up a Chinese character or two). And it’s because of Grace’s fun range of prints that we couldn’t bear to narrow down this week’s prize to a specific group of designs – so TWO of you are gonna score a $50 credit toward anything in Grace’s etsy shop.
Here are this week’s entry details:
- PRIZE: A $50 credit towards any item from Grace Hester Designs
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “GRACE ME” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: …share with us your favorite word or saying from another language. Do you love the way a certain Italian word rolls off your tongue? Or maybe you have a go-to phrase that you learned when traveling abroad? If nothing else, is there an English word that sounds especially funny to you in Pig Latin?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, February 17th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
- PRIZE SHIPS: All over the globe!
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

Grace me!
Being partly Italian and loving to eat, “Mangia!” and “Buon Appetito!” were common phrases around our dinner table.
Sonia says

‘Dank u wel” and “Alstublieft” which are Dutch for “Thank you” and “Please”

Quel as et tu? (how old are you) would make a cool print. I often say it to myself when I am doing something delightfully silly.
Kristy says
“Grace Me” I love to say Je t’adore in my best possible french accent that a southern girl can do, and I’m lovin’ that bird print with the names (and my hubby has this wonderful obsession with birds that would complete it’s perfectness…)
KCatGU says
GRACE ME!
¿Dónde están mis llaves
is “where are my keys” in Spanish, but it is so more eloquent to sing the Spanish equivalent.

GRACE ME!
I took spanish for 5 years througout high school and college and love to intermix spanish words into everyday english. I love how they add “ita” or “ito” on the end of words to mean little and/or dear. It makes the word more sweet and affectionate. You could call burger your perrito (as opposed to perro, spanish for dog.)
I love that etsy shop!

Fáilte. When I studied in Ireland, my classmates and I were often greeted with this Gaelic word and told (in English, with a gorgeous lilt), “you are very welcome here.” There was something about the way they insisted…VERY welcome here. You couldn’t help but believe it.

All the foreign sentances I can say are rather umm…inappropriate ;) Let’s just go with Jes un sui, la Muzzy… only appropriate thing I know how to say in French. Probably didn’t spell it right, either.
Anyone else remember those crazy cartoon French/Italian/Spanish learning things for kids?! The Great Muzzy! Best buy at a garage sale ever.

I haven’t read through the comments, but I gotta say that there’s nothing much nicer than hearing “Te amo mi amor” from my (as of Saturday!) fiance. It means “I love you, my love” and just melts my heart.

Since I was in elementary school learning French, my favorite French word has always been “ananas” (pineapple). It just sounds so silly! I’m speaking only French to my 18 month old son, and I’m pregnant with our first girl now… one of those etsy French prints would be just great in the nursery.

I like Grazie and Prego….thank you and your welcome.

I love the simple phrase ‘Muchas Gracias,’ because my parents taught us to say ‘Thank you’ in a variety of languages when we were younger to make it ‘fun’ to use our manners!

This is embarassing, but my fav things to say are pet names and other words that my husband and I have made up for each other. I know, it makes you want to vomit. One word is squishuggle, a combination of squish, hug, and snuggle. I said it around our friends just to embarass my husband!

It is one thing I remember from Spanish – I think it means Where is the Parking Space? Which is really random and funny to me.

My most recent favourite phrases in another language are in Greek. We spent almost 2 weeks in Greece on our honeymoon and tried as much as possible to use the language.
So, thank you (????????? [Efharistó]), you’re welcome (???????? [parakaló]) and the casual way of saying hello (???? ??? [ya sas]).

An appropriate dutch expression for this blog would be “huisje boompje beestje” (little house, little tree, little animal), basically meaning you’re all settled in life !
