Yes, I know it looks like I have a misplaced apostrophe up there, but trust me on this one. This week’s prize will have one of you sending handwritten greetings across all seasons of the year (see, I’m looking less punctuationally deviant already).
As you may recall from Friday’s thank-you-to-our-sponsors post, Emmy Lu Design Studio is an awesome source for beautiful custom stationery with a DIY twist. Once you pick the style and fill in the custom details (whether it be a holiday card, personal stationery, an invitation or even a baby announcement) Emmy Lu hooks you up with a ready-to-print PDF. That means you can print as many as you want (whether you need five or five million), on any paper you want (bargain or mega-fancy-pants), for as long as you want (the file’s yours for eternity). Kinda genius, no?
And since it’s nearly impossible to pick your favorite design, this week’s winner is getting a year’s worth of them! That means a new card/invite/announcement of the winner’s choosing for every month of the year (which loosely translates to 12 excuses to throw a party, pen a thank you note or even write your mom a letter for crying out loud).
So here’s how you can get your hands on these greetings by the dozen:
- PRIZE: One custom Emmy Lu design per month (of $50 or less) for an entire year (that’s up to a $600 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “EMMY ME” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: …tell us what you do to send seasonal greetings. Do you pose for a traditional family Christmas card? Or something quirkier (like photoshopping your chihuahua)? Maybe you abstain from the madness completely?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, December 9th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the world!
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

“Emmy Me!” For the past two year’s my hubby and I have done online ordering of photo cards. The first year, a pic of our wedding, and the second year a pic of us AND our new additions, two new dogs. This year we’ll do the same. I like doing photos as opposed to just a card!

Since we just got married, our christmas cards were also thank you notes. 2 birds. 1 stone. perfect.

With our first year of marriage and our first new house, we want to start new traditions with our holiday greetings! This would give us the perfect start!

Boxed Christmas cards for me. I like to fill them out the weekend after Thanksgiving. :)

We picked out a card design on Etsy this year and printed our own. It was $5 for the PDF, $10 for a package of cardstock (much more than we needed, so some leftover for next year), and $8 for a couple of boxes of white envelopes. Very economical, and I love the modern design we picked out. We usually take a holiday picture with us holding our cats (aka “starter kids”) in front of the Christmas tree. With the addition of our 5-month-old kitten to our two cat furry family, it became obvious that the kitty picture wasn’t going to pan out this year. There was lots of growling and squirming. We did get a nice picture of the two of us in the end, though. :)

I’ve done a picture of our dogs by the Christmas tree before but mostly I do modified store bought by adding special touchs. I know I’ll be sending cute cards with our kids on them someday… just have to have the kids first.
KVB says
EMMY ME! We like photos from the year to provide a visual of what we have been up to since last year….

My husband and I are definitely on the quirky side when it comes to sending out holiday cards…or at least I am. We’re both graphic designers and this year I created a custom design around our pooch. Go to this link to see the finished product:

I send traditional Christmas cards. Snagged some really cute ones at Sam’s this year! I always try to write a little personal note in my cards, as I love to find those cards in my mailbox :)

We usually alternate between a photo Christmas card and a traditional greeting card…I’m still undecided as to what type of card we’ll do this year, but I better figure it out soon!

I usually make my own holiday cards, but since I love a good sale, I bought a bunch of pretty ones after Christmas last year at more than 50% off. Much easier!

We used to send out family photos and/or a Christmas letter but in order to eliminate some of the stress and cut costs we haven’t sent anything the past few years.
Emmy Me! says
oh, it all depends on what I can throw together at the last minute! Hopefully it includes a photo of the kids!

Always a family photo. I love receiving photos of people each Christmas!

We have a really funny plan for this year’s email card, but the photo just hasn’t happened yet. Hopefully we get it done soon, because we can’t put our tree up until then!

EMMY ME :)
This year, the hubby suggested holiday cards printed on recycled paper, which I definitely agreed to do! Now all we have to do is sit down in front of a Christmas-y movie and actually write them :)
Jenni says
EMMY ME! What an awesome idea! I’m still a work in progress when it comes to sending proper Christmas cards…last year we procrastinated and send New Years cards instead (whoops!) Maybe with Emmy Lu I’ll be inspired to get those cards out to the friends and fam ASAP! ;*)

We take a family picture every year for cards, but it’s not totally traditional, I try to abstain from santa sweaters.

We always buy our cards after Christmas (for the following year – 1/2 price, of course!) and then hand-write almost 100 of them. I always think I like the idea and then like it less and less… Recently, though, we’ve started including a fun picture collage insert – still doesn’t make up for over 100 hand-written cards but I figure our friends and family are more than worth it.

In the past we’ve sent out generic cards, but come March we’ll be a family of 3, so I forsee us sending out photo holiday cards!
Maura says

Been able to escape them so far but with our little bean due in March, we will need announcements and a holiday greeting card next year!
Erin says
Emmy me! I normally send out a simple greeting card during the holiday season. Two years ago we sent out a bunch because we got married. We were hoping to send out “new house” cards this year, but it doesn’t seem to be in the cards!
Amy says
EMMY ME!
I usually don’t send any holiday cards since we see most of our family and friends around the holidays. With the price of stamps skyrocketing, I think E-letters will become more of the norm :)
Michelle G. says

It’s a toss up for us…sometimes we write a Christmas letter detailing our year and other years we do a traditional Christmas card with handwritten notes inside. Regardless, we usually are late in sending them!
Mary says

Thanks for another great giveaway! Although I don’t do Christmas cards, as soon as I have a super cute husband and super cute kiddies, I definitely will want to show them off in an annual card!

EMMY ME!!!!
For the last 5 years, I usually start about 3 months prior to Christmas and make all my cards! I make several mock-ups and then pick my favorite that I’ll use for all the cards. Unfortunately, this year I haven’t had a chance to do this because we’re in the process of moving. These would be amazingly awesome so I don’t have to go with boring store-bought cards!
Rebecca says
EMMY ME! So excited about this one! My husband and I are also expecting our first little bean in May, so now we’ll probably start sending out Christmas cards – haven’t till now!

I try to get a somewhat decent photo of me and my dog from the past year and send a card. I’m pretty sure not that many people care to see my mug, but I do it so no one takes me off their mailing list — I LOVE getting cards, at Christmas and throughout the year!
Rebecca says
EMMY ME! I don’t usually send a holiday card, but I’ve always wanted to. No excuses if I win this!
Marcie says
EMMY ME!
I am definitely a lover of sending and receiving cards. We usually send a traditional card with a handwritten note inside. This is our first married holiday, so we have a lot to celebrate and be thankful for this year!

EMMY ME! Every Thanksgiving weekend, my dad (who happens to be a professional photographer) takes a family picture of me, my boyfriend, and our dog. I slap that picture onto cards and send out the holiday cards for friends and family!

EMMY ME! This year, I had boxes of cards that I bought after Christmas last year at Target, but instead, bought the photo cards that Sam’s Club had on special for black Friday. It had the traditional Christmas pic, but of myself, my husband, and our 2 pups!
