Yes, I know it looks like I have a misplaced apostrophe up there, but trust me on this one. This week’s prize will have one of you sending handwritten greetings across all seasons of the year (see, I’m looking less punctuationally deviant already).
As you may recall from Friday’s thank-you-to-our-sponsors post, Emmy Lu Design Studio is an awesome source for beautiful custom stationery with a DIY twist. Once you pick the style and fill in the custom details (whether it be a holiday card, personal stationery, an invitation or even a baby announcement) Emmy Lu hooks you up with a ready-to-print PDF. That means you can print as many as you want (whether you need five or five million), on any paper you want (bargain or mega-fancy-pants), for as long as you want (the file’s yours for eternity). Kinda genius, no?
And since it’s nearly impossible to pick your favorite design, this week’s winner is getting a year’s worth of them! That means a new card/invite/announcement of the winner’s choosing for every month of the year (which loosely translates to 12 excuses to throw a party, pen a thank you note or even write your mom a letter for crying out loud).
So here’s how you can get your hands on these greetings by the dozen:
- PRIZE: One custom Emmy Lu design per month (of $50 or less) for an entire year (that’s up to a $600 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “EMMY ME” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: …tell us what you do to send seasonal greetings. Do you pose for a traditional family Christmas card? Or something quirkier (like photoshopping your chihuahua)? Maybe you abstain from the madness completely?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, December 9th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the world!
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

EMMY ME!!
We try and get cards out every year, but due to the fact that none of us are ever around at the same time, it has turned into a collage-esk, boys and girls type card. But I love getting them!
Debra says
EMMY ME! Always cards to friends, not always to family.
Shannon says
EMMY ME! I can’t wait to have a family and get to send out my own Christmas cards…I think I will go for the unconventional, fun poses. Those are the most memorable, in my opinion!
Veronica says
EMMY ME! My husband and I have been married for 4 years and every year we send out a picture of us. You can tell we are DINKS because it’s a picture from our travels. This year we are sending one from Tuscany, where we traveled last June. Sooner or later the pics will be filled with kiddos so we might as well live it up now! People usually like to see where we have gone.

EMMY ME!
I make holiday phone calls, and try to talk to as many friends and family as possible. If they ask, I’ll send a photo card, if they aren’t home, I’ll leave a message and then send a card. Friends overseas I send cards, and just to make sure everyone is covered, I send out a blanket email!

EMMY ME…
my husband and i make our christmas cards together…whether it be a funny portrait or a glittered snowflake design…they are different every year.

We don’t usually send out Christmas cards but this year will be different: We just got engaged and want to use Christmas as the perfect time to send out Save the Dates! We just got engagement pictures taken and can’t wait to come up with some cute cards to send everyone as we plan our exciting day!
Chelsey says

EMMY ME! Totally stay out of it completely…BUT…since this year is our first with a little one year old, I think it’s time to whip out the pen and paper, or, as the case may be, the computer keyboard, and write a year-in-review family newsletter kinda thing. Why not! We’re parents and we have a little one to boast about! :)
Jenn D says

Stephanie says
EMMY ME! We usually send out Christmas cards but this year we are putting them on the back burner because we are head deep (yes knee-deep just doesn’t cut it) in DIY projects in our new home. =)
Scott says
EMMY ME! “Ooh, I don’t know if we’re there yet.” is my favorite thing to tell my wife to get out of sending holiday cards. It’s from her favorite tv show. Bonus points if you guess correctly. By the way, we’ve been happily married for 4 years but we’re still not there yet.
Mandy Rose says
EMMY ME!! We always looke forward to our family Christmas card and pose for it. This year we took 2-one cute and one goofy. I loved the goofy one!! This is my favorite time of the year to go to the mailbox! I love to see everyone elses family cards and letters, I cherish them.
AL says
Emmy Me … this year, I will facebook a greeting or post a holiday picture.

EMMY ME!
Actually – we’re one in the same – since I got married last year we started the new tradition of sending xmas cards that featured our Dachshund on the front. (funny caption and “full” family photo on the inside). This year Ammo the Dachshund will be appearing on the front again. Last year he was on santa’s lap (which you could barely make him out because we was only a couple weeks old and super tiny). This year he’s much bigger and we’ll have to decide which one to photoshop because we have so many good ones!

EMMY ME! pretty please.
As for cards, they are always handmade or designed since I am a graphic designer (my family would disown me, seriously, if I sent out store bought ones). Anyway, we have a 2 1/2 year old and the first two years we had to do our own creative photoshopping.
Year 1: Gabi would not look at the camera, so we have a collection of pointing and open mouths. We found one where we looked good together and photoshopped Gabi’s ‘good pose’ head onto that shot. Fooled everyone.
Year 2: Had the auto timer set up again, but Gabi was enthralled with Daddy as he came back toward us to get in the shot. Again, no shots with Gabi facing forward. So we took one shot with me holding her and another with he hubs alone with his arm up in the air as if it was ‘around me’ and I photoshopped him in with us – behind us and in front of the tree. Fun times! No one knew again!
Year 3: We’ll see what this year has in store for us. Our family photo is scheduled for the photo shoot here later in the week. By us. Photoshopped by me, I’m sure ;)

Shannon R. says
EMMY ME!!! Well, my husband and I haven’t done a Christmas card yet but this year, we were going to do a postcard type Christmas card on our Mac. You can put up to 5 pictures in the front of the card and a few sentences in the back. Perfect for us!

We don’t usually send out any holiday letters – only paper-free greetings in emails :-), but with a baby on the way (I’m in my 8th month – and glad to hear of your pregnancy too!), I would love to send out baby announcements!
Julie says
Emmy Me, please! Our tradition: I take pictures of my girls at Thanksgiving, but this year, a bunch of lousy ones (too windy, too squinty eyes, goofy grins, goofy posture, goofy location – not a good one in the bunch), so need to try again when the big girls get back from college. And I send out a Christmas letter w/ the picture, because even though Dear Abby poo poos Christmas letters, I love hearing about what is going on w/ our friends! Lots of changes in 25 years of marriage. And this year….Yikes, it is already the 7th and I am soooo far behind. Maybe a January letter? Certainly I can get one done before a Valentine letter is needed? I hope. Thanks much!
