Yes, I know it looks like I have a misplaced apostrophe up there, but trust me on this one. This week’s prize will have one of you sending handwritten greetings across all seasons of the year (see, I’m looking less punctuationally deviant already).
As you may recall from Friday’s thank-you-to-our-sponsors post, Emmy Lu Design Studio is an awesome source for beautiful custom stationery with a DIY twist. Once you pick the style and fill in the custom details (whether it be a holiday card, personal stationery, an invitation or even a baby announcement) Emmy Lu hooks you up with a ready-to-print PDF. That means you can print as many as you want (whether you need five or five million), on any paper you want (bargain or mega-fancy-pants), for as long as you want (the file’s yours for eternity). Kinda genius, no?
And since it’s nearly impossible to pick your favorite design, this week’s winner is getting a year’s worth of them! That means a new card/invite/announcement of the winner’s choosing for every month of the year (which loosely translates to 12 excuses to throw a party, pen a thank you note or even write your mom a letter for crying out loud).
So here’s how you can get your hands on these greetings by the dozen:
- PRIZE: One custom Emmy Lu design per month (of $50 or less) for an entire year (that’s up to a $600 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “EMMY ME” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: …tell us what you do to send seasonal greetings. Do you pose for a traditional family Christmas card? Or something quirkier (like photoshopping your chihuahua)? Maybe you abstain from the madness completely?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, December 9th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the world!
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

I love the good old fashion sending and receiving of cards, letters, and what not! So this would be very handy, not to mention gorgeous!

I don’t tend to send things out in bulk for holidays, but I love having some sweet cards around to send out to friends when they cross my mind. Random cards in the mail are way more meaningful than mass Christmas cards, in my opinion. (though I should probably do both)

EMMY ME! Homemade cards are the best :o)

We always use the cheapie photo cards from Target or Wal-Mart because they are the most cost effective. I would love to send out much cuter cards, but they add up!

Every year we send out a photo card of our three girls.

We went the photo card route this year! I found a site that gave 50 for free, couldn’t pass that deal up!
Janis from Scotland says
EMMY ME such beautiful cards to send – even on impulse. We just post our Christmas cards to friends and family and then follow up with a visit to most within easy walking/driving distance for some Christmas hugs.

As I live about 9k miles from my friends and family (Belgium vs Canada), for the last few years I put together a powerpoint show of photos of what I have been up to during the year with a few captions etc all set to music music in lieu if a traditional card. For those with without-e-mail (grandparents, etc), I make a 1 pg collage of the best shots and tuck it into a traditional card.

The original plan was to send out a family photo card this year, as we have the new Bambina to celebrate with and I love photo cards. But, time has slipped away from me and we’ve still not gotten a family picture. So, we’ll either do a traditional card with a picture of Ms. Eva or we’ll do a photo card of just her with one of her three month pictures.
Julia says
EMMY ME! Since it is just the two of us we don’t think anyone cares to see pictures of us growing older, so I usually try to make our Christmas cards from scratch. That way it is like they are getting a little piece of art as well as a greeting.

We had planned to take a “family” picture with our cat outside our new home, but didn’t get to it so we’re just sending a few regular cards!

We send out a personalized post card every year. Last year, we took a lesson from Burger and I can’t show you this year’s yet because it has not been sent out yet. We do everything ourselves from photo to design and layout. Here is last year’s card: http://beverlylynn.jeremyweber.com/?p=105

EMMY ME! I just looked at these for a Christmas party we’re throwing – oh, wouldn’t it be nice to win those!! This season we’re sending out Christmas cards with the obvious picture of my sister, brother and me for the ‘rents and then I’m sending gorgeously letterpressed cards to all of my best friends – I figured they didn’t want a card with a giant picture of my head.

In the past I have done photo greeting cards of my animals. Them curled together, or one or more of them with Santa. LOVE the photoshopped Burger/Rudolph card, btw. This year I am married and a stepmother, so we took a family photo. It was stressful, but well worth it in the end.

We’ve been married only 3 years. the first 2 years were infront of the tree. We wore reindeer antlers and dog wore santa hat. Next year we were infront of tree. Last year my husband wore his marine corps dress blues while we collected Toys for Tots during tree lighting ceremony. this year he came home from a 7 month deployment and he’s wearing cammies and we’re both smiling for the photo!
Jennie says
EMMY ME! We sent photo cards each year. Nothing too exciting, but very little hassle too.

I LOVE the Emmy Lu blog–always full of pretty designs and ideas!
As for our seasonal greetings, for the past few years we’ve just done a cute photo of our daughter with a nice holiday message. (It’s nice to finally be free of US being in the photos!) We were going to do a silly photo of her this year, but then went more traditional (with a mod design in Photoshop).

We used to pose for a traditional family photo card. But we’ve gotten lazy in the past few years. We’ve went with store bought cards for those without a computer and email cards for those who are connected. This year might try adding our head shots to some online musical card lol!
Meg says
I like to design my own cards – I think its fun to send a hard that no one else will have – however this year, I just haven’t gotten around to it yet!
Danielle says

I have had to rely on phone calls to send seasonal greetings for the last two seasons. Better than an e-mail though, right?! What a great giveaway….

I usually hand-make my cards each year. I come up with a theme and then make them assembly-line style: cutting first, them stamping, then gluing, etc. All while drinking a glass of wine and watching a Christmas movie!

EMMY ME: We don’t send Christmas cards, we wait for other holidays to send our card. In the past, we’ve sent Valentine’s Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, you get the idea. We usually try to send a photo collage card of some type.

I LOOOVE cards! I always get 2 birthday cards for my friends/family — one silly and one sentimental
I’m on a handmade kick right now — whipping out the ribbon and stamps to make some holiday cheer cards! :)

I make these delicious spiced nuts (thanks to mom-in-law’s recipe), and this year I’m giving them out in festive gold Chinese take-out style boxes with a faux-poinsetta bloom tied to the top. They are pretty AND delicious!
Tracey R.S. says
EMMY-ME! I have to admit we don’t give cards to everyone. For close family and friends we give individual cards that are meaningful (yay for Hallmark!).For everyone else, sadly, it’s e-cards.

My fiance draws a “festive” animal and I have it printed on postcards using Moo.com. Last year we sent out the Amazing Christmas Zebra – he had red and green stripes and wore a headband with antlers. This year we’re sending out a Christmas Giraffe who’s all lit up with Christmas lights and has two star tree toppers on his head :)
Oh and the best part about using Moo is we can include a little photo of us on the bottom left hand corner (by changing my buddy icon image on Flickr) with the name of the animal and our names too!

We hunt-hunt-hunt for cute cards to send out, and are sure to hand-write the recipients’ names and a greeting inside. Then, for each of our gifts, I make tags out of funky stationary (last year’s were on Kate Spade’s white/green stripey one, which looked adorable on out red/white dotted wrapping paper), including a little note to the giftee. Whew!
