Yes, I know it looks like I have a misplaced apostrophe up there, but trust me on this one. This week’s prize will have one of you sending handwritten greetings across all seasons of the year (see, I’m looking less punctuationally deviant already).
As you may recall from Friday’s thank-you-to-our-sponsors post, Emmy Lu Design Studio is an awesome source for beautiful custom stationery with a DIY twist. Once you pick the style and fill in the custom details (whether it be a holiday card, personal stationery, an invitation or even a baby announcement) Emmy Lu hooks you up with a ready-to-print PDF. That means you can print as many as you want (whether you need five or five million), on any paper you want (bargain or mega-fancy-pants), for as long as you want (the file’s yours for eternity). Kinda genius, no?
And since it’s nearly impossible to pick your favorite design, this week’s winner is getting a year’s worth of them! That means a new card/invite/announcement of the winner’s choosing for every month of the year (which loosely translates to 12 excuses to throw a party, pen a thank you note or even write your mom a letter for crying out loud).
So here’s how you can get your hands on these greetings by the dozen:
- PRIZE: One custom Emmy Lu design per month (of $50 or less) for an entire year (that’s up to a $600 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “EMMY ME” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: …tell us what you do to send seasonal greetings. Do you pose for a traditional family Christmas card? Or something quirkier (like photoshopping your chihuahua)? Maybe you abstain from the madness completely?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, December 9th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the world!
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

Its my husband’s and my first Christmas as a married couple, so we went ahead and did a photo-card with the pups to celebrate the occasion!

I have three college-age sons. In late fall I invite them all out to eat — and oops! — they find a pro photographer aiming a camera at them before they get any chow. It’s the only way I can get them all in one place at one time for a holiday card photo.

EMMY ME! We always send cards, but are holding off on photocards until we are blessed with a little baby. Although it is very tempting to send one of our dog…cause she is like our little girl!

I love receiving Christmas cards in the mail, but I always wait until too late to send mine and end up sending an e-mail instead.

my husband is opposed to sending Christmas cards… what?? I know, so no cute family photos (or photo of the baby belly, this year!) so I normally handwrite about 10 to the grandmas and aunts and uncles who are spread all over the country, just so they know we are still alive.

I send out handwritten cards with tins of cookies. Now that my BF (soon to be fiancee) and I live together and have adopted dogs, I want to start sending pic. cards!

My kids refused to sit together this year so I got a separate picture of each of them and put a family picture from out trip to Florida on the back.

PLEASE Emmy Me (and mine)….
My husband has a way with words, but his timing is not always exact… so our letter usually ends up being a Happy New Year- and one year it was a Happy Valentines Letter… oh well- I’ve learned to stop feeling guilty and just appreciate Christmas instead of stress over it.
This year we had a professional family photo done- but I usually like to get a photo of my girls by a tree- in their PJs!

I have never actually sent out xmas cards, but I figure it’s never to late to start, and with the recession, I don’t know if i will be able to visit everyone I usually do, so xmas cards will help me feel a little less guilty.

Sadly, I normally don’t get around to sending holiday cards. I have good intentions but am an awful procrastinator!
I’d love to pose our dogs for a pic though, that would be cute and appropriate for my dog-crazy self. ;)

I am terrible about sending Christmas cards, and my husband is a graphic designer, so I really have no excuse. Its more the address collecting that overwhelms me, because we live far away from lots of family and friends.

We usually make sure to see everyone we love for Christmas, so we don’t feel the need for Christmas Cards… For the 1 or 2 friends that live so far away it makes impossible to travel there and back during the holidays, we usually send personalized cards with a-year-in-picture type of booklet.
Meagan K. says
“EMMY ME” I tend to send the traditional photocard. However, I worked with a woman a few years back who writes a poem every year and has it printed on customized paper that she orders from the paper shop we worked in. I have been luck enough to get her poems for the last two years and last year I was waiting for it and couldn’t wait to share the poem with friends and family!

I love love love sending Christmas cards out to friends and family. Usually we get a picture taken and slab it on there but I’ve gone a few times with store bought just out of pure laziness.

We try to send out cards that reflect our dual season celebrating (Hanukkah & Christmas). Until we had a baby, we’d just go with a mass produced card, but for the last 2 years, we’ve done photos cards with our son as the main event.
First year he was 7mo and we dressed him in a “Grandma’s Little Latke” onsie with a Santa hat. Last year he wore a reindeer sweater and his yarmulke. This year we’re sending e-cards to most folks and haven’t even figured out a photo yet – baby #2 is due in January and time is getting away from me!

For our Christmas Tradition, we usually send cards with a letter that updates everyone on our year. This year though, we’ll be doing something a little more exciting, as we’ll be announcing that I’m pregnant! That will sure be a shocker for everyone to open!

I step away from the usual x-mas photo and look back through our family photos from that year and select one or two to put into a photo card that we send out to family.

EMMY ME!!!!!!!!!!!!
Holy SMOKES what a good prize!!! Well I always swore that I would not do photo Christmas card of myself and the boyfriend until we were married (although we have been dating for over 6 years!) So I first started with just a photo of the dog in front of the Christmas tree with a bow on! But now that we have bought a house together this year our Chrsitmas card is a photo of us and our dog in a pile of leaves in front of our house, so it is serving as a Christmas card and a moving announcement!
I hate doing regular cards b/c I don’t like my hand writing! :) But I really dislike the typed brag letters that people send out! Boo!

EMMY ME:
And here’s why: I pretty much design and make everything I send out–wedding invites, Christmas cards, etc. It would be great to have someone else’s style and class to send!
As for Christmas traditions, my new husband and I created one that we’ve begun this Advent. We have slips of paper and a great old-looking latch box. At least once a day, we each write something that the other has done to teach us about generosity, love, patience, etc. (all the things that make a marriage great!). We keep them in the box, and on Christmas Day, we’re going to open them up and read them. We’re hoping to begin a longer-lasting part by putting 1 slip each in a book to add to each year (and with each child).
Thanks always!

So my chances of winning are slim (to none), but it’s always fun to enter. Unforturnately my husband and I aren’t big on sending out Christmas cards. With no kids at the moment (that’ll change next summer), we figure we can slide by. We do have the world’s cutest bulldog (slightly biased) that we will include a picture of in the cards we send to close family and friends. Yes, we are one of those couples.

we usually travel alot during the season (Thanksgiving – New Years).. so to cut down on the craziness, I typically send a Valentine Card instead of a traditional Holiday Card…its nice too since it doesnt get lost in all the other cards our family and friends receive during the holidays.

EMMY ME!!
I usually send a picture of the kids to those relatives that haven’t seen them in awhile. But the last several years I sent out cards that were of a theme interest to our kids. Like one year it was Santa working on an airplane since our son wants to be a pilot. This year however was different. We lost my dad on New Years Eve 2008, so it’s been a hard year and a difficult Holiday season. We enjoy the beach to renew and relax, so when we were there over labor day we drew a Christmas tree in the sand. We decorated the tree with sea shells we found, and then wrote Merry Christmas around it. We snapped a picture and this became our Christmas card this year. We also wrote a poem about cherishing those you love, trusting in God to guide you through, and always believing in your faith in Jesus. In our poem we also challenged those who receive it to make Jesus more a part of their Holiday season.

Emmy Me!!! I usually buy store bought cards and write a personal message in each card. The past year we wanted to take a picture of our family, but we did not do that and now it is looking like it won’t get done again this year. I would love this prize!!!

Here’s my typical holiday card routine. I begin by looking for something in the store, but decide that what I can afford isn’t very stylish and what I like is too expensive. Then I decide to make my own. I design the card, purchase all the supplies, update addresses and then get really busy with other Christmas preparations. Then when Christmas is over, I figure I’ll send them out for New Years and when that doesn’t happen, the guilt just builds. In the end, I just have a great supply of Christmas themed paper goods.
