***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

SEW ME!!!
I have no sewing skills, but have an interest. My latest endevour was to try to hem my babies curtains. Have the fabric and backing, but no sewing machine. This would be a wonderful Christmas for me :-)

Sew me!
I’d say I’m somewhere around a 3.5. I can usually make what I set out to make, but not without several mistakes, a seam ripper, and a few broken needles!
Tara says
SEW ME!
I think I am a 3, but honestly, all my experience was on my grandmothers old singer sewing machine and its been many years since I’ve made anything. Would love to pick it up again and teach my daughters!

Sew Me
I would say I am about an 8. I did the 4H sewing project from 3rd thru 12th grade and I still sew at the age of 33.
I also piece and quilt. I take after both my grandmothers!!
ryan says
SEW ME! I’m about a 1.5. I actually have been looking at buying a machine to up my sewing number since I have to get tons of stuff altered from being so short!
Evelyn says
SEW ME!
I am probably a 1. The only time I used a sewing machine was in high school.
Jill says
Sew me!
I am about a 2. All I’ve sewn are some simple winter coats for my pups. My mom, however, is an 11… and i would love to be able to give her this beautiful machine for Christmas! Growing up my mother sewed the most amazing clothes for me and my sisters, and some of the most creative Halloween costumes you’ve ever seen! The things she could do with this!

I’m probably a 1. I can sew a hole in my shirt but that’s about as far as i get. Not even buttons.
Lori says
Sew Me!
I’m a total zero, sewing related! Can’t wait to learn!
Karla says
SEW ME!
I haven’t sewed much since Home Economics in junior high…but I see a lot that I think I could do! Willing to give it a go again!
M says
SEW ME!
Pretty sure I’m a 0…returned the first machine I bought after getting too frustrated trying to learn to use. Definitely used no sew tape to create not only curtains but also throw pillow covers. When it comes to the stuff I’m a solid 8!
Kelsey D. says
SEW ME! I’m maybe a 1.5? I did some sewing projects on a machine, but only under the direction of my grandma. I think I would be pretty clueless on my own, but I so(sew?) want to learn!
Peter says
Sew Me! I give myself a 0. I can’t sew at all, but I know my wife would really like this.
Michelle White says
“SEW ME!” I’d say I’m right between you two! Don’t ask me to sew anything you want to be perfect, but I have hemmed a few curtains in my day…yup, I’ve got skills ;)
Annie says
SEW ME!
I sewed a thing or two in my time. I’m probably most proud of the pig with the elastic tail I made when I was 9. I’m desperate to have a machine of my own!
Sarah says
SEW ME!
I am a 3 after taking a beginners class…with ambitions of being a 10 one day!

SEW ME!
I’m probably a 6. I’m sort of a go big or go home kind of person who obviously loves a challenge. Aside from the normal Home Ec sew-a-bag project in junior high my first project was making a quilt for my then boyfriend about 6 years ago. It involved taking a tiny sports flag and blowing up the photo to the giant size I wanted, cutting the different fabrics, hand stiching them, and then finally quilting it all together on my mom’s old Singer machine. First sewing machine she had which her mother had passed to her. It’s a double-bed quilt. I also used the same machine to sew purses as gifts to my bridesmaids for the wedding with said boyfriend!
Needless to say I had my mom’s help and she’s a master sewer. I can’t even figure out how to turn the darn light on some times let alone thread the thing! This sewing machine would be fantastic – plus I’m Canadian so it’s one of the only giveaways that I could win!

SEW ME!
I would rank myself a 3. I’ve done some quilting and made the flower girl dress for my wedding.
Amy says
Sew Me!!!!
I am probably about a 6 on the sew scale. I can cobble together just about anything, but would love to be better/prettier at the details.
Hilary says
sew me! My machine is so old this would be quite an upgrade!
Lauracinindy says
Sew me! I’m a one for sure. Thank goodness for sew tape.
Felicia Fortes says
SEW ME!
I’m a 1. Tried to make a pillow case but couldn’t get a pillow inside it, cause it was stitches all around the edges…
Molly says
SEW ME! I’m a 1 aspiring to be 10! I’ve made my last two halloween costumes by hand, and now I’m hankering to try out a sewing machine. I’ve seen so many neat quilts, bags, repurposed clothes, etc. that I am just dying to try my hand at!
Jean says
SEW ME!
A two. Only because I had a home ec class in 7th grade.
Melissa says
SEW ME!!
I’m a 7-8. I know my stuff, but could still learn more. Unfortunately, my machine died :( and now I’m having withdrawals.
Jessica says
Sew Me!
I am a 2…but wanting to get better!!
Bryony says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a 5 or 6. If I bother to take my time, I’m not half bad. Admittedly, with serious help from a friend, I *did* sew both my junior and senior prom dresses back in high school.
Shelby says
SEW ME!
I’m definitely a 0 but would LOVE to learn how to be a 10, like my Grandma! :)
Jamie-Lee says
Sew Me! I can’t sew, but I’m hoping to learn. It’s on my early 2013 New Year’s Resolution list.
Andrea Fifhause says
Sew me! Lets say a 4 :)
Jessica says
SEW ME! I’m a 1 for sure, but my mom is a 5! I’m sure she’d be willing to teach me a thing or too! :-)
Hollie says
SEW ME! I am a novice sewer, but would live to get better.
Emily L says
Sew me! I sew all the time. I hope I’m good at it. ;)
Karina says
SEW ME!
I’m about a 3. I’m a total wannabe but I just haven’t spent the time to figure it all out yet!
Melissa says
Sew me! I can sew in a straight line, does that make me a 2? Would love to replace my grandma’s, then mom’s, and now my 1970’s Singer!
Pam says
SEW ME! I used to a 6 who couldn’t do a zipper without help. Now I’ve digressed to a 3 or less. :(
A new machine would be awesome!
Shelley says
“SEW ME!”
Most likely a 2, unless my 7th grade home ec class starts kicking in and pushes me to a 3.
Terese says
SEW ME! I’m a 4 on the scale. My mom would be a 10, so I’ve picked up some things over the years, but definitely not a master by any means. :)
Jessica says
SEW ME! I made pj pants in eight grade home education class… that probably puts me at a 2.
Cara says
I would say a 3!
I make a lot of baby gifts – burp rags/bibs. And a few pillows etc. But haven’t adventured much past that!
Becky says
SEW ME! Depending on the project, I range from a 6 to an 8. Clothes scare me, but I’m not too shabby at the crafty side of things.
Stacy says
SEW ME!
I would say I’m a 3 or 4. I know the basics and can usually figure simple things out, but if I get lost at all, there’s no coming back on my own.
Cindy says
Sew me…I am a 2. But this sewing machine would be a great excuse to begin the quilt project that was given to me!
Melanie says
Sew Me! I rank myself a 7! I have sewed so much that my machine broke this summer so a new machine would make my every Christmas wish come true!!!!
Jennifer says
SEW ME! My sister owned an alternations business which made me into a 3 at best as she does things for me!
gradgirl says
SEW ME!!! I’m a 1 for sure … can’t even sew on a button. But I’m hoping to learn to make simple curtain panels this winter!
Kara says
SEW ME!!!
I would say I’m a 3. I can definitely sew a straight line, but that’s about it!
Shannon says
SEW ME!
I have zero sewing skills – my mom’s a Home Ec teacher and has fulfilled all of my sewing needs for my entire life. I’ve now got the urge to learn to sew too! I have a great teacher ready to help me.
