***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

SEW ME
I’m probably a 3-4…I can make anything that doesn’t require a pattern or pleats :)
Erin S. says
Sew Me! I give myself a 5 because I have made two signature quilts and a t-shirt quilt for my Dad. Able to do basics, but not the sewing diva!
Lyndsey Matovich Cain says
SEW ME! I’m definitely a 1, but would love to learn!
Alison says
SEW ME!!! I would rank myself a 5…..have made some clothing for my daughter, and some small childrens quilts, but would love to learn more and be more comfortable with it. I’ve conquered invisible zippers recently, so I think I’m doing ok! :)

Sew Me!!
My high school 4-H sewing skills (along with my mom’s hand-me down 70’s era Kenmore machine) are probably somewhere at a 4. I can do what I need but attempt nothing fancy.

Erika says
SEW ME!
I would say my sewing skills are around a -3.75 but I have a 1 year old daughter so I’d like to learn to sew her a few dresses. :-)
Carolina says
SEW ME!!!!
I’m crafty (knit, cross-stitch, etc.) but when it comes to sewing I’m probably a 1 mostly because I don’t have a machine…So I’d love to get it!
Caren says
Sew me! I’m about a 0.5 on the sewing skills continuum, but have always wanted to learn! Also, I’m kinda short, so learning to hem pants would be awesome!
Gretchen says
Sew me!
I have a sewing machine on my Christmas list! I took a beginning sewing class this fall and can’t wait to put my skills (around a 3?) to the test!
Carly says
SEW ME!!
I’d probably rank myself a 2. I haven’t sewn much since high school home ec. but maybe it’s like riding a bike….?? My mom’s pro though, she made all our costumes growing up, including a look-through-the-netted-mouth peanut M&M (blue of course!)
Renee says

Katie says
SEW ME! I’m rating myself at a 0 :( womp womp! But this could change that!!!
Susan H says
Sew Me! I would place myself at a 3. I’ve sewn curtains and cushions but never anything complicated like clothing. I’m using/borrowing my mother’s 1970s Singer sewing machine and would LOVE this opportunity to have my own Singer that would hopefully last just as long!
Renee Hopkins says
I would say I’m a 3. I love sewing, but need a machine to get through bigger projects. I love me some fabric though, I have quite a collection already. Now if I could just finish one project before I start the next one..
Ashley says
SEW ME! Oh man, i’ve been wanting to buy one for so long! Anyway a 2 out of 10 only because i took a sewing class in High School!

SEW ME

hopflower says
SEW ME! Definitely I am learning to sew better and better . Just taken up a baby quilt the last couple of months or so. It is quite challenge, but so much fun. I bet I wold love to learn those 20+ stitches!
I think I am about a 5 or so in sewing. No blindfolds for me just yet.
Birgit says
SEW ME!!
About a four, but my mom and grandma are incredible seamstresses and I’d love to learn more (and have a lot to live up too!).
Laetitia says
SEW ME! PLEASE!! :)
I would say I am a three like Sherry, my bags do come out quite wonky most of the time, but that’s why I have dedicated myself to make more easy skirts that require much less precision than bags and little pouches and I need to broaden my collection! My machine is the cheapest you could find and she served me well, but as much as I love her (yes it’s a she) she does reach her limits quickly….. This would be the best Christmas gift EVER!!!
Kendra says
SEW ME!
I make a mean square pillow!
denise says
SEW ME!
I’d rank myself at a 7. I can do most anything with a pattern, but I still have a lot of the finer points to learn.
Erica says
Sew me! I’m likely a 1. Meaning I’ve sewed a button on under close supervision…I used my mom’s sewing machine once and I think I actually sewed the clothes I was wearing into the pillowcase. Or something like that, she swears. My mom on the other hand made her not only her OWN wedding dress but also the bridesmaid’s dresses, and since that was (many) years ago, she’s continued to shame the non-sewing me and made the dress that she wore to MY wedding. This machine would either be a wonderful gift for her or could allow me to cheat my way onto a more level playing field. Either way…
Shannon says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a 5…I love sewing and am pretty decent at it, considering I’m still using the super-cheap, basic sewing machine that was my husband’s and my first joint purchase :) I could definitely use an upgrade!
Holly says
SEW ME!!
I have never used a sewing machine, so I guess a 0. By hand I have made a few fun projects so maybe a 5? I so want to buy a machine and have been going back and forth for about a year on which one to get.
Laurie says
Sew Me! I am definitely a 1 but our new house needs a lot of curtains for its naked windows, so I would love to learn!
Marcy says
SEW ME! I would say that I am a 1, I can sew buttons on & fix holes by hand, but haven’t used a sewing machine since childhood. That being said, one of my life goals is to learn how to sew :)
Sarah says
Sew Me! I’d say I’m about a 6. I would love a new sewing machine to be able to take on more projects!
Megan Spittler says
Sew me! I’m a beginner, I have a sewing machine on my Christmas list!
mara says
SEW ME!
I’d say I’m about 5. I am good at realising my ideas for home goods & accessories. But I can’t sew clothes (I have tried…) and I’m in no way an accurate sewer, so yeah… a 5 :)
Suzanne Jones says
Sew Me! I’m an intermediate quilter and would love to have a Singer!
