***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

SEW ME!
I’m probably a 2. I would like to think that I could at least sew a straight line, but haven’t tried in MANY years. I would love to learn though and incidentally my 10 year old is asking for a sewing machine for Christmas. Sure would love to win this one for her!
Corinne says
SEW ME!
I’d say I’m a 1 only because there aren’t negative numbers in this.
Rudy says
SEW ME- I am a 1, but my wife is a 6 and would love this machine.
Kim says
Sew me!!! I’m about a 2…I can sew a sort of straight line. I can sew a nice pillowcase!
Susan K says
SEW ME!
I’m probably an 8 or 9…love to sew things by sight and make it up as I go along – clothes, curtains, whatever. And my sad machine really needs to be replaced!
Lisa says
SEW ME!
My skill ranks around 8. I do pretty darn good, except I lack in the time department. Always looking to learn new techniques!
Tracey says
SEW ME!
I am a 5. I dream of becoming a 10. With the help of the new machine I would be well on fulfilling my dream. Pick me, please?!
Shawn says
Sew Me! I’m definitely a 1…but am learning how to sew so I can save on hemming/alteration costs (I’m a petite so everything needs hemming!)
Anne says
SEW ME! I havent done much since jr highbut I want to learn again!!
Jo Kunzweiler says
Sew Me! I’d rank myself as a 5.
Erica says
SEW ME…I am definitely a beginner and would be a level 1.
Bethany Darragh says
SEW ME! I’m a 5, on my way to a 10 with a new machine. wink wink
Janice says
Sew me! I think I’d rank myself a 2 or 3. I took a sewing class in middle school and made myself a dress, but haven’t really sewed since (though, around that same time I also was doing cross-stitching and a little bit of crocheting).
Penny says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a 1, though I have used a machine once or twice. (Why do they make it so complicated to thread it?!) I have some fabric with a curling print (as in, the Olympic sport) that I was given years ago and I’ve been wanting to turn into pajama pants ever since.
Teri says
Sew me! I am a 2, I sewed a couple of times when I was little but would love to try again and make my way to a 5 or higher ;)
Elizabeth says
SEW ME!
I would say a 5…I love to sew and come up with fun ideas but with the older machine I have, it gets a little frustrating at times so projects take twice as long to finish.
Rosa says
Sew me! I am definitely a 3, and I have the misshapen bag to prove it. I’ve been fighting with the bobbin on my machine and would love a cooperative machine.
Beth says
Sew Me!
I would say I’m an 8 but my sewing machine is a 1.
Christy W says
SEW ME!! I’d say I’m a 1.5. Just beginning!
Natasha says
SEW ME!
If I’m a one I’m being generous. That’s why I need this, haha.
Beth says
SEW ME!!! I would LOVE this! I’m a beginner. Pillows and other straight lines.
Rebecca says
SEW ME!
I’m definitely a 1.5/2 on the sewing scale. I always wished I had learned from my grandma when I had the chance. A sewing machine would be the impetus to get me to learn how to sew and our house is in need of some serious curtains! This would be a big help!
Liz says
SEW ME!!
I would say I’m maybe a 4, but only because I took a beginner sewing class last year.
Kara says
SEW ME!
I’d give myself a 5 – My mom and grandmother taught me the basics, and I made my first quilt last year. Still have a longgggg way to go though!
Alicia says
SEW ME! I’d give myself a 3. Need a machine to get better ;-)
Holley says
Sew Me! I’m maybe a 2. I took a sewing class for very beginners last month, but I’m still hesitant to try to sew anything with my pretty fabric. Also, I have a super basic machine. Maybe a pimped-out sewing machine would make me feel like I could conquer the world!
Michelle says
SEW ME!
I’m like a minus 1. Wouldn’t even know where to start, but would love to learn!
Kelly says
SEW ME!
What would non-existent be??! But I’m really wanting to learn :)
Tara says
SEW ME!
All of the kids in my junior high took sewing in grade 8, so at one point in my life I was able to sew basic things like a sweater and a pair of pyjamas (complete with piping, which my teacher was impressed with). So maybe I’d consider myself a 5? It’s been years since I have done any sewing, partly because I need a sewing machine!
Jill says
Sew me. I’m a big zee-ro.
Kayla says
SEW ME!
I’d say I’m a 3-4 but I’d like to get better!
Natalie says
Sew Me! I’m about a 4-5. I can find my way around basic sewing projects, but still have a lot to learn! My sewing machine bit the dust this fall and a new one would be awesome!
Emily says
Sew me! I was going to say a 2…but if Sherry’s a 3, I think I’m back down in the 1 category.
Hayley says
SEW ME!!!!
I’m probably about a 7 on the sewing skill chart :-) I can sew from a pattern but my unpicker and I are def besties still.
Ps. YAY FOR AN INTERNATIONAL GIVEAWAY!
Let’s hope there’s an Aussie winner! ;-)
Jaybird says
Please SEW ME!!
I am a 10+ and sew some bit of time most every day.
Thank you
Dawn R. says
Sew me! 4
Lara says
SEW ME! Oh my gosh, I’ve been saving for a new machine and if I won…eeeek! My current one is from like 1789 and I have to open it up periodically and reattach a part that clunks off in the middle of sewing. Despite all that, I’d call myself a 5. I’m slowly acquiring new skills such as zippers, piping, and buttonholes. Slowly being the key word. With lots of You Tube videos to help along the way.
Thanks guys!

“SEW ME!”
About a 3 or so, I think. I’ve been dabbling for years but the past several months I’ve had the opportunity to make quite a few bags and stuffed animals for my girls. What a great machine!!
Faith says
SEW ME!
I am about a 9 1/2. I love sewing for fun. Right now I am working on cushions for a bench in my kitchen and I have been needing a new sewing machine for twenty years!!! My machine is from the dark ages….
Mandy Smith-Thompson says
SEW ME!
I am a 1 who desperately wants to learn :)
Marsha S says
SEW ME!!!
Jacqi Richardson says
SEW ME! I would LOVE to get the sewing skills of my mother, who, as a full-time mother, made curtains for her new house, beautiful dresses for us as little kids, pillows, quilts – you n name it. So with that, I’d have to say mine is a 2. I can fix buttons, somewhat fix hems and pulls, and once made a pair of boxers that barely fit over my leg in middle school in home ec. Oops.
Elizabeth says
SEW ME!
about a 4-5, I can make things, I don’t follow directions well.
Anamaria says
SEW ME!
I’m also probably a 3.
Rebecca says
SEW ME! I would say I’m about a five, I am working on a quilt right now and would love a new sewing machine!
Margaret says
“SEW ME!” Anywhere between a 4 and 7 depending on how easy to follow the pattern or if I’m winging it.
