After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Sew me!!! I would say a 5 but if I had a new fancy machine like this one I would bump to an 8! haha!
Alison says
SEW ME!
I think I’m a pretty solid 3 as well!
Anne says
sew me!
I am probably a 6. I can make a wonky quilt but can’t seem to read clothing patterns.
J says
Sew Me! I would say a 2. I would love to be at a 10 though!
Victoria C says
SEW ME!
I am probably somewhere between a 3 or 4. I used to sew alot more when I was a teenager and am a little rusty.
Ggigi says
Sew me!
I’m about a 5. I sewed slipcovers for my outdoor sofa, but they were pretty crooked!
Meg says
SEW ME!!!
I’d say I’m a 1… only because I’m TERRIFIED of using a sewing machine. Not to say I don’t want to–I do! I’m just not sure I could master it. Now, give me a needle, thread and a replacement button, and I can manage.
Stephanie says
SEW ME!
A 1 for sure. My grandma tried to teach me when I was little, but it did not go well. I would love to try again!
Carla P says
Sew Me! I’d rank with Sherry’s wonky bag at a 3!
Jess says
SEW ME! I am a beginner.
Bethp says
Sew me! I’m probably a 1, but eager to learn!
Shannon says
SEW ME! I’m a 1. But I’d love to be a 4 or 5 :) Just want to be able to do the basics, nothing fancy! (Way to be ambitious, eh??)
Katy says
SEW ME!!!
I would say that Im probably right there at 3 with Sherry. Maybe someday Ill be an expert seamstress….who knows!? Maybe I just need the right machine ;)
Ashley says
SEW ME!
Beginner for sure.
Linzy H says
SEW ME!
Definitely a 2-3. Not so good. I would love to win this so I could work on my skills. :)
lydia says
Sew me….I am about a 3. I am looking to enhance my skills.
Justine says
SEW ME! I would say I’m somewhere in the 7 range. Sewing is a hobby of mine, but I haven’t had any ‘lessons’ or anything, so I pretty much teach myself anything I need to learn with YouTube. I’m pretty decent, but have more to learn. I’m thinking about opening an Etsy store of sewn goods, so a non-beginner sewing machine would be great! (though I would need to do lots more YouTube videos)
Jessica says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a 2 – I can hem my jeans, but it takes me an entire day!
Tanja says
SEW ME! I am a 1, but I want to be better and I think owning my own sewing machine might help.
Melanie says
SEW ME!!! Sewing skills – 5. Know just enough to whip out some cute toddler skirts and curtains.
Kate T says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a 4, as I can almost completely hide the wonky stitching when I sew. My machine is currently broken in storage :(
So great to see an international giveaway as a loyal reader from Australia!
Ashley S. says
Sew Me!
I would say a around a 5. Depends on the project! :]
Alison says
SEW ME!
I’m probably around a 3 – I always wanted to know how, and then went CRAZY to be taught when I was pregnant with my 1st son. Now I’m pregnant with our second, and my first (who’s just a tad younger than Clara) is CRAZY about helping – he *must* sit in my lap when sewing, he drags me to the sewing machine (a basic one my grandma gave me) in the mornings saying “sew? sew? sew?), and is generally obsessed as we make Christmas projects:)
I’d be so excited to win, not that this will influence your randomness, but it *is* my 30th birthday this week!:)
Thanks for all your wonderful posts and giveaways, I love reading them!:)
~Alison

SEW ME!
I am a 1 for sure. I am way better at hand sewing and cross stitching than anything that involves a machine. Here is my most recent project involving a sewing machine http://a-can-do-attitude.blogspot.com/2011/11/christmas-present-more-than-year-in.html (notice it occurred more than a year ago).

SEW ME!
I’m probably about a 5. Just finished a duvet cover and curtains for the guest room. Nothing like making things custom. (cheated on the duvet, the closure is velco.)
Sam says
Sew me! 4+. I can cross stitch and do a decent job by hand. Would love a real machine!!
Ami L says
Sew Me! Right now I am a definite 1, but hoping with this fancy shmancy sewing machine to become a 10 ;)
Kelli says
SEW ME! I’m about a 4.5
Stephanie N says
SEW ME!
I have NO CLUE how to sew but I have a ton of Pinterest projects that require me to learn….but I have to get a sewing machine first. Maybe this would be the kick I needed to learn & start working on some projects!
Heather T. says
SEW ME!
I’m a 1. Definitely. I’ve never sewed before, but I so want to learn how. A pretty new machine sounds like the perfect motivation to me!
Jen says
Sew me (but not literally!)
I’d rank myself as maybe a 1 or 2, meaning I an sew a straight line and that’s about it. I would love to learn, though.
Christina P. says
Sew me! I’m probably a 5 or so. Been sewing my way outta the bag for the last few years. I can make simple garments, bags, pillows, no problem!
Lotte says
Sew me! I take sewing classes, but I’m still a 5 at best.
melissa says
sew me too. i’ve got a bottom of the line machine, and i’m probably a 6 or 7 on the sewing continuum hoping that a better machine would kick me up to an 8.
Mary says
SEW ME! I would say I’m a 5 but looking to get better! Love making things for my family and my kiddo…
Whitney says
SEW ME! I’d say I’m a 3-4. Not awesome, but can hold my own… a little.
Becky says
SEW ME!! Definitely a 1 or 2, but want to learn with my daughter.
Molly says
SEW ME! I’m a 1, but this would inspire me to become more of a 2 :)
kim says
“SEW ME!”

Dave says
Sew Me. Though I admit it sounds a little painful
chrissta says
SEW ME! Definitely a 1. I would love to be able to do simple sewing projects around the house and my mom is a pro, so I’d love to learn from her.
Jody says
SEW ME!
What’s slightly above non-existent? That’s me :) I keep trying but needless to say my sewing projects are never viewed as anything more than a money/time Pitt.
Claire says
Sew Me! I used to make purses for my friends in middle school, but i never quite made it all the way through clothing patterns. I’ll give myself a 4. I would love to have a sewing machine of my own!
Jane says
SEW ME! My mom taught me to sew when I was very young. I’ve done a dress, an apron, a couple of pillows. I’d love to get back into it!
Stephanie says
SEW ME!
Probably a 3. Sewing usually ends up with me and tears of frustration.
Cyn says
Sew Me! I can’t sew a straight line to save my life.
Kelli from LittleCottageOfMine says
Sew me!
My mom is a great seamstress and I well…am not. But I can get the hand of it!
Mary B says
SEW ME! I’m a 1 on the machine and a 2 or 3 with hand-sewing… I blame home ec.
Tess S. says
SEW ME! I’d say I’m a 2, maybe a 3 on a good day, but auto threading sounds awesome. I’m using a 60’s model singer and it still works and I’m grateful, but something with different stitches and beautiful, retro lines sounds pretty good right about now.
