***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Sew me! I’m about a 7 or 8. I’ve made ren-fair costumes and sewing is a part of my job! Lol!
Jody Purificati says
I never attemp any of these giveaways but this one is “sew me”.
I am about a 2.5. Just learning and when I read about Sherry’s
frustrations with oh Brother I nearly peed my pant laughing. I could so relate to her sewing misfortunes. I keep trying but I have a strong feeling my mom is not crazy about me using her machine. My own would help me sling my journey to figure out this seeing stuff! :)

SEW ME!
I am probably a 2. Can sew a straight seam and had some lessons a long time ago. Don’t have a sewing machine, so would love this.
Kirsten says
SEW ME! I am a 2 or 3, but I’ve always wanted to learn more.

SEW ME
I would say I’m probably a 4 or 5. I used to have a super old singer but between moving multiple times and a brand new puppy knocking it off the table (still not sure how he managed that one) it was broken. I’ve been begging for a new one for over a year now! Thanks for the opportunity!
Crossing my fingers!

Sew me!!
I’d say I’m a 6 :)
Mary B says
sew me! i’m a 1 on the machine and maybe a 2 or 3 with hand sewing… I blame home ec.
Mary B says
oops, double-entered!
Gretchen says
SEW ME!!!
I’m a 1…i can manually sew a button and that’s about it. I can use stitch witch….does that count? no? Ok, for sure a 1.
Tamara says
SEW ME!
I am definitely a 1, but would love to become a 2 very soon.
Kathy B says
Sew Me! I’m probably a 4. I used to be better at it than I am now, which is somewhat problematic since I still choose my projects based on my old skill level :)
Jessica Howe says
SEW ME!
Jenny says
SEW ME!
I am definitely a 2 – with potential… :) And eager to learn & practice! Would love to try so many different projects, but the lack of the sewing machine is always an issue. This would be awesome!
Laura says
SEW ME!!
I am a 1 or below sewer. I could probably plug the unit into the wall, and find the “on” switch, but the rest would be a crapshoot. But I want to learn, badly.

I’m probably a 2 but I’m desperate to move my way up in the ranks!!
Karyn says
Sew me! I’d rank myself at a -2 but I really want to take official lessons to learn.

A 1. I can hand sew, but haven’t touched a sewing machine since junior high.
Hannah says
SEW ME!
I would say I am around a 3 too! I can sew some simple things, but don’t set the expectation too high!
Lisa says
SEW ME!!! I am a 2 thanks to some junior high home ec. I made a drawstring bag! I would love to use this to make all kinds of stuff for our family. I have had a machine on my wishlist for years but I guess no one takes me seriously!
Carol says
Sew me!! So I can go from a 1 to possibly a 2.
Megan says
SEW ME!!!
I’m probably around a 7 or 8! I can sew pretty much anything but I still have lots to learn!

SEW ME!
I would love to rank myself a 10–I can and will try to sew anything–I’ve been sewing most of my life and have made everything from stage costumes to upholstery to quilts, make most of my clothing….but I am not so much of a perfectionist as I used to be…now I mostly sew for pleasure–I find it very relaxing and theraputic. So I will say maybe a 9 now. 10 on the willingess to try to make anything sewing-wise!
Kate H says
SEW ME!
I’m definitely a 1. But I’ve watch my mom and nana in awe for years. I’ve always wanted to carry on the tradition but couldn’t afford the investment! Here’s hoping to a new hobby!

“SEW ME”
I JUST finished my Intro to Sewing class. And by JUST, I mean this morning. So, I’m hoping that means I’m destined to win that bad boy. Currently I’m about a 3.5 on the scale, but if I won I KNOW I could work hard enough to get that up to a solid 4.2.
Angelica says
SEW ME!!!
I would have to say I’m about a 3! My MIL has been teaching me on her sewing machine…so I would LOVE to have my own!!
Mahareen says
Sew me! I think I’m probably a 4…but I used to be a 6 maybe in high school when I could borrow my aunt’s sewing machine whenever I wanted. I made my own prom dress from a pattern! But have not sewn a stitch since then, hope to get back into it :)
holly says
SEW ME! I am probably a 1 but my husband is closer to a 7. I’m super impressed at his skills; I think he has more patience than I do but I would love to get better at it! :)

SEW ME!
I’d say a 5. My mom made me take sewing in high school when I wanted to take art, she was probably right…I have sewn some pretty cool costumes for my boys & pillows for the house. Pretty simple stuff.
Mary says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a brave/reckless 3. I took a quarter of sewing in middle school. (Public school, and I swear I’m your age.) We learned to sew straight lines and not much else but that hasn’t stopped me from undertaking some pretty ambitious sewing projects over the years. They all turned out about as well as you’d expect. I think the only one that turned out ok was the kimono I sewed for a school play. You know what a kimono has? Only straight lines!
Alison says
Sew me! I’m a 2, this would *sew* perfect to teach my 3 homeschooled kids how to be better than me!
Kesley says
SEW ME!
I’d say I’m about a 3 or 4. I made some pajama pants in jr. high but I definitely need a refresher course!
Tami o says
SEW ME! I would say a 5 or 6, i can sew pretty much anything with a pattern, but, I’m not super great at improvising!
Amanda J. says
SEW ME!!!
I guess I’d be a 9 on your scale ;). I can sew a bag from scratch, but not blindfolded! My dad taught me to use my mom’s old Fleetwood sewing machine when I was 6 because I wanted my mom to make more clothes for my dolls. So then I sewed them myself! Through the years I’ve made lots of clothes. The more complicated the better. I don’t like to sew in a straight line! I’d LOVE to win this machine! Thank you so much for the opportunity!!!
Rebecca says
Sew me!
I’m a 0! I’ve never sewed anything in my life but you gotta start somewhere!
Katrina says
SEW ME!
I’m a three and I am sure my mom would love if I stopped stealing her machine in order to try to improve me skills.
Amanda S. says
SEW ME! Probably a four- I can make some things, but not the fancy stuff. :)
Susan in Colorado says
SEW ME!!! Probably a 2 since I took sewing in high school, but I really should say a big fat 0.. LOL

SEW ME!
I am a 2. My husband, however, is a 6. He uses his Grandma’s 1937 Singer to sew car upholstry. He would LOVE a new one!

SEW ME!
I would say I am a 3 or a 4. I can make curtains or anything with a straight line but nothing fancy!
Kate says
Sew me! I’m a 2. I can sew buttons back on shirts, but that’s about it. I want to learn!
Sally says
SEW ME!
I would rank myself a 3 but I am going to blame my old sewing machine. If it could do more like this one, I could make my way up to a 5, I’m sure!
pam says
sew me!
i’m such a 1. i haven’t sewed anything in years, but come 2013, i plan to sew up a storm…
Michelle says
SEW ME! I’m about a 4 or 5. I can make (simple) clothing by following a pattern, but not without a lot of naughty mumbled words and lots of seam ripping of my mistakes.
Kristen says
Sew me….can a negative number count?
Joseph says
SEW ME!
Definitely a 1.
Josie says
Sew me!
I am about a 3. I can make everyone pj bottoms and wonky wallets.

Definitely on the lower end of the scale but looks like this machine could teach me a thing or two :)
Zinna says
SEW ME!
I’d give myself an 8. I don’t know if I can come up with a sewing pattern on my own but give me a pattern and I can sew anything from an elaborate dress to slacks.
Jessica says
SEW ME! I haven’t sewn much more than a button back on since 8th grade home ec, so I’m probably a 1.
