***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

SEW ME! I’m definitely a 1… but it’s something I would love to change!
Nicki Parrish says
SEW ME! I am embarrassed to admit that I can’t even sew on a button! My husband has to do it! LOL! But I really want to learn to do that and do a little woodworking.
Barb Wells says
SEW ME!
Please! Love your blog, check it every day. I used to sew all my clothes when I was in school (in the dark ages…late 60’s). Now I want to get back into it with grandaughters. I probably got up to about a #6.

SEW ME!
I was a 0 last year, but this year I’m probably not quite a 1 :) How sad is that? At least now I know what a bobbin is though…
Linda says
SEW ME!
Probably a negative number, but would be a great skill to learn – and having good tools can make all the difference, I’ve found!
Claire says
SEW ME!
Maybe like a 4 or a 5 once someone threads the bobbin for me…
Beth says
SEW ME!
I give myself a solid “5” for sewing skills. I took a home-ec class in high school, so I could probably use a few more lessons. But I’ve taught myself to sew quite a few things: hidden tab top curtains, envelope enclosure pillow covers, patch jobs for our hole-y clothes, and sewed a love-y blanket for our last baby. Next, I want to tackle a quilt for our boys’ room. I’ve borrowed/stolen my mom’s old sewing machine, and I’m sure she’d love to have it back!
Maidless Wonder says
Sew me!
I guess an 8-9. I’ve been sewing for 16 years and man has it made my budget stretch over the years!
My 13 year old machine has a bad crack in it and I would LOVE to win ths machine! Thanks for the opportunity.
Michelle says
sew me!
i am definitely at a 1 or 2
Brittany H says
SEW SIMPLE!!
SOOO simple?? I would rate myself as a solid 6! While I can tackle some projects…more difficult stuff makes me confussed! The things I have tried have turned out….ok! and sometimes amazing! its touch and go. hahaha
Brynne says
SEW ME! I’d say I’m maybe a 3.5? But I’m so intimidated by the darn things (sewing machines) that I usually reach for a needle and thread or hot glue or hemming tape before making plans to borrow my mom’s!
Kathryn says
SEW ME!
I’d say I’m about a 2 on the sewing continuum, but I would definitely work my way up to a 10 if I won this giveaway :)
Gennie N. says
SEW ME! Maybe a a 3. I can use my machine but don’t know how to use a pattern.
Nicole says
SEW ME!
Probably a 2— I can fix my clothes but following a pattern or fancy stitches is probably a no go.
Kiki says
SEW ME
I would say that I am a 1, but I would love to learn.
Jaclyn says
SEW ME!!
I would say I’m a 7.5. I just got a sewing machine last Christmas, but I was able to complete a whole quilt this past summer. It still has a mind of it’s own sometimes!
Madison says
SEW ME! I would probably rank myself as a 4 or 5.
Denise says
Sew me…
I’m due for a new machine, and this would be wonderful. Not that having a brand new machine would get me higher than a 4 of 10, but it would at least allow me to do some extra stuff without cursing at the pedal. :o)
Elise says
SEW ME!
I’ve learned a lot but still have a long ways to go!
Danielle says
SEW ME!!!
I’d say I’m sitting around a 5. I can follow patterns kinda well and have made a blanket or two…and I’m in love with that Singer. Swoon.
CourtneyFrantz says
SEW ME!! I would probably rank myself at a solid 3. So much to learn.
Deena says
SEW ME!
I am definitely a one, I can sew really crooked straight lines! This would be amazing to have to learn on.
Michaela says
SEW ME! I am probably a 5. I can sew clothes that won’t fall off of you or fall apart in the washer. I’d say that’s worth something.
Amanda Brady says
SEW ME!
I have been wanting to learn for years! I see myself making some kick ass tea towels and who knows maybe even pillows!
Urban Wife says
SEW ME!
I’m probably between a 3 and 5. ;)
Also, I need a sewing machine because I just paid $32 for an alteration on a dress that costs me $13. Ugh!
Meredith says
SEW ME!
I’d rank myself as a 6. I took a couple of clothing construction classes in college, but I ended up loving to quilt. Right now I’m making stockings for our little family of three on a Brother machine from 1960. It does the job, but I brand new sewing machine would be much appreciated! :)
Michelle says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a bout a 3 as well. I’ve never sewn anything with a pattern, but have managed to make a couple simple slipcovers (for square shaped things), curtains, pillows, etc.
Lauren says
SEW ME!
I’m definitely a 1 — I’ve never used a sewing machine and I can only sew on buttons — but would love to be able to make pillows, hem my own pants, and whatever else a sewing machine could help me make.
Terry says
SEW ME!
I am definitely a 1 but I would love to get better. This sewing machine would be fantastic!!!!
Thais says
SEW ME!!!
Is it OK to rate myself at 0? I can sew a button… if that counts :)! I’d love to learn how to sew… and I’m sure this loooovely machine would be a great motivation!
I love your blog and follow you from far away… in Spain! Will you come and house-crash anytime soon? I’d love it!!!
Lisa Brooks says
SEW ME!
I would rank myself a 7.
Love to quilt, make bags, curtains and other small projects for the home.
Katie C. says
sew me!
I’m something like a 3-4 with aspirations for 8. This basically means I get impatient and start making things crooked but at the end of the day decide I don’t care as long as my clothes don’t fall apart or something unfortunate like that.
Kelly B. says
SEW ME!! I am a 1-2! I have a little experience, but would love the practice!!
Debbie says
SEW ME! I’m a decent hand sewer but I never learned how to use a machine. I’ve been eying them up every time I go to the fabric store.
Heather J. says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a 1, realistically. I can sew on a button, but I am dying to learn how to make my own duvet covers, curtains, blankets, etc.
Sarah says
SEW ME!
I’d rate myself at a 3.5. I’ve made some decent dog beds in my prime.
Mallory says
Sew Me! I am definitely a one, but have aspirations of reaching the status of 3 or 4 or even 5 one day. I figure this would help me get there :)
Brittney says
SEW ME~!
Victoria says
SEW ME!
I would say about a 2. It has been years since I have actually sewed anything. In my teenage years I made pj’s and boxer shorts in a class but since then I have not touched a sewing machine. I have a dream that I will sew once again!
Melinda says
SEW ME!
Maybe a 3? I sewed something once in Girl Scouts, but it’s been a few years since then. lol
Natalie says
SEW ME! I would rank myself a 0.5 but I would love to be at least a 4!!
Whitney says
Sew me ! I’m about a 2 I can make a mean throw pillow cover and that’s about it:)
Kim says
SEW ME! I’m like a negative 2, but have aspirations. Would LOVE to learn!
Haley Wolfe says
SEW ME! I am a…1.5! The women in my family are excellent (my sister made my wedding dress!)and I would love to have a hint of their mad skills in my bag of tricks :)
Rachel says
SEW ME!
I had to complete a ‘Sewing Machine Driving Licence’ at school so must be at least a 3. However i’d love to have a machine to practice on so I could make the bunting for the sun room, a christmas tree skirt, hem my own trousers…
Ellen says
SEW ME!!! I’m a solid 2…3 if I’m feeling generous.
After seeing the pouf Sherry made for Clara during one of the Pinterest challenges, I’d say she’s at least a 5! ;) I was so impressed with that!
Kristen says
Sew me! I’m a zero out of ten! Always wanted to get into it but wanted a good machine to get started on!
Sarah says
SEW ME!
I’m a 4, because I HAVE made a wonky bag! Congratulations to the janky sewers out there, myself included. SLOW CLAP! Let us unite in our forever-beginning sewing stage!
Begen says
SEW ME!
Am definitely a 1. As a little girl I LOVED sewing, until I was trying to thread the needle and left my foot on the peddle and BAM needle through my nail! I keep saying I’d try again and started a cot quilt project… but have yet to finish because I actually don’t own a sewing machine, was going to borrow one.
Lynne Tretow says
SEW ME!!
I am currently a 1 have sewn in the past but have not done so in so long it would take me awhile to retrieve my skills. I have never owned a sewing machine.
