***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

SEW ME!!
I’m probably about a 7 or 8. My sewing machine is a basic old hand-me-down from my mom, but I have managed to squeak out some curtains and various other craft projects. It’s just about on its last legs, though. :)
Andrea says
SEW ME!
Ummm…are there negative numbers? I don’t sew at all but I have been looking into taking lessons!
Sari Wallace says
SEW ME!
I rank around a 2 and would appreciate winning a sewing machine that won’t get me all tangled up – maybe I could aspire to becoming a 10! Thanks for the international give-away.
Sheela says
SEW ME! I’d rate myself around a 5 on the sewing skills spectrum – I can sew nice bags, purses, pillows, and some basic clothes for the kids. I can also make some cute stuffed animals. Thanks for the giveaway!
Jen says
SEW ME! I’m a 1 but have dreams of learning to sew. They’re just so expensive that I can’t bring myself to buy one without knowing that 1- I can be self taught and 2- that I’ll get my money out of it. I’d love to win one… it would solve both of those barriers! :)
Kori says
SEW ME! I am a absolutely a 1! I recall sewing pillows 15 years ago in high school. Mine was crooked. We are gearing up to put together a nursery! I would love to make some things for the baby!
Gina says
SEW ME PLEASE!!
I’m probably a 3. Took sewing in Home Ec eons ago (showing my age as I dont believe thats taught these days) and had to make an outfit..Ha! Most of my “sewing” lately has been with fusible webbing since after borrowing my mom’s 30+ year old Singer that’s so gummed up the straight stitch looks more like zig zag. Refurbishing would probably be more costly than a new “One”. SEW ME!!
Bethany says
SEW ME! I am definitely a 5. I have a long way to go but my favorite things to sew are curtains and Christmas tree skirts.
Rutledge says
Sew Me!
I’m probably around a 7. Way way way out of practice on pattern usage but I can wing it and whip up all sorts of stuff including an operable cloth diaper.
I have had my first and only sewing machine, a Singer, 20+ years now! My mom and aunt gave it to me for Christmas when I was 14 or 15. It still works and I will never get rid of it but a new one would be fab.
Minette says
SEW ME! I can sew on a button and that’s about it. But I want to learn!
Connie says
A new sewing machine…that’s “sew me!” I’m about a 6 on the scale of expertise. My latest project has been making those game day dresses for my college student daughter (& others) with just my 1986 model machine & my good looks (haha!)–no pattern, per se–just winging it, and they’ve turned out great! I’ve even learned how to do a blind hem stitch on the machine.
Janelle says
Sew Me!! I would say I’m a 2 on a good day. I used to do a little sewing in 4-H, and have wanted to get back into it.
Abby says
SEW ME! I’m a 1 who aspires to be a 10!
Ashley says

Love love love this giveaway! I would say I’m about a 4. I love sewing but have only been doing it for about 2 years but I love learning how to make things!
Rebecca says
SEW ME!
I’m about a 4. I used to sew a lot and have gotten back into it lately sewing curtains for our new condo. I’m using my mother’s nearly 50-year-old machine!
Virginia Salo says
SEW ME!!!
I’m maybe around a 3. I sewed some table runners for my sister’s wedding last summer, but those were all straight lines.
Holly says
SEW ME!!! PLEASE!
This is awesome. I’m definately a 3 or so on the scale, but I love to sew around the holidays. I would put this to good use.
Miriam says
Sew me!
I’m a 4? Love your blog!
carrie says
my sewing skills are somewhere past putting in a zipper but somewhere short of sewing tailored clothing that actually fits. Sew me…….
Julia says
SEW ME! I’d probably say around a 7. I could make something from directions, but couldn’t guarantee it to be perfect!
Julie H says
SEW ME!!
I’m certain that I’m a 0. But I would at least like to graduate to a 2!
Marissa says
SEW ME!
Definitely a 3.5. I always end up messing up the thread at some point, but things always seem to work themselves out in the end.
Rochelle New says
SEW ME! I’m a pretty experienced seamstress. I can make a wonky bag and clothing. So maybe I’m a 6?
Darcie says
“SEW ME!” I’d say I’m a 5. Just finished up a toddler quilt for my daughter.
Erin says
SEW ME!!
Would love a sewing machine so my mom could teach me to sew! Definitely a -1 right now.
Amy B says
sew me! I’m a 4. I have made some pretty nice little fabric baskets for my son’s room, but only by having my laptop right beside the sewing machine. What would I do without you, internet?
Jill says
SEW ME!! I’m maybe a 6, but wish I was an 8! I don’t think I have 10 in me :-) Thanks for hosting this giveaway!
Amy S. says
SEW ME! I’m probably a 5, I can get by if I set my mind to it~
Katherine says
SEW ME!
I haven’t sewn in years but sewed a ton in high school. I’ll assume most of it will come back to me so I’ll give myself a 5.
Lori says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a 3. I’ve made pillows, halloween costumes, and that’s about it!
Blair says
Sew me! I would say I’m not even a 1, my sewing skills are at 0! But I’ve always wanted to learn and winning this would be a good reason to learn!!
Megan says
SEW ME!
I’d say I’m about a three. I took a sewing class back in high school and though I’ve forgotten most of my skills, I could still probably sew a few simple items. And YAY for international giveaways- I’d love to have this in my new home in Australia!!
Emily says
SEWN ME! I’m maybe a 2. I’m quite good in my mind, but the application aspect is lacking.
Gwen says
Sew Me!! Sadly I would have to go with a 1. I can hand-stitch in an emergency but have never used a sewing machine!
Catherine Reynolds says
SEW ME! I used to be a 2, now a proud 3 (thanks to Mam for insisting I hem my skirt that i had to make for craft class when I was 12. I hated hemming so she had agreed to do it but changed her mind after she caught me saying really mean things to my younger brother’s friend. It was possibly the worst punishment of my life at the time but I’m grateful now lol)
Mel says
SEW ME!
I’d put myself around a 6-7. Not up to professional snuff, but I make a mean messenger bag.
Deb@asimplelifequilts says
SEW ME!!!
I’m a 7 I’d say. Thanks for a chance!
gina w. says
Sew Me! I’m a solid SEVEN! I just sewed our Christmas stockings, love to sew purses, etc. My machine is the $100 Singer I got before I knew if I’d sew or not. Turns out I SEW! Would love this!
Nikki Ehlers says
Sew-Me! I’m probably a 7, but slightly rusty. I have bought a home to retire into in a about a year. Lots of windows that will need drapes. That Singer would surely help me get on that!
Kerry says
SEW ME!
I am definitely of the wonky bag making variety. Yeah, $herdog!
Brooke R says
Sew Me! I would say my sewing skills are a 4. I can sew ANYTHING that only requires a straight line. :)
Cari says
2: I once sewed a dog crate cover; my dog is now afraid of said crate. I “have been in the process of sewing” Christmas stockings since 2007…so I recently sold old machine :(
Cari says

rachel says
sew meeee!!
2. I think I could turn it on, but would probably need help getting thread going (is a bobber something sewing related??) but i think i could actually get a straight line sewed if necessary…
Emily says
SEW ME!
I’m. 1.56. For sure.
Melody says
SEW ME! Definitely can’t sew my way out of a paper bag, but I have wanted to learn how for the longest time!
Alisha says
Sew Me!
I thought I was a solid 5 or 6 [never followed an official pattern, but managed to create some fun purses, patchwork skirts, & tie skirts over the years] but after skimming previous entries I’m starting to doubt optimism. I mean I’ve avoided sewing a buttonhole for the past 13 years, after all. Maybe a 4?
christen says

Rachel Waite says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a 3 but want to do more sewing. Made myself an awesome Santa cape for my Santa party last weekend ;)
Kristin says
Sew Me! I would rank myself as a 2. I can fix a button or hem, but that’s about it!
Star says
SEW ME!
I would say I’m about a 3 on the sewing scale.
