***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

SEW ME! I could so use a sewing machine that threads the needle for me. My eyes aren’t what they used to be. My sewing level? Curtains and pillow cases are my go-to projects. Please don’t ask me to make you a shirt. I’m great with Ikea directions, but sewing patterns leave me numb!

I used to be a 7 maybe, but am on a sliding scale, sliding down to a 4? I’ll be a 3 soon ..

I started making my own clothing since I was about 11 without any patterns and fabric from Goodwill! Later I made all my kids clothing, good times… My daughter is showing interest in sewing as well. We’ll see…

I think I’d probably be about an 8 or a 9. I’ve been seriously sewing since I was about 14. I’ve sewn everything from new hems on pants, to elaborate costumes with corsets and other crazy details. I even make some of my own clothes on occasion! I love sewing, it’s so therapeutic.

I think I’m a 2. I once made a bag in a textiles class at school – and it wasn’t wonky. That’s as far as I’ve gone though.
Anna says
SEW ME!
Actually I don’t really want you to sew me…. sounds painful. Anyway, I think I’m around a 3.

This giveaway is SEW ME! I’m a little rusty… sewed all of the nursery pieces for my son’s nursery, who is now 23 years old! Sewed a “styling” outfit in high school, and actually wore it …lol looking back! Thanks for the love!
Sandy C. says
Bonus answer… maybe a 4 these days!
shanna gilbert says
I am a one for sure, but I would love to learn!

I am probably about a 5 – 6. I can sew and know how to follow quilting patterns but anything else and I’m like a fish out of water. I am working on sewing more though during school holidays (I am teacher).
Virginia says
Sew me!
I would say I’m a 1 with a machine and a 3 with hand sewing… I’m about to start a quilting project, though, so I’m praying I get up to speed on sewing machines quickly!
Liz m says
Sew me… Probably a solid 2
Christine says
SEW ME! I guess I would consider myself a 5. I enjoy sewing and can follow a pattern usually. I currently would like to try my hand at a t-shirt quilt and definitely need a sewing machine upgrade! Thanks!
Beth says
Sew Me!
I will call myself a 3, I don’t know if I could sew a wonky bag but I can sew a button back on or repair a ripped seam. I used to be more of a 7, pillows, dresses, etc but it have been so long, I wouldn’t know where to start.
Claire says
SEW ME!
Given your qualifiers, I’d say I’m about a 2. I made a stocking once, but it was rather wonky.

SEW ME! I am a -5 and come from a mother and grandmother that are amazing on the sewing machine. Please help me make them proud random.org!

I’m a 1 . I’d love to learn and be a respectable 3 some day :)
Ashley says
Sew Me… I’m probably a 6. I keep winging it on various projects and tell people that I have n ida what I’m doing but the number of projects completed so far make me realize I finally may have some clue what I’m doing :)

SEW ME! I’m a 0 for sure…but we are having a baby soon and I’d love to be able to sew some things for his or her room!

0- I am a stay at home mom who knows absolutely zilch about sewing. But I totally want to learn.
Alicia says
SEW ME! I’m probably a 3 right now, but back in middle school I took the advanced sewing class. Aw yeah! Haven’t really sewn much since, as I don’t have my own machine. If only I had a sewing machine…
Jennifer says
SEW ME!
My skill set is a definite 1. I would definitely like to learn though. So many cute things waiting to be made!
Ashley F says
SEW ME!
On an average day I would say I’m a 3…..I can sew pillows, cutains etc but anything past a straight line is beyond my skills.
I once made baby quilt and it turned out great……butttt it took me considerably more time then the pattern suggested haha
Dara Jarvis says
SEW ME!!! I guess I would say I am a 3 – I have sewn pillows and curtains and that is the extent of my skills but I would love to do more. My sewing machine stinks and I could definitely use a new one.
Lauren C says
sew me 3
Hillary says
SEW ME!
I am definitely a 3 like Sherry, but I would like to think that the wonky bag is partly caused by my 1940s sewing machine. Looks beautiful, but constantly breaks, and can never be fixed 100%.

Sew me! I’m maybe a five(?) Sewing surgeon’s scrubs for my son to wear to school on book character day took me all night! But they fit and looked okay.
Chrissy says
SEW ME!!!
Weeeeellllll…on a machine I am probably a -5….I have made two things in my life and one of them was a perfect stocking for my middle son and the other was a blanket in Home Ec in the 1980’s. lol I don’t even know how to thread one. I can sorta embroider, though and my buttons that I sew on are ROCK STAR.
Erin Van Heuveln says
SEW ME!
I’d rate myself at a 4. I have made curtains, pillows and a bedskirt without a pattern. And I am starting to dabble at some cute summer dresses for my daughter.
julia says

i’d say i’m probably a 3 on the sewing scale & would probably just use it for straight lines (ie, hemming pants or curtains)!

SEW ME! A cheerful ‘hello’ from Germany. I’ve sewn a bit over the years, anything from purses, bags, skirts to quilts and pillow cases. It might not be a straight seam in the end, but I can sew my way around – so I’m probably a 5. ;-)
Grace says
SEW ME!
I would have to say with intentions and dreams of all the awesome things I could sew, I am a 5! In terms of action, probably a 0. I have many sewing books, patterns and fabrics, but zero project to show for it!:(
I am hoping my newfound “get on it” that I have applied to some other crafting projects will eventually translate over into sewing, too!
kristin says
SEW ME!
I’m around a 5. I CAN do it, but I lack patience and avoid learning anything new until it becomes evident that I HAVE to.

SEW ME : )
I am definitely a 1 but I have big dreams of being a 10!!
Abby C says
SEW ME! I am supposed to have sewing skills – my mom used to make wedding dresses. I was pretty good at sewing way back in 9th grade but I haven’t touched a machine since then! If I don’t win this though, I’ll be asking Santa for one :-)
Elizabeth says
Sew Me!!! I am so excited about this giveaway! I am a 3 I think. Its been a long time since I have had a sewing machine to work with.

Brianna says
SEW ME!
I am a 1 with aspirations to be a 10!
Anna says
Sew Me! I’m probably a 4.5. My ten dollar garage sale Singer is being less than kind to me…perhaps a fancy new machine would turn me into a 5.5!
Mioumi says
Hello,
The actual part of sewing is to me the least awesome part of making things yourself, but i’m addicted to fabric, (i hoard, what… So, SEW ME!) and you can’t just keep it in a dresser, you got to do stuff with it, so i sew, or at least i try. I’m sure it has to do with the fact that i use a machine that could guest star on the antique Road show! I would love a new machine to go from a 3 to … the sky is the limit!
