***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Sew Me!
I’m definitely a 1. Keep saying I’m going to learn, but am so intimidated!! Maybe this machine would be my catalyst!
Karmina says
Sew me!! I’m probably a 2, I can make pillow cases and aprons.
Allison B. says
SEW ME!
Definitely a 1 on a machine but am a whiz with a needle and thread when I have to sew on a button. Definitely hoping to up my game and be able to sew some throw pillows.
Adrienne says
SEW ME
I’d say I’m a 3. I conquered a king size rag quilt this summer.
And that felt pretty awesome.
Laurel says
SEW ME!
On the scale, I’d say Sherry’s way higher than a 3!! I’d say I’m a 2-3, I can handsew, but I’ve never had the opportunity to try a machine! Now with a little one in the house, I feel a compulsion to make costumes and quilts!! :)
Kim S. says
SEW ME!
5, just ok. I can sew a straight line so I’ve sewn curtains and that it all.
Amy A says
SEW ME!
I’m definitely a 1, but I have high aspirations (and a Pinterest board full of inspiration) to become a 3!
Sara says
Sew Me! I’ll say a 3…but I bet this machine would turn me into a 9!!
Kristle says
SEW ME!!!
I’m a definite 1 and I wish I were better. Knowing how to sew would come in handy with finishing several cross stitch gifts that I make.
Of course, actually having a sewing machine and practicing would probably help. :)
Dana says
Sew me!!
I’m probably a 3-ish, but I tackle projects that are 7’s, which leads to lots of “interesting” results.

SEW ME!
I am a total One! ….but would love to move up!
Keisha F. says
SEW ME! I am about a 1!
Jessica says
SEW ME!
I would have to say I am a self proclaimed 7 on the sewing scale. Unlike Sherry sewing is one of my favorite pastimes. However, I do not think Sherry gives herself enough credit, I would give her at least a 5.
CarolineK says
SEW ME! And, I’m a 1. Maybe a 0. But, I want to learn!
Melissa says
Sew me!
I’m a 2 looking for a sewing machine!
Sarah says
SEW ME! I’m a sewing newbie. I’m currently using a borrowed machine and trying to teach myself how to use it.
Kaylee S says
SEW ME!
I would say I am a 5? I took sewing all throughout highschool. I’m no pro but I love doing it.
Brittany Hise says
SEW ME!!! I’d rate myself a 3, but I’ve been dying to have a seeing machine and if I did, if quickly move up to a level 6/7 ;)
c norris says
SEW ME!!
I am terrible!! Buttons have even got the best of me before, but who doesn’t want to be a 10?
Brook says
SEW ME!
I’m somewhere around a 3. I can hem pants and curtains, but I can’t modify a simple pattern to save my life.
NYer says
I’d say a 5. I can follow a pattern, and take things apart to make alterations, but it’s been a long while since I’ve made any clothes. A new sewing machine could be just the inspiration I need!
Lisa says
Sew me! I’m definitely a 1 but would love to learn more.
Rebecca says
SEW ME! Definitely a 0. I can horribly hand-stitch things, but I regret not taking sewing lessons as a kid when my Mom so desperately wanted me to!
Linda says
Sew me!
I’m probably around a 10! I’d love this dandy machine for teaching my friends how to sew!
Julia says
SEW ME! I’m hovering around a 5… I can sew a straight line like a boss… but much beyond that and I’m lost! Thanks for the giveaway!
Nate says
SEW ME! (Or SEW MY WIFE) Would love to gift this to her for the holidays. My sewing abilities are in the 0.000012 range.
Mandy says
SEW ME!
I’m a 2. I can sew a straight line if I try hard but I spend 30 minutes looking up my sewing machine manual on the internet every time I want to use it. I lost the manual long ago – probably tossing it out in a fit of rage.
Eleri says
SEW ME! I am just getting into sewing. I would rate my self a 2. I could sew a very wonky bag. Thanks for the giveaway!
Katie says
SEW ME!!
I’d say I’m a 2…my button-sewing skills are second to none… I aspire to someday be a 4!
Deborah Denny says
Sew Me!
I am definitely a 1 but this would be a great gift for my sister who is a 10!
Thao says
SEW ME!
I’m a 2. I can make pillow cases like nobody’s business!… but that’s the extent of it.
Elise says
I’m right there w/Sherry at a 3, wonky bags are my specialty (??)
Courtney says
Sew Me!! I would be a 1… but I am getting ready to take a sewing class. I was just out pricing sewing machines, so if I win, it would be perfect!! My mom is amazing, I’d say a 25… I home to one day be half as talented as her.
Sabrina says
SEW ME! I would give myself a 2 or 3 for sewing skillz. My grandmother tried teaching me as a child but I had more interest playing outside, now as an adult, I wish I had paid attention!
Elise says
SEW ME!
I’m right there w/Sherry at a 3, wonky bags are my specialty (??) haha
Hannah says
SEW ME!! Oh man, what a beautiful Christmas present this will make to me (when I win, right?)! I’m definitely in ugly-wonky-bag territory, ranking myself about a 2.
Susanna says
SEW ME!!
I’d rank myself a 0… or actually I’d be in the negative numbers as I’ve broken more needles than had finished products. But it’s my new years resolution to duke it out (and win) with a sewing machine.
Dawn says
SEW ME!
I am definitely a one. No skills here but we just bought our first house and I NEED to learn how to sew curtains and pillows :-)
Meg Conner says
SEW ME!!
I am a 0! I want to learn though!
Erin says
SEW ME!!
I am about a 3 on the hand sewing continuum but I can’t sew with a machine at all, because I’ve never owned one! But I would love, love, love to!
Brooke says
SEW ME! i most definitely asked for a sewing machine for Christmas, so this would be spectacular, because i’m 99.99% i won’t get one…i’m a self proclaimed 3 with a sewing machine…without one, more like a 0. :)
Michelle M says
I am a 2.
I know how to thread the machine and do a simple straight line, but that’s about it. I really want to learn more but I can’t figure out how to get a new needle in the machine. Does that bump me down to a 1.75?
jana says
SEW ME! I used to sew a bit, when I lived at my parents’ and had access to my mom’s machine. I’d love one of my own!
Bev says
SEW ME!
My sewing skills rank as: Non-existant! I’ve been wanting to get a sewing machine for so long so I can take classes and learn how to sew!!
Nicole J says
SEW ME! I am definitely a 0…
This is SUCH great timing, as I was just telling my co-worker today that I can’t even sew a button on, but am making it a 2013 resolution to sew buttons on at least 5 pieces of clothing by 12/31/13! With this machine, maybe I could learn more than buttons!
Sarah Gilbert says
SEW ME!
I’m a lucky 8, schooled in the days when Home Ec was still required for girls and taught at home by a patient mother.
Anaïs says
SEW ME!!!
I’m probably a 3 too. I’ve got a few projects coming up that require a sewing machine, so it would come at the perfect moment! Thanks for hosting this giveaway, I’m keeping my fingers crossed :)
Heather says
SEW ME!
I’m like you, John, a solid 1. I haven’t touched a sewing machine since early high school, but this machine could probably help me learn a valuable skill when I need to repair my clothes during a zombie apocalypse!
Carly Miller-Carbaugh says
Sew me, please!
I’m probably a 5. My mom is way better, but has passed many tips on to me. I’d do better if I was more patient!
Cathy says
SEW ME! I’ve taken a beginner’s sewing class and have done basic sewing projects since. I’d say I’m a 4 out of 10.
