***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***
After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!
I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?
- PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

SEW ME!
I’m about a 3, like Sherry, but I feel like I could be better if I didn’t have a 45 year old sewing machine.
I have a stack of sewing projects in my office that I would love to tackle with a more efficient tool.
Crystal @ 29 Rue House says
SEW ME!!! Hmmmmm, I’ll go with a 5 since I’ve sewed a box cushion and I at least believe I can do something (even if I really can’t).
Eileen says
SEW ME! I’m about a 2 on the sewing continuum–I just made my first pair of pajama pants last night!
Sara says
Sew me! I would give myself a 3 out of 10. Luckily, I can usually convince my mom, who is more of an 9 out of 10, to help me with my sewing projects.
Dayna says
SEW ME!!
I think I’d be a 3 as well. Been a few years since I’ve actually used a sewing machine!
danika says
SEW ME! I’m probably a 3.5; definitely not proficient, but like to dabble. What a terrific machine and giveaway! Someone is going to be super lucky {I hope it’s me!!}. :)
Amy says
Sew me!!!
I would a 1 when it comes to sewing skills, but have been wanting to learn!
browncoat says
Sew Me! Eh – I’m a 0. But I’d like to learn!
Sarah H says
SEW ME! I would definitely rate myself a one, but that’s only because I hand-stitch and haven’t had the opportunity to figure out the awesomeness that is a sewing machine. Now that I have a daughter (8 months!), there are a ton of things I’d love to make – NOT by hand.
Katie R. says
SEW ME! I’ve wanted a sewing machine for a while now! I can darn a sock and stitch up the end of a pillow (for which I used iron-on hem), so I’d give myself a 2.
Jenny says
Sew Me! Ahh sewing machines. I always ‘temporarily borrow’ a friends… for months at a time. I am an expert tiny bag sewer! (but cannot do much else…) I have sewed literally 1,000 tiny tiny bags to keep bees off of flowers! Oh the strange life of a pollination biologist. So a I’m a solid 10 for bags! and a 1 for any other shape at all…
Dinka says
SEW ME!
I would say I’m a solid 4 or 5 out of 10…not terrible, but definitely a lot of room for improvement! Most of my sewing experience is by hand, tho. When I was in the 8th grade, I sewed a stuffed animal cardinal as our mock electoral college team’s mascot – we were representing Virginia! :-)
Eva Chapman says
“SEW ME” – eeeekkkk umm I’m definitely a two. I can sew but not in a straight line…
Inka says
SEW ME! I am probably a 5, can make some basic stuff; though I have trouble going in a straight line :)!
Laura M says
SEW ME!
I love to sew and I’d love to assume I’m a 10. Sadly I’m not, but I can follow most tutorials. I consider myself a 5.
Sherry – Teach Clara to sew. She’ll love it so much. My 9 year old is so giddy about sewing and is getting her first machine this Christmas!
Selina G says
Sew Me!!!!
Definitely a 1….more likely to grab a glue gun than a sewing maching, even though it’s on my bucket list!! That and about a million other projects!
Christa M says
SEW ME!!!! I’ve been sewing since I’m two….went to school for it in HS and College (F.I.T. Baybay!) I would rank myself at an 8 and could probably do it blind folded…..My machine is a cheapie though, I would LOOOOVE a mack daddy one!
Sandi says
SEW ME!
I’m kind of awful. I always mess up the tension on a sewing machine, and threading a bobbin gives me fits. :) Easiest to use sounds nice!
Jessica B.C. says
SEW ME!
I really love to sew but I’m selftaught and not that confident on the more difficult manuevers….
Hillary says
Sew me! I’m gonna go out on a limb and give myself a 2… Based solely on using a sewing machine once in Home Ec in middle school way back when.
Heather says
SEW ME!
I’m probably a 6, can do quite a bit, but zippers scare me!
Kim Rose says
Sew Me! I am a 1 for sure!
Kathy says
SEW ME – well, my mom taught me how to sew when i was a kid, she would be a 10 and i would have to rate myself a 5.
Katie says
sew me!!! I love to sew but i’d probably only rank myself a 5. i have a lot to learn and love doing it one project at a time :)
Tori says
SEW ME!
I think I might be a 6 on your sewing skills continuum. The most difficult thing I’ve sewn so far is a quilt.
Lauren says
SEW ME!
I’m a figureitoutkindagal so maybe a 6? So if my sister asks for a monster costume for my neice’s halloween party, I provide a little bit of sewing, a litte bit of already made and a smidge of hot glue. And voila, it’s a hit! (Not to mention I freak out when I figured out something as small as how to sew spikes on a black Target hoodie I bought her to start off from!)
Brenner says
Sew Me! I would probably say I’m about a 2. I can pillow cases like a champ! ;)
leanne L. says
Sew ME!
I am a “1”. I couldn’t sew to save my own life.
Maggie B. says
SEW ME!! I’m a 2. I once made (for a senior english project) the entire King Henry VIII costume. It took me 3 months and a lot of deep breaths! =)
Angela Hall says
SEW ME! I rate myself a 3, I could make some curtains or pillows. Anything with straight lines. :)
Dani P says
SEW ME! I’m definitely a 3. A wonky bag is definitely within my realm of possibility…as well as some wonky curtains.
Mireille says
SEW ME! I’d say I’m about a 2 – so I could use some help! :)
Lakshmi A Sitharanjan says
SEW ME – for wanting this!!:)
Iam a fan of yours from the minute I came across your blog a few years back.I should say–only you guys can come up with such cool and fancy giveaways- Thank you :) Iam a 5 to 6 score in sewing (tote bags, purse and crafty clothes are my fav sew projects). For last 6 months, a sewing machine is haunting my wishlist hope I get lucky!
Kellee says
SEW ME!
I would give myself a 2, cause I can do basic stuff by hand. I really want a sewing machine and learn how to use it.
Nicole says
Sew me! I’m more like a 4…but my stitches suck!
Kellie says
SEW ME! Does hem tape count? I guess I’m a 1!
Meredith R. says
SEW ME! I can sew a button by hand or sew up small rips/tears/holes also by hand. I got nothing when it comes to a sewing machine. But I so desparately want to learn!!
Suzanna says
SEW ME! I’m probably a 1.5 – I can sew a button and could probably hem something if I need to, but I would LOVE to actually learn how to sew and would LOVE a sewing machine of my own. :)
Meagan Lewis says
SEW ME!!! I’m probably a 2 on the sewing scale. I did really well on my home economics projects in junior high, but I haven’t really touched a sewing machine since then. I’d love to create some of my own masterpieces!
Allison says
SEW ME!!
Definitely a 3 like Sherry. I can do basic stitch, and haven’t made anything too much more complicated than a throw pillow. But Pinterest has made me want to learn more and a sewing machine is on my Christmas list this year!
Leslie says
SEW ME! I’m definitely a 1. My mom sewed all our Halloween costumes/bows/random things growing up and I’d love to learn to do the same for my future kids (including the one on the way :) )
Jennifer Neer says
SEW ME! I’m about a 5. I used to sew on my mom’s old Singer portable, and I have one that my mother-in-law gave me, but it’s in need of repair and just does the basic forward and backward stitching. I made several dresses and costumes on that old machine. I know I would sew more if I had a newer machine! (Anything made after 1950 is newer — maybe I should raise my expectations a bit…)
Jenny says
SEW ME! I’m a 2- know what I’m supposed to do, never get it right.
meredith says
SEW ME!! 1-Novice (my middle school home ec skills have long since faded, but in my prime I could sew a mean boxer)
Amber says
SEW ME!
My brother machine just went kaput! I am in desperate need of a new machine and this singer looks lovely!
Britta N. says
Sew Me! I would love to learn how to sew and using an “easy to use” machine I am sure would be so very helpful! I would say I am a “2” I know the basics but that’s about it!
Elizabeth K. says
SEW ME! I took a costuming class in college and learned how to sew and I totally fell in love! I used my mom’s sewing machine for a while, but then I moved cross country several year ago and haven’t been able to afford my own (I’m pregnant with #4, so money is tight!). I wanted one for Christmas, but even a cheap one doesn’t fit in the budget this year. Maybe luck will prevail and I’ll win this giveaway! Even if I don’t though, I think it’s awesome that you are doing it!
Lydia says
Sew me! I don’t think I’m a 10, probably more like an 8… Although I did get a serger last year for Christmas, and I’ve had so much fun sewing with knits.
Michelle says
Sew Me! I’m a 0 never touched a machine, but with a baby on the way it would be fun to learn, so I can make halloween costumes in the future!
Liana says
SEW ME! Hmm. I’m somewhere between -3 and 0!
